    Good job mate, that looks awesome.. I’m in the middle of building my 80 series, just got it back from getting a full shut door re-spray (original colour) also had a restoration job done.. getting the engine done January, need a new intercooler & alternator plus give it a birthday.. then bar work suspension & wheels/tyres.. I’ve got a HDJ81 (Japanese import) 4.2L turbo diesel.. you’ve definitely done a brilliant job yours, can’t wait for mine to be completed.. Happy Christmas mate..

    Well done, been watching your progress videos and really enjoyed them. You now have an 80 that will last another 30 years :)
    When doing the cooling upgrades I noticed green coolant? Do yourself a favour and flush that out completely and go the Toyota red coolant. Ive run only that in my 1995 80 series and when I had to do the head gasket at 480,000 km the water jackets in the head were spotless and shiny, same for the water pump etc.

    Congratulations on your 80 build. Looking great and looks like you made some good choices on equipment. I've always wanted an 80.

    Great build! Thanks for putting together the great video, You're going to LOVE that thing.
    Take care reversing up steep hillsides when turning around on the trail with those tires- or if you start bouncing a tire on an obstacle. With the high pinion diff it tends to shatter parts when you go to a 37" or larger tire. Years ago we put Bobby Long Superaxles (chromoly) in the front and that seemed to fix the problem, but I'm not sure if the company that bought out Bobby's widow has the same quality or not.

    Fun project, love the 38s. We running 37"x13.50" on 9" wide -12mm offset wheel using same springs except their 6" adjustable remote shocks. I noticed you did not install the 1.5"-2" bumpstops required for the front and 3" bunpstops required for the rear per Dobinsons documentation. Has your shocks bottomed out and also have you had to trim much in the rear to tuck the 38s with -38mm offset?

      @RM_Garage  Рік тому

      I haven't had any issues with it bottoming out and I haven't had to trim, BUT I also haven't taken it through anything difficult enough (yet) to test it to that level. I do plan to install the bumpstops.

      @@RM_Garage I'll be watching! Love your videos man, I bought a 91 last year in really rough shape and I've been going through the really not fun stuff - steering pump, gear box, all the gaskets, water pump, egr delete, front axle rebuild etc etc.
      It's really awesome to see your videos and be reminded there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
      Especially seeing you slap a lift and some 38's on this thing. Awesome build and videography, keep up the great work.

    Do you or anyone have any way of knowing if trailing arms have to be modified or buy adjustable ones?

    What a great build! I’m curious how much you needed to cut for the 38s!? I’m on KM3 37s and really considering making the move up.

    • @RM_Garage
      @RM_Garage  11 місяців тому

      I haven’t had to cut anything for the 38s. I’ve wheeled it and flexed it out decently but not as much as it can go. It rubs a little bit but nothing worth cutting. I need to get it articulated and check where it does hit, if it does.

      @RM_Garage yeah I'm on 35's currently. I wanna upgrade all that stuff before I make the jump to 38, 39 or 40s. Thanks for videos.
