The thing is is that it’s much harder to get the grades that’s why the grading system is a lot lower for people doing hier tier. If u do foundation tier 5 would be a fail. Make sense.
I was taught a song in music class in 3rd grade where we sing the states in alphabetical order. Because of that annoyingly catchy tune, I will always know how to name all of the states 😂
as a U.S. citizen, I can't name any of the states in the middle. like after the coastal ones I'm done. also I love how the substitute teacher who gives you the answer is also a thing in England!
To everyone thinking they’ve confused geology for geography: in the U.K. we are taught all of that within geography as one subject, and I only remember in-depth map reading being learned in regards to map *types*, and not at all about where any actual countries were 😂 We know the shit out of rivers and ox bow lakes though 💪🏻
Was that OS city map question accurate? Maybe I'm just old (same age as the twins) but we didn't learn how to navigate city maps in schools. Or the OS system (of course).
@@margauxf4321 I’m 35 and I remember being taught OS maps, topographic maps etc in Geography, but I feel like it was more like year 7 or 8 rather than the later GCSE years
Yes! I don't know if they do it any differently now but I'm going to assume not 😂 we got taught how to identify different clouds and whether rocks were igneous or metamorphic, but bollocks all about where countries are. We can identify ourselves, Ireland as a bonus because it's next door, and Italy because it's shaped like a boot. That's it 😂
This is what we learn in geography in the UK, they're not treated as separate subjects at all. We cover rocks and tectonic plates, clouds, the type of maps that have train stations and shit on, volcanoes, lakes and rivers... But sweet fuck all about where countries are on a map. They basically name the continents and tell us Italy is shaped like a boot. It's a really shit curriculum.
I will say that my old Millennial eyes are extremely nearsighted so I'm legally blind but can see up close better than most people... But I'm also legally blonde and cannot read a map, so I can see the tiny details but when I try to locate the train station my brain just goes blank and starts playing elevator music.
I always forget how more forgiving school grading is in other parts of the world... In the U.S., a 5/10 is an F; failing. A 6/10 is a D, a 7/10 a C, 8/10 a B, 9/10 an A-, and 10/10 an A. In uni, you have to get a C+ overall to pass a class and have it count for your major. C or below and it's do-over time. It's brutal.
In my high school, 94% was an A (90-93) was B- and below 65% was failing. I’m not sure why they thought that was doing any of us any favors? I never turned in homework but aced all my tests and my high school transcript would look a lot nicer if they had just stuck to the system you describe like everywhere else in the country 🙄 I took a university class in Canada and was amazed that A went all the way down to 80 something percent
Also, I was a language assistant outside Paris and the teacher asked me to grade some of the middle schooler’s little projects with me. I don’t understand the system and told her so (we were not supposed to be handing out grades). So the lowest grade I gave was a 16/20 and the boy said to me, “Thank you so much for the good grade!!” 😅 I think they would consider 10/20 something like our C, like a 70/100
watching them try to work through some of these where not only is their answer wrong but every single part of their process getting there is BONKERS. hilarious!
this test seems to be both geography (countries, states, maps of the train station etc) and geology (glaciers, mud, layers of the planet etc) all mixed up. are they taught together in england?
I'm not from the UK but we were once a colony of theirs so we adapted a lot of their institute structures, one of which was education. There two types of schools in my country: One of them is where they teach you Geography, History and Social Studies separately and the other is where they teach you all of them integrated into one subject called Environmental Studies. In both situations Geography covers interior of Earth, the solar system, soil, the levels of rocks, agriculture, oceans, climate change, the weather (how to read it, natural disasters, and types), etc. We don't have Geology and Environmental Studies is compulsory, but we can further our studies by choosing any of the three subjects in much more detail. This counts as a separate exam so you'll have one for Environmental Studies with all students of the country and another exam for the chosen subject (it can be Geography, Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Home Ec., Accounts, Textiles, Graphical Communications, languages, etc)
@@as19J01 I appreciate this detailed info, i actually have quite an interest in school systems around the world. i learned basic geology and social studies in grade school (early part of schooling) but in high school geology covered from inside the earth to solar system, weather, etc and you just had to have 3 years science of choice. most ppl did bio, chem, physics. we had a mandatory year of geography/world humanities in high school however, and plenty of related electives.

James' hand demonstrating the Amazon River 😂😂😂
“I’m just counting all my eggs before they give BIRTH” 🥚🍳
SIR I WAS EATING AND DRINKING BREAKFAST😂🙈😩
These quiz videos are the best 😂😂
As a Swiss individual, I always get so offended at the lack of knowledge people have about Switzerland 😂 seriously, it’s an amazing country, I’m so proud to be from here🇨🇭great video as usual, you guys always make my day!!
Choked on my curlywurly at the Encarta 95 reference 😂👌
I'm so touched🥺 I'm from Finland and you almost know where it is😂💜
when robert looks into the camera and says "you fucking b*tch".... dead LOL
Twins: 5 out of 10 that’s like a C or a D
Americans: That’s an F
Iirc grading over there is totally different from here in the U.S., so I think what would be higher F's here would still be passing there.
The thing is is that it’s much harder to get the grades that’s why the grading system is a lot lower for people doing hier tier. If u do foundation tier 5 would be a fail. Make sense.
Love the Harry Potter ties. Very professional 😆
🤣🤣 these are just average English school uniform ties!
@@thewelshtwins Hogwarts is an average Scottish school!
GEOGUESSER HAD ME WHEEZING! MARCUS, YOURE A GOD!
I loved this video, it was so fun! I wouldn't mind more knowledge or fun-fact quizzes. It's fun to watch and play along to!
Lol “I couldn’t name all the American states”
Most Americans can’t either 😂
I can name them all in alphabetical order but couldn't tell you where they all are on the map! 😂
@@bridget663 same
That’s reminded me of that Friends episode that if you couldn’t make all 50 states then you couldn’t eat 🤣🤣
I was taught a song in music class in 3rd grade where we sing the states in alphabetical order. Because of that annoyingly catchy tune, I will always know how to name all of the states 😂
@@brittanyfraser9838 same here!!
Omggg those ties, giving off SERIOUS DR VIBES
I was dying at you going back and forth over some of these answers. Love you guys, lol
I'm actually crying at the Eurotunnel conversation, thank you so much guys this is a masterpiece
as a U.S. citizen, I can't name any of the states in the middle. like after the coastal ones I'm done. also I love how the substitute teacher who gives you the answer is also a thing in England!
I feel so intellect now. Many thank yews x
Aw definitely do other topics, that was fun to guess along :)
I lost it when they said Chile while looking at the Indian Ocean. 😂😂
That's it 😂
@@KittyCat260 yes! The hydrological cycle was covered, as were volcanos, but you better learn where the countries or cities are in your own time 😂
@@AmyGH8 "this is how lava works but if you want to know where France is you'd best get on the ferry" 😂
That doesn’t make geographical sense to me lmaoooo I love them both 🤧🤧🤧
Do we get a Marcus reacts as he’s editing this? 😂😂
Would love to hear his commentary😂
@@DiamondsLilRooster I think the facial expressions alone would be sufficient 😂
I agree!
I love how they combine geology with geography and think they’re the same 💚💙
we’re taught them both as one subject in the uk, more of our geography is actually about rocks and stuff than it is about countries lol
@@Alexwilkins27 Same in Canada!
In europe we get them both in 1 class
This is what we learn in geography in the UK, they're not treated as separate subjects at all. We cover rocks and tectonic plates, clouds, the type of maps that have train stations and shit on, volcanoes, lakes and rivers... But sweet fuck all about where countries are on a map. They basically name the continents and tell us Italy is shaped like a boot.
It's a really shit curriculum.
They're treated the same in the US as well.
I'm from Portugal and I wanna know where did Robert think Portugal was 🤣🤣🤣 great video guys 💜
Yaaayyy Finland loves you too James!! Come visit 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
The facts you guys didn't know where Belgium or Chile was, is basicallly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, being halF Belgian/half Chilean.
Those body parts were sooo cool! She’s incredibly talented at her craft!!
I just absolutely love that you used Glacier Mints to help you with your answer 😂
Encarta 95????? Wow! Talk about a millennial throwback! And my millennial eyes couldn’t see the map for the train station question! Love you guys
Everything I knew about the world back then I learned from either Encarta or the Where in the World is Carmen San Diego PC game lololol
I will say that my old Millennial eyes are extremely nearsighted so I'm legally blind but can see up close better than most people... But I'm also legally blonde and cannot read a map, so I can see the tiny details but when I try to locate the train station my brain just goes blank and starts playing elevator music.
Robert: what's next to us James: Everything
Hahaha
Yay. Glad you liked your PO box box. Also, thank you fir letting me put my otherwise completely useless geography and geology knowledge to use.
I never turned in homework but aced all my tests and my high school transcript would look a lot nicer if they had just stuck to the system you describe like everywhere else in the country 🙄
I took a university class in Canada and was amazed that A went all the way down to 80 something percent
Also, I was a language assistant outside Paris and the teacher asked me to grade some of the middle schooler’s little projects with me. I don’t understand the system and told her so (we were not supposed to be handing out grades). So the lowest grade I gave was a 16/20 and the boy said to me, “Thank you so much for the good grade!!” 😅
I think they would consider 10/20 something like our C, like a 70/100
You mentioned Encarta and really unlocked some deep, deep memories
I got all of them right but I almost got talked out of the correct answers a few times LOL
watching them try to work through some of these where not only is their answer wrong but every single part of their process getting there is BONKERS. hilarious!
this test seems to be both geography (countries, states, maps of the train station etc) and geology (glaciers, mud, layers of the planet etc) all mixed up. are they taught together in england?
Yea! We learn about clouds and stuff also. I honestly can’t remember learning the world map!
In schools, yes
In the Netherlands it’s also 1 subject. It’s called geography class but you get some geology in there too
Finland is here, right behind the screen! You should come for a visit!
This was the best…. I am a science teacher and you two are cracking me up…. 🤣 😂
Marcus... bless you for this.
I held my breath during the Africa question 😂 So happy you got that one right
I love the embroidery of organs! Very wicked cool.
And it was such a joy to see you guys do trivia. More of this please!
