- 'Stigma'.... Made this film maybe 11 or 12 years ago on Langley Estate Middleton, Greater Manchester.
Back then the estate was really impoverished and had a bad reputation. So Terry Smith asked me to make a film of his idea, a young lad from there finding it difficult to attain work and getting stitched up by a bad cop.
This was my first short community film, loved creating it as we virtually made it up as we went along and so many locals got involved to make it work. When we premiered it in Middleton community centre near the old baths it seemed like everyone on Langley turned up. Even stuck Chris Nolan's poem at the end and Lee Ward was ace, his first ever acting role. I used the name Peter Walker back then, but 10 years ago changed it to Yankowski as its the name on my birth certificate.
Well it was all a great experience, made on a shoestring and a message of how stigmatised the area was back then.
I left langley many years ago. I set up a Successful Business. I still to this day remember my roots. now and then i take a little drive around the estate. Still has a special place in my heart that not many people can understand.
R.I.p Steve waddington legend of a man. John Liverpool ❤️
I left Langley many years ago but it still holds a special place in my heart.. I am proud of my history and I don't shy away from the fact that I was raised on Langley estate.. It made me who I am today. I have a good career as do many people who were raised on Langley. This film, although a little coarse, was lovely to watch and made me smile.. The twist at the end made me laugh.. ;) Bad lad!! ;)
It was great to make this film i played Michaels mum in this, everyone who took part came from Langley, right from the director to all the actors.we need to make a follow up film RKid Media. x

I grew up on Langley and absolutely loved it, all my family still live there and I visit a lot and it’s still a lovely place with lovely people :) I went on to university as did many others I would think, always loved the place :)
I grew up in Langley. While I'm happy it made me who I am today, it also made me realize I had to work hard to leave. Im now living and working in Toronto, Canada.
Miss ya loads though our kid! Haha 😊
No way mate. Hope.your good pal
I grew up on Langley Estate in the 60s 70s and 80s. Back then it was a great community with the Catholic Club, the Millbeck club and loads of pubs. There wee a few "lively lads" around, but I played football (3 games every weekend) with most of them and they were great people. It's sad to see how it turned out, but let's hope it can get back to its former self. The people there were, and probably still are, the best. By the way, I'm now in Melbourne, Australia and have been for the last 37 years.
Moved to Hollins next to Langley two years ago from Longsight of all places. You should enjoy what you have here in middleton and Langley, compared to Longsight, this is paradise.
lol
you on glue?
Physco Bill says get off da hill
Alright pal, I'm Chris' son (I didn't make the final cut in the end) - glad this is online and making the rounds again!
Hi Rkid, got to know your dad well at the time of making this film. His poetry and creativity was top, is he still creative? and well?
Great work! from a fellow middleton filmmaker well done everyone!
God this is old. It's changed so much. No matter how hard you try to stay off the estate, you always come back "home" lakeland courts not changed much, apart from the phone boxes missing and the flats have gone.
Respect from Wythenshawe M22 💙
Anyone remember Barry Bamford.
Good little film.Depicts the harrassment and bullying of Police

I live in Langley now and it’s all gang wars
9:02 I've literally been down that alley and ate a pizza there with my m8
Dang, really?
What a coincidence
Langley is nothing like this and hasn’t been for decades, if ever? It’s booming for house sales and posh houses have sprouted up everywhere over the last 10years+ I have family who live there and have never seen any trouble lol
I’d lay off the glue if I were you. There are no pubs and it’s full of tramps.
... so the bad cop assumed the worst but the asian guy had done all that terrible stuff anyway?
Go on p hahah
