😂 Yeah, a review by a 6ft tall man definitely doesn't help us women! I haven't found an issues with the belt being too loose personally, my waist measurement is floating around 27 inches currently. Thank you for sharing, Acacia! The Colorado Rockies have soooo much to offer in the summer. We lived there for 32 years before moving to Oregon and were in and around the Leadville area often. And when you are in that area, Buena Vista can be a great "base camp". As for the Shimoda bags, I love them. All of your comments were spot on. I am a 5'8" male but with a long torso. So I set the straps in the L setting which allows the (excellent) waste belt to sit on my hips. That said, I usually use this bag without the waste belt. As I expect you know by now, reconfiguring the storage is a common thing. And this is OK! Especially if you have different gear setups. If I need to carry more clothing/gear (winter/snow outings) I will carry less camera gear and sometimes use the small mirrorless core unit. And I see you found a spot for your Peak Design Capture mount. Also a great invention and glad it fits (mostly) on your strap! Keep exploring. Be safe. Love your pics.

Thanks for the video (just found it)! I'm looking for a hike/camera pack,. Ironically I have same osprey/inset set up you did. Now I have a zoom that is 10" long, and so the old set up wont work as well. First question is will a Sigma zoom lens with mount (10-11") lens fit in the pack for easy access? Second question is when taking photos, how easy is it to quickly grab the camera from the pack while hiking? - And thank you for braving the mosquito swarms for the wonderful video!
First, sorry for the delay in replying to your comment/questions. Somehow it slipped through the cracks. Without having the exact camera setup, I am going to have to make some guesses. I have the Explorer 30 L pack and the medium mirrorless core unit. My setup wouldn't work with a 10-11" lens because the inside dimensions of the core unit are 10.6" x 10.6". However, the 35 L options with a large core unit might work. Their website has a lot of dimensions for the different bags and core units. Definitely worth checking out. As for accessing the side entrance panel and ease of getting the camera out. I struggle to access the side compartment of the bag while wearing the bag or accessing the back compartment, but that might be more of a "I'm short and therefore it's more of a challenge for me" than a design problem. 🤷🏼♀️ I only recently swapped out the straps from the women's petite simple straps for the women's tech straps, so previously I was using the Peak Design Capture Clip on the strap and not having to enter the pack unless I was swapping lenses. Sadly, the tech straps are too wide for the clip, so I am trying to get used to entering the bag while it's still attached to my body. Overall though I love the bag and my only regret is not waiting a bit longer to get it in teal. 😉😂 Let me know if you have any other questions! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
Hi! Great question! I think the 30L would be too small to fit all the gear you mentioned. The 35L with the large core unit probably would depending on your lenses. I hope that helps! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
Great to see the landscape in your neck of the woods Acacia! It is so difficult to find the right camera backpack but I think the Explore V2 hit the mark. I am looking for a backpack that I can use for traveling and hiking with the camera gear, now I have to decide on the size I need. What size core unit are you using? I am using a Z6 with a L-bracket.
Thank you! I have the 30 Litre pack with a medium cube. While I don't have an L bracket with my Z6, the cube is adjustable, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Let me know if you have any additional questions! I love the bag and have no regrets.
@@AcaciaFikeNelson Hi Thx you for the reply! I watched your video again, you did mentioned it was a medium cube, sorry. I was eyeing the medium DSLR cube because I want to lay the camera sideways with the grip facing upwards so decisions, decisions, was originally considering the 35L but now it is between the 25L or 30L. Just remembered long ago I was in Fruita, Co.
@@stevencheung889No worries! I was originally debating between the 25 L and the 30 L, but ultimately went with 30 L for the extra space. I didn't want to realize in a year that I wish I had gone with the 30! Good luck!!
Do you have an update to this vid? Especially regarding the Petite Simple vs. Petite Technical fits. Did you ask them to test and compare the technical strap vs. the simple strap to see how it works for a 4'11" youn'g woman? If not, and a year later you still love this rig, consider doing so... Just a suggestion for additional vender interaction.... I'm not one of the petite folks but have a daughter that is so I relate to this post from experience of trying to be the good Daddy... I personally had a challenge providing her what she needed in some cases... Growing up I had my own challenge... I was left Handed living in the 60's.... I received a baseball glove from my grandparents as mine couldn't afford to buy me one... It was a right handed glove, I was left handed, I had to keep throwing my glove off between pitches... what a disadvantage that was for pitching... this just didn't work.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and share your story. I actually just received the women's technical straps for Christmas and plan to do an update video about the difference between the two straps. I haven't had a chance to go out and hike with the bag since I just sent my camera off for some repairs last week. 🫤 What I can share is that straps are a bit wider than the petite straps, so I will be curious to see how that feels hiking around with camera gear. Hopefully, I will be able to get out there in the next week or so to test it out further. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Have a fantastic day! 📸🥾
Did you consider the 35L or 40L or find the 30L is sufficient for day hikes? I have a 200-500mm lens and wonder if I should go for the 35L with the large mirrorless.
I do find the 30L is sufficient for my equipment and day hikes. When I was trying to decide on the bag side, I was actually comparing between the 25L and the 30L because I didn't want something too large because I am so short. I know the interior of the medium mirrorless core unit is 10.6 inches by 10.6 inches so. On Shimoda's website, the pictures for the large mirrorless core unit shows some larger lens in the bag and they also have a guide to help you see what core unit fits best with which bags. I personally have no regrets going with the 30L, any bigger and it would be too burdensome for my under 5ft self. Hope that helps!
I haven't done any overnight hiking trips with this bag or my camera gear, but I have fit a change of clothes and a small pack towel, and a rain jacket in this bag with no problems. They do make a 35L version of this bag, which would allow for more storage opportunities.
That's awesome! I really love my Shimoda bag. Having used it now for well over a year now, I can comfortably say I have no regrets with the purchase. There are a few pockets that I don't use (mainly because of where I put my tripod), but I still find that it meets my needs. The only thing I plan on changing is the straps. I currently have the simple straps, but I really want to give the technical straps a try, which I believe are still the default straps it comes with. With a 200-600mm lens, do you mainly do wildlife photography??
@@AcaciaFikeNelson i also have the Sony 70-200mm 2.8 ii and have a 16mm 1.8 and the Sony a7R V and looking to get the Sony a9 iii when it comes out in march and yes I do a lot of wildlife photography but everything else in between also like the northern lights here in Alaska and flowers and waterfalls and just landscape and also love flying my drones to take videos and pics

Ultimately, I wanted the additional storage capacity of the 30L. I did go back and forth initially between the two sizes. I have no regrets with going with the 30L over the 25L.
Let me know if you have any other questions! Have a fantastic day! 📸😀
Hi. Can the 30L carry a DSR, one mirrorless camera, three lenses, and a DJi mini drone and remote?
Do you have separate bag for clothes and other stuff?
I haven't done any overnight hiking trips with this bag or my camera gear, but I have fit a change of clothes and a small pack towel, and a rain jacket in this bag with no problems. They do make a 35L version of this bag, which would allow for more storage opportunities.
I’m not a petite women lol I’m looking at getting the 70l one to be able to pack my 200-600mm lens with all my other ones
@@robertdoyle8972 That's awesome! Photographing the Northern Lights is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing what you're rocking with. Have a fantastic day!;
What made you decide on the 30L instead of the 25L?
Ultimately, I wanted the additional storage capacity of the 30L. I did go back and forth initially between the two sizes. I have no regrets with going with the 30L over the 25L. There have been a few instances where some of the slots in the cube don't carry any camera equipment, but for the times I want or need to carry everything I am covered. Ultimately, I wanted the extra space and didn't want to buy a new camera bag anytime soon! Let me know if you have any additional questions. Have a fantastic day! 📸
@@AcaciaFikeNelson That sounds smart. Enjoyed your content. thx!
@@sharvo6 You're welcome and thank you!
I feel the petite comments so much 😂 I am exactly your height, 109, and male.
😂 Oh the woes of being short!
Not sure why you are doing the talking near a loud waterfall 😂
