We were VERY impressed with them at the Annapolis boat show, so light & easy to handle. I was just worried that on really windy days they could blow up away from the side if you're rocking on and off the dock, but you just put a bit of water in the bottom & they stay put brilliantly. We didn't have room for big balloon fenders before and since we spend most of our life at anchor it will be lovely to be able to put fenders away & not have them rattling around all the time. Waiting for delivery!

For sure! We thought the same.
The only place I wondered about them was really dodgy harbour walls with all sorts of hidden puncture risks but to be honest a barge board is needed for that anyway.
It will be good to hear how you get on with them, please tell me you got custom embroidery too!

@@SailHub Oh yes the logo is on there, but Judy's getting worried, she pointed out I now don't own any clothes without Fair Isle embroidered on them. I might be getting carried away!

@@SVImpavidus Herbie from Rigging Doctor did offer to make me some knotted rope ones but our boats already 26 tons, half a dozen of them & we'll break the travel lift!

    Nice conceptt!
Floating thins are ALWAYS important when you are at sea, for surviving purposes.
A Helium container could even turn this thing to a balloon, visible miles and miles away.

Haha! I could rig my rig set up for the helium action! Fantastic!

@@SailHub I just remembered, Divers have mixed helium formulas for special situations. We never know... except if you're MacGyver.

Good Idea. However, textile fenders retain salt in crystal form, like fender sox do. This acts as an abrasive on gel coat marking and abrading the surface of your boat or the boat you are next to. I'll always have a few polite words with anyone with textile fenders or textile covered fenders next to me 😁 It's like having a blue gel coat boat next to you. They leave signs 😉

Yup, fender sox are a funny old thing, they harbour sand too.. agreed! On the same note though, normal feeders do tend to pick up abrasives and let’s be honest, most boats don’t seem to clean them enough. To look after the gel coat I would agree normal fenders are probably best… So long as they are clean!
Still, for an emergency fender the Fendertex get my vote and to be honest, like James said, they are pretty easy to wash, a lot easier than a crusty old school fender!

You take the sock off and wash it.

Great if you are doing long passages- conventional fenders just eat locker space or make the place look untidy. If you are a day or weekend sailor then this is not going to matter and likely not worth the cost premium.

    • @SailHub

I completely agree! Unless of course your weekend sailing is racing!

Nice product that offers some advantages over conventional fenders, but at 4 times the price compared to a leading brand in conventional fenders…….

For me I really like the idea of having some massive fenders for those stormy days and on those days I really would not begrudge the price!
For the average day though, I agree that the price probably exceeds the benefits for most sailors. It’s probably too much for me to warrant a whole boats worth but I think if I had the cash I probably would go for it. Especially for a fast boat or racing.
