One if the saddest days in the history of sports. R.I.P. johnny hockey. The entire Philadelphia region, along with Calgary, Columbus, and Boston, will cherish your memory forever.
Not only that, but he’s better than PPG at even strength. So far, he’s at 108 points this season (38-70-108). 85 of the 108 (32-53) are at even strength. No one is within 10 points of him at even strength.
Johnny Hockey is an NCAA Legend. Greatest Hockey Player I ever saw at that level, and one of the most amazing humans ever to play the game. Matty was just as important to BC Hockey as Johnny was. Rest in Paradise Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. We will never forget
Johnny had some on the fastest skates on the ice. His ability to stop on a dime, make cuts and his sick crossovers was unbelievable on the ice! His wrap around the goals to score was unbelievable. He was just a special, very special talent. He will be missed.
Never knew too much about Johnny’s history cool to know more about him,he is my favourite player here in Calgary, hopefully we can bring home the cup this year!🔥
They are now. He’s set to be the biggest ticket unrestricted free agent this off-season. This season (as of this post)…108 points with 85 points at even strength.
@@jcoats5529 you’re joking, right? Darryl has helped Johnny become the hockey player he should be, and it will only go up for him from here. Hopefully in Calgary.
I saw him at a Denver game once in street clothes, right after he had signed the Calgary contract. Dude looked like he was about 15 years old…. Must have been 19 or 20 at the most. Hell of a hockey player for sure.
I played against his father countless times and have seen both parents teach him how to walk and on he went.....His families blood runs thick. This young man was a pleasure to watch just about any given day as a child in South Jersey at the Hollydell ice arena.....Total rink rat.....keep making us proud Johnny......
I had a good friend at Boston college. His name was Bill Maguire. Bill scored the first goal in the first bean pot tournament the Boston college in 1954. Bill was very close do the Boston college hockey team for the next 70 years. When Bill met Johnny gaudreau, he couldn't stop talking how about this wonderful young man. Not just an outstanding hockey player about a terrific human being. I don't know that I ever heard Bill talk about another athlete with the enthusiasm and respect that he had for Johnny gaudreau.. I'm speechless and really stunned and I feel the loss. God bless the Brothers.
Calgary in my opinion got the short end of it I have been a fan since they moved to Calgary from Atlanta and we deserved far better than what we got from him
good thing is the flames are looking to be the best Canadian team in the '22 regular season. they beat Tampa and Colorado so who knows if he may get the Stanley.
@@mikelaird5458 Agreed. Calgary is having an amazing season but, there isn't a team in the West that can beat the Avs in 7. Then again, that's what make the playoffs so damn fun. Anything can happen!
my friend Taylor Nelson was the goalie for ferris state when BC won and Johnny score two on him. He jokes that if that didn't happen it would be him in the NHL.
Took the Flames a few years to figure all this out. First they took a chance on Martin St. Louis in 1998 and later, then GM Al Coates picked up the contract option for the 2000-2001 season but when Coates and his staff were fired, that contract got bought out and St. Louis went to Tampa and later beat the Flames in the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals. All this time, Flames were drafting players built for the 1980s -1990s bigger, tougher style of play which was losing ground to the speed/skill style evolving. Today they have a number of higher skill smaller players that cost them very little in terms of draft position and initial salary. Those players are now about to be PAID!
You forgot Theo fleury, a 5' 7" phenomenon and champ in the 1989 Flames. big heart, highly skilled. should be a HFer, but his issues in his nhl later years have prevented him to be inducted in the HofF. I believe he will eventually. he was also world champ and Olympic gold medalist. and the most amazing thing is that he became a star in a league where roughness, size and retaliation were the norm.
Similarly, MSL, who played college hockey at Vermont, was seen as too small for the NHL. Letting him go was a huge mistake as now his number is retired in Tampa.
I think the NHL needs more JG, great inspiration to the smaller guys who can play amazing hockey. I grew playing with a friend who was the smallest guy in the rink and probably the most naturally talented skater and puck handler ive ever seen, once we got to high school is when people starting telling him he's too small To play D1 and think that killed his confidence. I always wonder if he was given a chance if he'd woulda been the next JG or Theo fleury.
This was cool! Now I can actually speak to how we got the name as opposed to just being a chump and saying it. He’s an incredible player. You should do one someday on Robert Thomas! Great channel!
Because everyone in hockey is obsessed with height instead of skill. There are so many tried and true small guys Im not sure why its still a talking point.
Amazing he can rack up so many points without going into the corners. No wonder he has such a great ± because he is hardly ever involved in a defensive zone face off. Great hands on "No Class Johnny Glass", no doubt about that. Ever see him get hit? It takes him a while to get to his feet and he is a detriment to his team because on the way to the bench he has to make sure he doesn't skate over his bottom lip. Oh, and don't forget about whining to the refs about getting bumped. He's like a tiny John Tavares.
Hahaha ya remember when that plug from great Britain put him out in the world's!? Don't know why NHL guy's ease up on him you see it all the time. Too fast my ass. Should be a grease stain on the boards.
