- In 1979 while Ti Manno was with DP Express, Hurricane "David" destroyed part of the Caribbean especially Haiti, the group dedicated the album “David” to the Haitian people and it turned out to be a huge success.
Hurricane David was an extremely deadly hurricane which caused massive devastation and loss of life in the Dominican Republic in August of 1979. A Cape Verde-type hurricane that reached Category 5 hurricane status on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale, David was the fourth named tropical cyclone, second hurricane, and first major hurricane of the 1979 Atlantic hurricane season, traversing through the Leeward Islands, Greater Antilles, and East Coast of the United States during late August and early September. David was the first hurricane to affect the Lesser Antilles since Hurricane Inez in 1966. With winds of 175 mph (280 km/h), David remains the only storm of Category 5 intensity to make landfall on the Dominican Republic in the 20th century and the deadliest since the 1930 Dominican Republic Hurricane, San Zenon, killing over 2,000 people in its path. Also, the hurricane was the strongest to hit Dominica in the 20th century, and was the deadliest Dominican tropical cyclone since a hurricane killed over 200 in September of the 1834 season.

Ce soir du 27 août, sans électricité, les musiciens de la formation haïtienne, qui ont raté l’avion pour la Martinique, couchent dans les bungalows de la Cocoteraie, le petit domaine de l’ami Nico, leur promoteur local. La tempête tropicale David approche, transformée en un cyclone menaçant. Réveillés en pleine nuit par la tornade, littéralement inondés, ils se sentent comme laissés à eux-mêmes. Au terme de trois semaines d’une tournée harassante, ils veulent rentrer à la maison. Coûte que coûte.

je suis originaire de la Martinique , de mes deux parents , j'avais 9 ans , en 79 , mon prénom est David et bien sur mes parents passaient ce disque lors des réunions familiales et autre , moi , j'entendais "David" mais j'étais trop jeune pour comprendre les paroles ....Aujourd'hui , je repasse cette chanson et j'apprécie , 45 ans plutard ; ))

Cette chanson est un chez d'oeuvre de ce grand artiste d'Hayti, ce grand poète de très regrettée mémoire.
J'avais 6 ans la première que j'écoutais et dansais cette chanson , dans le petit apparel Sony de ma défunte mère.
Maintenant j' ai 47.
C'était le bon vieux temps dans lîle Hispaniola ( HAYTI).
Continuer à reposer en paix Mr. Emmanuel ( Manno).
