Elliot was great as Buford cause of that "I've led a soldier's life" speech in "Gettysburg." It got out of what Buford was thinking but probably never said. I've been there of course. All the statues and monuments, Jesus Christ! General Buford, a guy who died of exposure six months after Gettysburg . That means he was outside constantly. On demand. Damn, the dedication. That is what people should remember about Buford, Josua Chamberlin and George Custer. They had toughness and stamina.

Prancer, which doesn't seem like a film he'd do- my favorite. I've seen practically everything he's done, and that film is weirdly my favorite. It stands out to me, because there are so many elements. And seeing it as a child, and on the balance of "is Santa real" and then raising kids in hard times... he was magnificent in that movie, and I'll remember him forever for that one. Also, Mask.

    • @kristenyard2619

I’m a single mom and I watch Prancer throughout the year whenever I need some motivation through trying times. He is amazing in that film, and he’s matched line for line as far as screen presence and energy goes by Rebecca Harrell Tickell. They were so believable as father and daughter that I always forget I’m watching a film. I wish that more movies today held onto that genuine realness of movies from the 80s and early 90s. The cast looked like people who live next door, and the storylines were relatable, etc.

Road House may not have been his greatest movie from an artistic standpoint, but I still maintain that it was so bad it was AWESOME, and one of the main reasons for the awesome part was Sam Elliott as Wade Garrett, simply the coolest role he ever played (which is saying a LOT). So how cool is Sam Elliott himself? He got Katharine Ross. He KEPT Katharine Ross. Any questions?

I remember hearing about how serious he took his role.in We Where Soldiers. I believe it was a extra or small part after. That tried to speak to him in-between takes.that he was less than friendly with. after the shooting was over.he apologized to the guy.and said he tried to stay in role till shooting was done.
