Houthi attacks have been concentrated in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and nearby waters off the coast of Yemen.
The Houthis have launched over 50 attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden region since November 2023, using missiles, drones, and explosive boats.
The attacks have targeted US, Israeli, UK, and commercial vessels transiting these waters near Yemen, disrupting maritime traffic and forcing some ships to take longer routes around Africa.
The US military has responded by shooting down Houthi missiles, drones, and boats in the Red Sea area to protect freedom of navigation.
The farthest attack mentioned was on a cargo ship around 93 km southwest of Aden in the Gulf of Aden, resulting in 3 crew fatalities.
There is no evidence to suggest that Houthis being able to strike targets as far away as the Mediterranean Sea, which is over 2000 km from Yemen across Saudi Arabia and multiple countries.
