  • My Moto Guzzi Le Mans before during and after the MK2 to MK1 conversion.
It took nearly 2 years to do and has been of the road for nearly 4!!!!!
I love it soooo much I keep putting off getting it back on the road..

Great, well thanks for the input... I found my Mk 1 in a barn, all original, with one exception - someone remounted the front discs BEHIND the front shocks.. no biggie. I'm always curious about the air filter debate, as I am a long time air cooled VW guy, and many people feel the longevity of the upright VW engines were due to the oil bath air cleaner that took every bit of dust and dirt out of the carb before combustion, therefore less contaminants into the engine and longer life...

Inspirational! Great soundtrack too. Thanks, helps keep me focused on what I hope will be only my first Guzzi restoration - 81 V50-III.

early mk 1s (series 1) 1976 ,used a small squarish tail light but later mk 1s (second series ,not mark 2) 1977 to 78 used the long rectangular tail light.

nah, i have plenty of other things i need to do first.
    tank swap for a mk1
    relocate ignition key
new instrument panel (even though i have done one from scratch already)
and a new head stock with the turning steering damper.
besides.. my uncle ahs a mk1 (original)and we have the same rear taillight. he is the only owner of it and he tells me the rear light you are talking about didn't make it onto his as his was one of the last mk1s in the country .
    Thanks for the comment though

Hey, very nice job! I just today, bought a 1978 Lemans mark 1 - I guess these never came with air filters... are you planning on installing them?

Very good job. I am searching for a few months for the silver colour of the guzzi wheels. Could you say me the type of colour that you have chosen? Thank you. Greetings from Germany.

The wheels were powder coated at a local shop an i simply asked them for silver. i am afraid i have no clue what shade or type of silver. sorry.

@@arlangner thank you so much for your answer. Now I have also a powder coated Rim in silver. It looks perfect/original.

This is great!! I have a Le mans II and really want to do the MK1 headlight/fairing/instrument panel conversion. I'm pretty confident I can handle most of the work but the wiring is a little insane, so if you have any advice that would be awesome. thanks!

You lucky devil - where did you get a mk1 from? - that's what i really wanted (hence the makeover)... i have absolutely no desire to fit air filters... it would go against the grain...
my feeling is - filters = wuss. LOL
anyway - good luck with your project
