That said, you may want to round those corners off on the top plate to eliminate the chance of opening up your kneecap or thigh by accident.
Just a suggestion, Im forever bashing my knees or shins in the shop haha!

I made a similar vice stand but out of super beefy 2" thick round pipe. That square column is going to be the weak link. I think more solid would have been better, but, all's well if you're happy with it.

Glad to see you got a nice big anvil.
Good solid stand, although my first choice to fill a tube is dry play sand.
The added weight will be great and kill some of the hollow sound.

Great work as always! I was a hairs breath away from getting a mint Fisher like this but with the price I decided to save a few coin and go with the Holland Anvil 190 lber. They’re a forge that’s relatively new to Anvil production this year but are doing all H13 Anvils in a variety of sizes. Any who. Great stuff as always!

Great Job, Super cool of Chris from Make Everything to pick that Anvil up for you. Like the stand design. That should stay in place. How much less effort does having the larger anvil save when moving metal? I just used a 50lb piece of metal for the No Forge Challenge and found it way harder to move the metal than on my 128lb anvil.
Thanks Chad!! Yeah thank god chris found that for me. Anything over 100 pounds that is hard is going to work pretty well and it’s also really important that its mounted to something solid, that makes a big difference

Great job! I was just given a Fisher-Morris just like it, but at 150lbs! I'm polishing it now.
Just a note - you really should learn the technique of lifting with your legs - the way you were lifting put all the stress on your mid-back. I recommend a lesson or two in deadlifting.

Very good job Paul, why use those rock things, I see most people use sand, I think it helps deaden the ring on the anvil, how did the ring go on this anvil when finished?
Thanks Len! And no particular reason I just figured most of the sand I could find would be damp which I wouldn’t want and fishers are cast iron with a carbon steel face so they are known for being quiet

How does this sound in person?? Not sure why I’m just now seeing this video. But I did my anvil the exact same way except I used dry play sand . And it sounds awful. It killed the classic anvil sound. It sounds dead and hollow. I packed the sand but maybe it’s settled more I’m not sure. Just curious how yours sounds.
I’ve never heard of someone wanting to keep there anvil loud most of the time people do things to quite the ring because it gets annoying. But my fisher has a cast iron body and a carbon steel top so it’s not very loud to begin with.
Paul Pinto i understand the ring an all from the anvil. Mine just doesn’t sound right. It’s all steel and sounds like I’m beating on a piece of pipe. It just sounds weird. Glad that yours is working good
You are a very handsome young man, but can I give you a little advice? The old blacksmiths built their anvils on heavy oak blocks, pulled at the top of the iron hoop. The wood dampens the kickback so that it does not rebound back into the hand and the forged object does not jump so much. If you try it, you will know the change even by sound.
