Whitney threw her critics a big ole MIDDLE FINGER!! They picked through her not so performances when she was clearly sick and put them all over the media. And people still sit around and wonder why and talk about why she struggled so with addiction.
I agree. With Whitney it's not as much about the range as it is about the POWER. That's why I find it stupid when people compare Whitney to people like Mariah Carey... Mariah wins the range everytime, but Whitney wins the power! :)
I don't really get the comparison between MC and WH either. Whitney with an extremely vibrant, dark (wieghty) timbre that contains massive amount of power and clarity, while Mariah has a naturally lighter (very bright and floaty IMO), colorful voice that produces notes with superhuman agility/flexability and infinite freedom..with a 5oct. range. Even their delivery and interpretation is different..They may share a few traits in stylistic choices, but overall, I don't see the comparison.
it wasn't that high. That was a simple D5..the middle of a mezzo's range. This is a step above C5, which is about the middle of a female's voice and beginning of the 5th octave..Nothing about that D5 screamed "sfagato soprano" p.s - It was a MONSTER belt, though..I forgot how huge the column of sound was that could come out of her mouth..
Kmaur21 always increase the pitch in Whitney notes. He claims that she has a whistle register and that she could belt up to Eb6. LMAO I don't know what's wrong with him, though.
Look how powerful her voice still was. This gave me goosebumps. Shame the media never showed performances like this.
Whitney simply slayed. Most singers nowadays can't sing with such musical and vocal competence.
Sing that soprano girl!
soprano no, is mezzo
@@JoseCarlos-cm4xi Never mezzo
That girl can BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ending that “yeah” she’s saying numerously.....that is what I love to hear....that voice.......!!!!

2:48 - Only Whitney!

Whitney Houston belting a Eb6?!? What type of delusion...
She has belting a Eb6 and has a whistle register as well live boo! Whitney had that super range and power she choose to use when she felt like.
She has belt a Eb6 before in mixed voice in 80's
