It saves on development time and cost to reuse assets, but that means those assets aren't unique. There's not really a perfect answer just preferences and trade offs.
All of the missions from the story can be replayed in the barracks from the Sim-Log machine. They have special conditions to earn stars, such as doing them with a set tonnage, with minimal damage, or stock mechs, etc. Some of those could be good content, since doing all at once-- especially with stock mechs, can actually be quite a challenge.
Per canon in the Battletech universe, the Clans do not engage or even encourage “love”. This could lead to freeborn, deemed lesser individuals than “true borns”, ie formed from genetic matching and raised in a single crèche as “sibkin”. Also, look for an Archer in the Dragoons. Jaime Wolf, the CO, drives one.
as well as the connotations of sibkin being from the same genetic batches, although I think there was a story around one of those children, or was it just a plot point... memory isn't clear
@@paulallison3974There is. Aidan Pryde had a child with one of his sibkin that washed out and went to the scientist caste. That child eventually became a major character in her own right.
For the most part that is true. Love is not a Clan value. Thus the dezgra nature of freebirths. There is, however, sex and other rowdiness. Just without issue/children. A long time ago, like the 80s, I read the Jade Falcon books, Aidan Pryde. That was a great series for Clan ways. Especially the wide of the invaders of the inner sphere. Also, Jaime Wolf wasn't at this battle. Just the Black Widow Battalion, with his son leading.
The Dragoons walking directly through Combine decorative garden structures kinda feels like a totally appropriate thing considering their prior ban by Takashi Kurita. Another "gift" and way for the Davions to give the finger to the Kuritans even while helping them.
Jayden and Mia are closer to siblings than anything else. They've grown up together, and they come from the same genetic stock. But TrueBorn Clanners don't have "families" as such though, other than bloodlines. They are raised from birth to be warriors.
Thanks @Baradul for your great series of MW5: Clans videos. Because of you I bought the game and started digging out my BattleTech books. I realized I got all 3050 Ral Partha Omni Mechs, TRs and Rulebooks until the early nineties. I was a Nebelparder (Smoke Jaguar) member of the Mechforce Germany in 1993. Great memories! Btw. when I chose my clan its fate was still open…
November 25th the first dlc is dropping. A 5v5 pvp mode (more a win for console players) and a 5 person coop horde mode. Some new skins and variants as well. No mention of new game plus.
The Clan war is not over. There will be another full game or possibly a DLC to the Mercs version. Clearly, that door remains open, based on the last scene.
I can't help but think that a Tukayyid DLC is coming to cap off the story, possibly with the shift that Jayden's now commanding a full binary instead of just a single star, effectively doubling the number of mechs under his command in each mission, since at least on the Mia ending, he was promoted to Star Captain in that last cutscene. This could also set him up to be in a position similar to Spectre, the player character from Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries.
Sad to see Mia M.I.A (Yeye, K.I.A but misses the pun), a crazy chic challenging the clanners to duels all over the IS would be a fun DLC beside finding Liam in another DLC pulling the strings of the Black Widows net ;)
that scene with the king crab the catapult and the rest is like am i watching mechwarrior online or mw5 clans jaja and also this was a amazing campaing i cant wait to see if pgi release some dlc´s
Not sure I would want to replay through the story again even with mods should there be some that get developed. Sandbox/career mode is what I would be looking for too. This ending makes the most sense to add career mode onto it. It would be great to see dlc for both endings though.
Amazing campaign! This let's play series is definitely one for the books. Hope PGI gives us more to play with in the immediate future. It'd be good if they can give us a sandbox experience within the game, like repeatable quests ala Mercs where we advance the position of the clans within the systems they conquer.
I have alot to say. First off. Great game! Top notch characters, voice acting, story archs etc. Need more fat STORY DLC ( Mason cameos, play as FRR with first Clan encounters, horror mode? )+ features. So! Try stock only OR no omni pod swapping playthroughs😅 Mia and Jayden are siblings! Jayden and Naomi however ( for both paths )😉 Love both paths actually but prefer the Crusader path a bit more ( if only they were caring for other castes and I.S populaces, would avoid rebellions and brazen defiance and headache keeping planets ) I still clinge to Liam not be dead but brought in by some specops etc. Ezra is just plain naive! " Freeing thus world " Emm even with reforms the Deaconis Combine is still ruthless, even more so than the Capellan Confederation and the more sane Crusader clans. Betrayal is NEVER an excuse for " greater good " reasoning. Sputing principles while shitting on others. Mia said it VERY well. Sure total irrational and blinded idiocy to nuke Edo at Turtle Bay. Yet few bring up the Draconis Combines and other factions more blatant disregard of planetary populaces by going full 10x more exterminatus. Change Smoke Jaguar from within is the best though more difficult path. Challenging Perez inner circle and lackeys before booting his ass in trials. Lastly. Pretty obnocious trope that they gad the blonde guy being smartass possibly killed off and the more sciency left hander killed off too. Its all about inclusivety these days with genders, beliefs, skin color etc. But left handers, blondes, red heads, atheists, scientific+logical, color blind and handicapped etc people and characters gets shafted in and out of fiction😂
Hm, after watching the Ezra or Warden ending, I'm not so sure how the DLC are going to be structured. While the Ezra ending is more "satisfying" the Mia or Crusader ending makes much more sense in terms of being a MW5: Clans game. From a developer perspective it wouldn't make much sense to entertain both endings unless PGI wanted to just spam DLCs for both paths which would almost certainly cause players to complain about excessive DLC packs. Well anyway, thanks for the playthrough, it was good to watch and good video Bara. 🙂
@@michaelbarnard8529 Yeah that's a distinct possibility but it would be a shame if the SJ story wasn't continued to some extent. At least for one or two DLC.
@@CowCommando Yeah that's what most game devs would do. I was thinking PGI might introduce some of the other Clans or maybe reintroduce some characters from the main story that didn't really have any conclusion like Liam and maybe the Pirate King as their own separate storyline. That would be up to PGI though. Because I've worked on a game where making a sequel was made nearly impossible due to the ending of the first game and the solution to that was well to wait, lol. Waiting for a soft reboot doesn't bother a lot of AAA gamers but for a AA game like MechWarrior where they also have to follow the preexisting lore, that wouldn't be acceptable. Plus PGI would need to continually be making games anyway and couldn't just sit on a story for a while.
you can always hit the sim and try it with different mechs but it might be time to start a new campaign for mw5 modded, there might even be new mods by now
the Other clans are coming as DLC Wolf, jade falcon etc each with its own story arcs and Mod tools are on there Way in 2025 so the Redit and Steam page says so who knows I just want my Clan Wolf..
I lost 3 mechs in this battle and this was the second time i lost a mech. The first being the mission with the stolen mechs you have to shoot down and 2 seconds before the game ended i lost an ally... But here i lost because i rushed hard and took down Mia in her legs in the first area...
Hey, Bara! Thanks for opening it up to suggestions on where to go from here. I have been doing achievement farming and I cannot seem to find the 3rd supply caches on the level "Courchevel - Scrapyard" I have looked it up and cannot seem to find anyone else that may have seen this as a potential bug or if it's just me. Thanks if you can! Cheers!
Neat. Shame they didn't made it in MW5 Mercs as a high price DLC. This way it might become dead end branch. Anyway it would be interesting to see some coop campaign in MW5 mercs with some mods. Seems like people are really interested in that nowdays
Game was very Easy....I was sad about that.... the progression is to fast... But it is fun to replay the game trying to use bad mecs... Try the last Mission with no Assault mec... like use a Nova cat :p
this game isn't worth $50 dollars, it should been of a DLC for MW5 Mercenaries, for such issue you said, repayable. Imagine they making this a series of DLC that leads all the way to Tukayyid, where we take part of the defense and beat back the Clans...then ever further the series of DLC to the eradication and decimation of the Smoke Jaguars as a Wolf Dragoon. the one thing this all lacks is infantry and the elementals hoping on us. A full combat war scenario. NOW THATS IS WORTH BUYING ! I'd pay a $50 DLC if they announced a series of such.
@@MarkWerner-r8d I believe that they said all of the blood named members, such as Natasha and Jaime Wolf, answered the “blood call” of Clan Wolf. Trust me, I was looking for Jaime’s Archer and Natasha’s Warhammer.

I found the Ezra/Warden ending a bit disingenuous for the main character. Yes, he waffles a lot as the story goes on but never so much that he would fully embrace the Warden philosophy for the Inner Sphere. I think the Mia/Crusader ending arc pays off the storytelling better but it too has him swerve a bit too heavily into the opposite end of operating.
Not sure how I feel about this ending...I realize smoke jaguar is supposed to be the BIG bad...but the good ending is saving the combine? It feels...disingenuous
It's quite more complicated than that but the nuances can easily be lost in translation if you're not familiar with the lore regarding clan politics in that era. In a nutshell, they're not saving Luthien because the dracs are cool bros, but because the warden philosophy encourages them to safeguard the inner sphere and guide/shape its future by setting an example, by being better than the houses responsible for destroying the Star League. From a warden perspective, it makes no sense to become a tyrant in order to destroy a tyrant, like the crusader Jaguars did.
...well the game fails to keep Mia alive until it feels like the correct moment, even if Baradul killed the enemies all around her first... A bunch of turrets or a star coming from behind behind would lead to using the walls in another way. ^_^
The writing is so bad. They didn't even try to refrain from using contractions. Not just for verbs, but possessives of nouns would have sounded much better as well ("something of anything" instead of "anything's something")
Kind of sucks that both of the final levels revolve around the same scenario. But hey, at least we get to stick it to Perez in this one
It saves on development time and cost to reuse assets, but that means those assets aren't unique. There's not really a perfect answer just preferences and trade offs.
Yes, I'm well aware of that aspect of game development. But the Warden arc just felt kind of tacked-on as an last minute decision
Both branches leaves Jayden heavily prychologically wounded.
A "New Game Plus" update is coming, apparently, so the game isn't completely done. And there will surely be DLCs and expansions.
