Je ne suis absolument pas d'accord avec vous. Céline chante cette chanson avec son coeur, après les attentats, elle s'approprie totalement, profondément, cette chanson. Elle réussit à faire passer le message qu'Edith Piaf avait voulu faire passer, mais ce, pour une raison bien différente. Il faut remettre la chanson dans son contexte, et la raison pour laquelle la chanteuse a choisi de la chanter de cette facçon. C'est une chanson d'amour chargée d'émotion et faite pour en donner. Réussite totale ici même si elle ne la chante pas du tout comme Piaf ou comme Céline l'aurait fait en d'autres circonstances.

When french soldiers make military exercices with any NATO troop, they have to speak english, at least for NCO or Officers. Celine sings this song with her Heart, after the Paris attacks, she totally, deeply appropriated this song. She managed to get the message across what Edith Piaf wanted to convey, but with the exception it was for a very different reason. We have to put the song in context, and the reason why the singer chose to sing it and it this way. It is an emotionally charged love song made to give it away. Total success here even if she does not sing it at all as Piaf or as Céline would have done in other circumstances.
Her voice cracks, but minimally given the charged emotions at the time. Not only was there such a horrendous attack in Paris, her husband and brother were dying of cancer. I think rather focus on the effort and emotion.

Céline sing like Céline. It’s beautiful. She doesn’t try to imitate Edith Piaf. Nobody is able to imitate Piaf. Bravo Céline.
