INGREDIENTS:
4-5 Potatoes
Olive oil
Season with salt and black pepper
1/2 tsp Sweet pepper
450 g /1 lb Ground beef
1 Onion
Season with salt and black pepper
1/2 tsp Sweet peppers
1/2 tsp Oregano
9 oz crushed tomatoes
Mozzarella (optional)
✅ Fennel Apple Salad With Walnuts:
INGREDIENTS:
3 tbsp lemon juice, plus more to taste
1/2 tsp sea salt, black pepper
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 large fennel bulb, thinly sliced on a mandolin
1 Granny Smith apple/ 1 green apple
3 celery stalks
add fennel fronds or roughly chopped parsley leaves
1/2 cup toasted walnuts
Top with parmesan

I love the sound of your children playing in the background. I miss that now that they are grown & gone. But I get a little of it every now & then with the great-grandkids. That looks so good & it does remind me of chili fries! The kiddos didn't know Gigi (me) knew how or what it was. LOL LOL! I said well how do you think your mom's & dad knew how to make them. All of them wanted to ask them why they had never it before at home. The answer was it is a mess to clean up & I got that look from all my kids you just had to mom didn't you. I just shrugged my shoulder & smiled at them. I told them if I could do it with them when they were little, they could do it with their kids while they were little. Don't not do something with your kids just because it's messy you'll miss half the fun of having kids. I took mine all over the US camping & site seeing, we had so much fun & we did it on a shoe string budget. We planned & bought what we were going to cook or eat & stocked up ahead of time. Found out how much each attraction was going to cost us & put that money in an envelope. Put aside every pay day for gas. Had to know how many miles we were going to be driving & averaged the gallon of gas on the high side, just in case. Every year right after school started we would pick out what we wanted to see the next summer! It was so much fun & kids were most of the planners for them. We had a pop-up camper & would always help set up camp & break it down we we were moving on to the next campground. As they older they pretty much took over that part. Then they were in high school & involved in all kinds of activities. But I have those memories & so do they.

It actually is a good show. It gives you a warm feeling and the background music adds a certain seductive quality. And you are so awesome. But this is a big production with all the filming and all the preparation and it seems nothing is left to chance - the sound is just right and no detail is too small - the candle light in the background etcara. So my point is that we are given the impression that this is Sophie cooking at home and it's very personal. But there are millions of viewers - this is a big production, Sophie is way too busy to have any idea who we are, but the impression is meant to be personal - I like the idea, but I don't think so.

My husband and I have watched versions of this recipe on German, French and even Turkish UA-cam channels, and he is so enthusiastic about this dish that I will be preparing it for supper tonight! I like your method of partially baking the potato slices in the oven (while cooking the beef mince/ground beef on top of the stove), which seems more hands-off/easier than frying them on top of the stove. What size pan do you bake this dish in? I have a 33cm long x 23cm wide x 5cm deep casserole pan I was thinking of using for this dish; would that be about the right size?

For anybody that hasn’t got a mandolin to thinly slice the vegetables, take a Y shaped pealer and rub the vegetables against the blade swiftly. This will give you thin slices without any danger of cutting oneself on an ordinary knife or other sharp blade.
