Yeah, especially when there's at least 1 player on the team who's trying to win while the rest are motivated by a streamer to throw and shit it's like weird
My take is that it’s okay to soft throw once you reach a rank we’re you can stay steadily whilst throwing. If I soft threw I’d probably drop to low diamond or plat, but then it’s fine because I’m playing at the skill level of everyone else around me.

I take issue with high SR streamers being mad that sleepy is ruining their games while having smurfs where they ruin other people’s games.

Sebastian Ramirez i’ve played in all ranks between bronze and masters and this is always blown out of proportion, so many times that there are smurfs that pop off, they’re usually stuck in the rank they’re playing in or a few 100 sr higher. people act like gms play in plat often. it really doesn’t happen that much, stop whining about this in 2020 💀 i don’t mean to be that guy, but if you’re good enough, you will climb. you won’t win every game that’s for sure, but you will climb. i play in masters on almost a daily basis and i was previously in gold, plat and diamond for like more than a year until i hit masters, and there are WAY more smurfs in masters. a gm player also actually is more impactful in a masters game because his team works with him whilst in plat you actually can lose pretty easily due to the teams working completely differently, i mean just watch samito and his t500 friend playing tank on smurfs and trying to get out of plat. now as i said smurfs are more common in my experience in masters, and whilst sometimes it feels unfair, almost every time it’s very much possible to win.

Not in all of those clips. The only difference between the sideshow clips and sleepy's is the rank. Basically Sleepy is under fire as a result of being good at the game.
That being said, Harb's take is fairly accurate imo.

Throwing with your friends is certainly better since he knows them. they probably know he's an idiot and they'll get mad at him,and then laugh and move on. You can't compare solo or duo'ing and soft throwing versus doing so in a 6 stack. They agreed to deal with him when they hit play

But if you watch his streams you will know that he doesn’t soft throw a lot in a stream, when he does it’s usually for that moment, and more often than not his teammates are ok with it.

Sleepy helped bring back some love for overwatch for me personally. I literally quit the game before sleepy showed me that you could still have fun in this trash game if you stopped taking everything so seriously. Overall sleepy is good for the community because he really does buff casual interest, who actually cares about SR in the year 2020, lmao. (And yes, I called the game trash, delete that damn hamster and doomfist already ffs, lol)

I have no problems with this video at all but, throwing existed way back before dafran "threw" that game in alot of games before overwatch, and i thought the dafran throw thing was already addressed that he jumped off cuase they already lost that round and they were just getting ready for next round so idk why would you include that int he video :/
to add upon this, the rest of the team are on record saying that they agreed that they lost the round and that they were talking strategy for the next. dafran didn't throw in that clip on Genji lol

For me the standard is: if in a ranked game you're purposefully not playing well (doing things that you know will harm your team), or refuse to switch when its actually necesary, then you're throwing. If you just play badly because you can't play better then of course that's not throwing, that's just your current skill level.

Austin Bailey smurfing isn’t ban worthy. Throwing to get to a low sr rating to maintain it for smurfing is ban worthy. But not smurfing in general. Everytime someone buys a new acc they can’t ban you for playing in gold if you’re masters or GM, bc you could climb up there as a smurf.

@@dylangray3895 Smurfing is a bannable offense in every competitive game. Any game with a ranking system has rules stating that smurfing ruins the balance of matchmaking and is therefore bannable. Of course, more often than not those rules aren't acted on, but smurfing IS bannable. Unlike soft throwing 1 teamfight every 50 games.

because the streamer does it for content while the random guy will do it just to troll his team, also the streamers dont get hate because their viewers elo is not affected and they just have fun seeing the streamer "throwing". A lot of the times people forget that videogames are just for having fun. Also sometimes the team dont usually blame the streamer whos trolling so that adds up. Also they people throwing gives a bit of a change to the matches, lots of people who are in gm and top500 plays too much in a day to reach a point where he is just getting bored of the game, but if a tm8 is trolling there is a chance where he can have fun and relax a bit. Oh and we all have the "avoid player" option so if people like jay3 and chipsa dont like that for example that sleepy throws matches just avoid him so he cant throw your matches, if everybody avoids him cause everybody hates trowers and think it isnt funny people who throw will not have people to play with.

Not that you are gonna tryhard, mind you. It's ok to go ranked and chill, but sleepy sometimes straight up looses his team the game. That's messed up. I'm ok with it if they are all vibing together, but if you have one single player that is trying, you have to at least stop throwing, because if you don't you ruin that player's enjoyment of the game. If you, to enjoy the game, have to soft throw, your place is not high elo competitive play.

He's a great player and while his content is funny and I used to watch him a lot, I think he needs to just move on to a different game. If the only entertainment you can find out of a game is throwing games for your teammates, you should find a new one that challenges you. It's just disappointing that pretty much all of his content is him memeing, trolling, and throwing when he's one of the best support players in the world.

Ok so Sleepy doesn’t throw intentionally, and as someone who watches his streams often, he literally never does that. Compared to every other example on this video , you can tell that what he did was unintentional, whereas others are doing things like conventional throwing. Normally when people complain he takes the game seriously

I've been playing overwatch since season 4. and each season I've tried so hard to climb. I climb from silver to plat and that was when all my friends use to play with me and I had a 6 stack. All my friends had stop playing overwatch and last season I just said fuck it and have been playing the game similar to sleepy. It's not that sleepy is throwing. It's that he's not taking it so seriously. Because taking the game so seriously gets you nowhere, unless you have a brother that can get you into OWL lol

If Sleepy was actively throwing, then his rank would fall to the point that he wouldn't be getting into these high Masters/GM games. He's plays well enough to stay in his current placement, but probably could go further if he tryhard mode it. There is nothing wrong with the way he currently plays.

Everyone makes mistakes but in all fairness everyone just wants to have fun. Sleepy memes a lot and definetely throws some games, but it's overwatch, everyone gets unlucky. Theres literally no difference between sleepy meming and losing a team fight and losing a team fight because chipsa is a one trick and gets hard countered. So i'm not really sure why chipsa is complaining when hes probably thrown hundreds of games by not knowing how to play any heroes.
I personally feel like high elo players throw so often because they know if they lose theyll just win the next game. They'll always be in that elo, why should they care to try? They get content AND stay in that elo. Its a win-win to them.

In my opinion, sticking to a certain playstyle, even tough it's far from being the best, is ok (like one-tricks, flanking as orisa, and playing the rollout doomfist), also i wanna mention that getquakedon doesn't do it for his montage, but for the fun of it. The reason why i'm ok with it is because is you stick with this playstyle, you're gonna end up in a rank appropriate with your playstyle. I am a little bit less ok with sleepy though, because instead of doing something else than the optimal playstyle, he is purposely not doing anything so he gets content. Though i have to agree with Harbleu, if his team is ok with it, there's no reason not to do it

The way I see it is if you get enough reports then ban, just because streamers show their gameplay doesn't mean they should be held up to a higher standard. For example if someone who had no platform did this once then no one would know about it and only get at most 11 reports that if people even decide to bring it up to light

its a symptom of a game thats ranked system has literally no meaning to a majority of the players. any top player can 3 stack to rank 1, any competent player can 3 stack on-meta to gm, what else is there to achieve in a ranked system that hasn't changed since season 2?

All I'm gonna say is with the piledriver and the subsequent headshots sleepy likely wouldn't have been able to save the zen anyway. We've all fucked around for a few seconds in the beginning stages of a fight.
It looked like sleepy was right in the middle of repostioning for the next fight when he got distracted. Regardless i genuinely don't think he actually could have saved the Zen. Unless he kept eyes on Zen the whole time it wasn't gonna make a difference

Btw dafran wasn’t throwing in that clip in the beginning of the video. The team already gave up on that game and started talking about the next one. They swapped to stall hero’s cause there used to it.
