So true! Nepal India border customs officials are so corrupted, they just look for Tibetans to take money. When we used to travel to schools they just want money from children also. And also when you travel via Gorakpur they look for Tibetans to rob money, they have gangsters waiting especially for Tibetans in railway stations.
I have crossed that nepal india border l know ur feeling…so u r right sunauli is the toughest but if you have good document not adhaar card you have no problem thats y we tibetan face lots of problems in sunauli border and krishnanagar is loose for tibetan as they accept adhaar card too. But l was also caught at sunauli border because the driver changed route of krishnanagar to sunauli. So me plus lots of tibetans in bus got caught in the borders.people with good documents are sent to the bus but we are held in the office with our adhaar card taken in their account. He checked my phone to see if l am any spy and saw my father green book and told me who is that. So l replied my father and told that its tibetan green book so he asked my green book. I show him mine as it was in my waist pocket because l applying for visit visa from india. The unbelievable thing is that it worked out well. So tibetan if you have green book it will work too they know our department and government is in dharamsala. All tibetan in india should experience such things in Nepal india border.
By Aadhar card You can travel from ktm to badhapur by flight then book taxi and travel to Darjeeling border almost 3 hours with Aadhar card very easy with no issues
A suggestion and in fact this would save you a lot in future at least you do not have to face this kind of tension. Go to Nangsi (Home Office, Dharamsala) with your RC, get a recommendation letter and then go to Liaison Office, opposite to Bhagsu Hotel in McLeod Ganj. From there, you request for a recommendation letter and show your RC - to issue a 'No objection letter' and free travel. That is what you said and also by the Officer there which is the proper channel. In this way, they won't harass and ask for anything. As soon as they see your letter from the Liaison Office/Officer with Ashoka emblem, it is self-explanatory. This is by far the authentic documentation especially whenever you enter sensitive borders. You will save money and have the confidence. In this way, these corrupt officials have less access to inappropriate handling on the border area.
You guys r adults and educated, influencer in exile and getting this kind of unexpected experience are not nice but now we can imagine that how our parents have gone through this kind of struggle in their whole life and now today's life we are also facing this difficulties in those border area. So then what for our CTA? Is it just for the paying tax for green books and yellow books ? And doing nothing for this big issue..
Cross the bridge from kakarvita is Indian check post. There you must tell them u r going to kalimpong or Darjeeling school to see your children. Don’t say sikkim or other part of India. Also that check post highest police officer is Tibetan as I know.
If they restrict to go through kakarvitta ,u can go back to the nearest border called pashupati border .In my view the best border is Kunuwa (UP) and Mahendra Nagar (Tanagpur)
All my Tibetan brother and sister never be nervous as I m self I got no any paper I got only our green book just stay inside the van or bus don't get nervous crossing boarder is not hard just chill I have gone many time from Delhi to KTM without paper work

Bus conductor really hates Tibetan. He always complain Tibetan name to the kakarbida border police. Once there was Tibetan mom n son came the same route. He complained them directly to police. N even used bad words to the mother. So her son merely had fight with that conductor. So the conductor don’t like Tibetan… best way at kakarbida border is, don’t fight with police, tell them India is my home n I don’t hv money to go back to Nepal. Then just sit at the border remain silence. Whether u argue with them or not, they will hold u for hours. Just sit there n tell them u don’t hv money to go to Nepal. Then after they will let u go.
For Tibetan....in that in the case if certain Tibetan face such circumstances in kakarvitta then there is one more border side somewhere near in kakarvitta........we faced the same situation in kakarvitta with some monks but we cross our border with aadharcard from that place

Sunauli borders for tibetan: RC updated or IC or Passport or voter id or driving license or student ID Not adhaarcard will work Krishnanagar : above document plus adhaar card will work Kakarbita: above document plus adhaar card will work The main thing for nepal India border is that you need to be tough so that they will not be able to charge you any money. I remember one brother who travel with me told police to not pay a single penny and he said he rather go back to nepal as he was from Tibetan camp from pokhara. The funny thing was that the police is reducing the charge like begging. 500 to 150 to 100 and saying abey 100 rupay dedo na!! I remember that very well. After that incident l pass many border in nepal india border like a pro. You will not believe l have only adhaar card yet it worked also l showed tibetan green book recently and get pass from the sunauli border. I am telling truth. I know many tibetans face lots of border issues.
Were they not allowed to enter in Nepal or almost not allowed to return India? And because of what reason! finding answer to the root cause is the ultimate solution. That’s what I think!
What’s the solution? Suggesting about easier border to cross? May be in an emergency situation or for a short term. But it isn’t a long term solution. Sounds like people commenting here have hardly got the root cause of the problem. That’s being a Tibetan you are not allowed to travel freely without certain “affidavit letter”. At least places being mentioned in this video. Tibetan people in India Being grateful for India is a great gesture and should be but at least do know the laws and rights you have and don’t have being born in India as a Tibetan and more.

They prefer voter id . some times its border to border or person to person. it is ur fault that you dont have full information. They anyhow doing this for their money ( bribe) . For refugees it is very difficult while traveling, even if u have travel documents of refugee Id. Once I have encountered that 10 years back while traveling from 🇮🇳 to 🇳🇵 ,the border police from both sides while checking the id, they were like burglars, they didn't even charge the amount which is according to rule but they directly put their hands to grab money as they want in one old Refugee man , I was shocked to see how those uniform so called law maintaining guys. Disgusting. This happens in both border .the fact is that if you are abiding the law there is nothing to fear, so it is not good to give money to any police or border person, they will get use to taking bribes . In such case if these border person are behaving against law, better to take videos, since you guys seems fearful they are taking advantages.

We went through Adhar card n must carry rc or ration card … from sanoali border.. best option is voter id or pass port.. can go by flight easily..
