See what Stephen did there? He just gave her all the space to say it and then let it shrink into people’s minds - no jokes, no nothing. That’s what I call a host who knows when something must be told or not. Good job letting her message be the last thing people will remember after watching this interview.

Or Colbert knew that there is nothing else to add. He’s smart enough to know that a man, or a host in general, doesn’t always have to give the last word. This was the exact right thing to do 😊 and exactly this is one of the reasons I always watch his show. He is such a respectful and respectable man and person.

    • @fang_xianfu

@@mikefriedman5635 Your statement that this is "acting... to forward an agenda" is kind of hilarious to me. I'd be pretty shocked if Gaga hadn't thought ahead to what her remarks might be. You know this was preplanned because he asked her a question about her activism, and they will have arranged beforehand what topics he might ask her about. She will have thought about how she might answer that question. She's probably made comments on this topic to people in private and had practice speaking about it.
And it's absolutely to push an agenda, except she was completely explicit about it. There was no subtext, she went to great lengths to lay out exactly what she was trying tell you. "Pushing an agenda" in this case is not a slur, that's just saying that she's speaking because she wants to make a point. I think she articulated that point very clearly, and now it's up to the listener to decide how they're going to react to that.
Sounds like your reaction was to search for a way to dismiss her and what she had to say, which is pretty gross.

5 minutes of honest insight does not a goddess make. She mentioned she's a sexual assault survivor. You do not survive to thrive without help and fighting your way through yourself to confront what was done to you by someone else, usually someone you've trusted.
But just because you have and done what needed to be done, and came to understand what happened, thus giving you the means to master yourself and your responses to triggers, does NOT confer some sort of all encompassing wisdom upon anyone.

John B. I have been a fan of hard rock and folk all my life. But there is something about Lady Gaga. Her Message w/ her music i really not about much sex, but it's ALL about self empowerment, compassion, diversity, tolerance and love. The first time I saw her live changed me, really, the second time i saw her I brought my son because I wanted him to see the happiness, and unity of people from all walks of life. And she is amazingly talented, and has many different hats! She is a classically trained musician, she plays piano like no ones business! If you haven't seen it, google oscars Gaga Julie Andrews. She does an awesome medley of Andrews songs in film. I think that was her breakout moment, people were floored. And her fans were like "yea, I told you so, do you get it now? "She is wonderful and so uplifting to her fans, and she is totally adored amongst them. And as you saw, she is a very articulate, intelligent person. And thats consistent, thats just simply the way she is. She is also an extremely kind person! LOVE me some GAGA!!!!

YB- She lied? And yet Kavanaugh admitted that he had a drink problem after he'd denied it, when under oath. He's lied about his boozing, gambling and even Stevie Wonder could see that he was coked out of his head when he made that embarrassing pile of BS in full view of the World. Also, why did his former roommate say, this week, that it must be terrible to see your attacker ascending to the highest job in the judiciary. If he does sue her it would be a good idea, not for him, but for her. He's already perjured himself , more than once, in the past two weeks. Bring it on, I say!!!!!!

Mr/Ms Bailey- How do you know whether Gaga has or hasn't received counselling to deal with her traumatic event? Counselling helps a person to recognise what their triggers are and how to deal with them in a therapeutic manner. And I had buried stuff from a childhood of pure misery which, like Gaga said, had been subconsciously boxed up and stored away.....only to explode following the death of my tormenter. I think it is very obvious that Gaga has been educated to a much higher level than the trumps of this world. Not everybody can get opportunities handed to them on a plate. Their behaviour has proven that they were not given work based on their intelligence but on who and what they know. A very unfair situation that exists in these kind of people all over the world.Trump and Kavanaugh are clearly the ones who have and Gaga is one of the ones who have to work for everything!

My former boss lost her fiancee to a car crash days before their marriage. For years she had no memory of what happened during the next two weeks after the fact. She didn't recall being brought in to identify his body, didn't recall the funeral, the people around her helping her dissolve the plans for the marriage, etc. It was many years later that those memories surfaced. So yes, Ms. Gaga, trauma works exactly like that.

Simply because they want attention and to be consoled. It’s such a victim mindset, and its disgusting. People go through things like that daily and things that are far worse than that. And many of those people don’t play the victim role constantly wanting attention and for people to feel bad for them. Instead, they’re survivors and strong people who are able to move on in a way that doesn’t involve telling people just so they get some kind of sympathy. Or if they are talking about it, it’s in a constructive way that’s helping others and preventing similar things from happening in the future. Not throwing a pity party like yourself. I'm a survivor as well and I've been saying EXACTLY the same thing. And I don't think you have to be an assault survivor to understand this. You just need to have a basic understanding of how the human brain works. Trump and his "genius IQ" (laughable) clearly doesn't get it. When something traumatic happens to you, you remember crazy details. I compare it to 9/11. Do you remember 9/10 clear as day? Probably not. But we all know where we were and what we were doing on 9/11. (Those of us who are old enough.)
Anyway...I LOVE Lady Gaga and she is the most amazing woman and a true gift. THANK YOU for saying this!!!

Walter Sobchak No, I can't be that dumb. I'm actually a member of MENSA. Are you? I'm going to guess you're not since you barely have a grasp of the English language. First of all, Kavanaugh was not on trial. Proving him innocent or guilty was not up for debate. The job of the Senate was to determine if he was the right man for the job. Second, THE POINT (which flew right over your head) is that just because a victim doesn't remember specifics, like how she got to the party, doesn't mean she doesn't remember the attack. It doesn't mean she's lying, as so many have implied. I wasn't talking about guilt or innocence either way. You're the one who brought that up. You seem pretty argumentative about this topic. Something in your past that you're worried about?

Gaga has consistently used her own experiences, tramas, chronic illness, talents, passion m, and voice in order to advocate for others who are facing similar challenges. When one of these challenges, sexual assault, moved to the forefront of national discourse, it just happened to coincide with the work that she had been doing on the issue for years now.

Ford is not a woman trying to get attention or trying to move up the ladder anywhere. There is enough evidence to suggest we should believe her. Believe all women? No. Be open to believing all women, yes absolutely. To me this was a battle of character and Ford proved to be the winner by a long shot. Trauma can do really strange things. When our father passed away at a young age, my older brother was very sad and didn't actually go to my father's funeral. Odd thing is, he has no memory of him. Like at all. I tell him days with details when we all spent time with my father, he looks at me, stares, and says, "Sorry, I just don't remember." I think to myself, how is that possible? It's like there is a mechanism in his mind he is not aware of. A wonderful and a fragile human being. I see this with people who can get hypnotized too. They inherently trust people as an approach to life, and keep a part of themselves unaware to themselves. Leads to a powerful imagination I think. Then there are people who have suffered abuse, and those people just don't get hypnotized. They don't trust people to that level where they can tell them how to interpret things. It's a stark contrast really, it makes me think of an old Turkish idiom which says, "He who burns their mouth from really hot soup, will even blow on yoghurt before he takes a spoon." An idiom which involves yoghurt of course is as Turkish as an idiom can get but that's beside the point. The way trauma affected me as an interrogation/torture survivor was that it made me paranoid. First thing my mind always goes to is how is this deceitful? Somebody could smile at me at a drive through and I think, is there poison in that burger? I still didn't get over the fact that anybody is vulnerable to being drugged and interrogated, but the fear faded away in the last 4 years. I don't think burgers are poisonous anymore for example, but at the time, they could have been. If people can get away with that, what else can they can away with? So responses to trauma seem to be highly variable from person to person. One thing is for certain, they are never the same again.

So we have NO crime scene, NO evidence and NO witnesses to corroborate her claims. But sure, let's grab our pitchforks and presume his guilt over an unsubstantiated accusation. And you should be questioning why Ford isn't taking her case to the police or criminal courts, you know why? She doesn't have a single shred of evidence to back her claims, it would go nowhere, investigating a ghost party that no one can identify, not even the accuser, you will never hear from her again because the job is done and democrats probably shot themselves in the foot with this circus if you take a look at most polls, especially considering if you look at the least biased voters, up to 70% of independents sided with Kavanaugh. That is the truth. An extremely brave, honest, and intelligent woman. She entered the lions den, knowing what was going to be done to her, but still determined to tell her story, out of a sense of duty and decency. That puts her a head and shoulders above every single GOP senator, and above any democratic senator who would have the gall to think of voting to confirm Kavanaugh. Those greedy corrupt old men are not fit to polish her shoes.

She was treated extremely nicely. They could've attacked her by pointing out the inconsistencies in her statements and behavior. Her accusations have no corroboration or evidence. Do you really want a system where a mere accusation is enough to destroy a person's career, reputation and potentially their whole life?

I love GaGa, she's one of very few celebs that's REAL & doesn't hide. I wish all of us survivors could get our story out there, but until then, powerful women have to stand up in our place, because right now, your assault survival story doesn't matter to the world unless you're famous, or the accused is famous...

It doesn't have to matter to the world, that's narcissistic thinking. It has to matter to the local authorities though. You have to understand that if there's word against word, no physical evidence and no other corroborating evidence, we simply can't judge the potential perpetrator for a crime.

I'm trying to let it out of the box without killing myself so I can survive better. It is hard. You inspire me. We'll see if I make it. Thank goodness for my psychologist and psychiatrist, but it's still up in the air. Survivors of trauma are HUGELY more at risk for suicide than everyone else. All of us are. People who re-abuse people who have already been abused (I'm looking at you Senate Republicans), are worse than murderers -- worse than rapists. Please. Register. Vote. There are many many many more of us than them. If we vote we win.

So this Circus is now over and Brett is now appointed. I'm sure Gaga and ColdBeer are upset. The right side and media just use her and now dumped this poor woman like a hot potato. As for the news it will shift back to the Stormy Daniels and her corrupt lawyer.
As for poor used Mrs. Ford....Why she is not coming out telling people her side or why the media is asking he her reaction? Very odd that nobody is reporting how she is doing. Maybe she is waiting to take a civil case? Is NBC/CBS or a network going to make a mini series out of this?
I think this last showing of Democratic solidarity to block this man has pushed the many who were undecided to vote Republican in Nov.
