4:10 SOLD! I bought this because I need SOME sort of preamp into my interface and this was cheap. I sought reviews after the fact. Holy smokes! The compression and how it handles the gain in "pre" mode is sublime considering is cost almost NOTHING.
I got one of these to use for recording, and it sounds great running straight from the 1/4" unbalanced output to my USB interface. Good fat, solid tone.
Thank you for your comprehensive review...appreciated you explaining it's best use and demystifying the options available...very helpful to a beginning bassist...thank you.
Thank you so much for this great review! I am thinking about buying either this B factory or A factory (for acoustic guitar) for my acoustic bass guitar with a passive piezo transducer. I mainly look for a preamp pedal for high impedance passive piezo. Which one do you think would be a better choice for me?
I haven’t tried the Fuhrmann, looks pretty nice actually, so I can not compare. The compressor is a nice feature on the Sonicake, but keep in mind the BFactory is a preamp. This means that though good, it can not compete with a dedicated compressor pedal when it comes to settings.
Hi! Did not try the Valeton, although I do own 4 of their pedals. So this allows me to say that even if perhaps the built quality is average, their sound is quite good! The B factory is a preamp only, whereas the Dapper is a multi effects stomp box. So if what you want is to control just your bass signal without effects or you already own some, go for the B Factory. Built like a brick and sounds great. If what you want is something more versatile, the Dapper, or other multi effects like the Sonicake Matribox, could do too.
Question Sir...is it necessary to set a pedal like this to 'Unity Gain" and can this be done on this pedal with the volume control ? If not, do you think this is a shortcoming of this pedal? Cheers...
Hello! No it’s not “necessary” to set this pedal at unity gain. It will depend on the usage and the signal level needed either in studio, on stage or in an amp/PA. Yes, it can be done with the volume control. And no, please don’t call me sir. 😂❤️ Also check out the video from my friend Theo and his pedals for another take on this preamp: ua-cam.com/video/V4xqdYQe7Pc/v-deo.htmlsi=fnQGEIP-t9QI0baL
The Wetter Bass sorry to be so naive, but what is this mysterious cab sim you speak of? Just bought one and would like to know…just between me you promise 😁
😂 not a mystery. Just my way of renaming something that makes the pedal sound like a simulation of a (very) warm Ampeg amp with (a lot) of mid scoop. The more you turn the blend up, the more of you hear that “Amp Sim”.
@@thewetterbass haha…I thought it was secret squirrel business! Looking forward to hearing that warm Ampeg sound then. Cheers and the best review I’ve seen on the product 👍🏼
No, and if there would be, it would most probably come from the power supply or electricity contamination (like bad grounding form electrical installation or sharing current with an electrical engine…). The device itself is well grounded and doesn’t make any noise.
Good video with good direction but a little hard to follow because you talk with your hands and move the unit around too much. You’ve got a new subscriber.
@thewetterbass I don't know. I switched to the ampeg video and immediately it sounded good. This just seemed like endless fiddling for subpar sound. It just always sounded cheap
@@thewetterbass I understand that I use cheap pedals exclusively with garbage gear even. But I haven't heard a compressor pedal that amazed me and a pi fuzz is a pi fuzz. That pedal has some good tones but still sounds bad. Would not consider.

Best Intro ever🏜️👯♀️🤩🥰🎉🤘Love it!
My god I love that introduction. Also looks like Sonicake are reaching their arms wide: guess what my next video is on😂
😂 Really??? Well, can’t wait to get your take on this one then.
@@thewetterbassI think similar but different. Overall, I think it’s a phenomenal bit of kit for the price.
Their cool darkglass clone I hope!

Cool! Was thinking about comparing it to a tubes preamp I own. I think it would do quite well.
Could you make a review of the JOYO Tidal Wave please?
Tried to get in contact with them already but had no answer back. Will try again!

The intro & the video made me buy the unit and sub to your channel🍻
🤘🏻 cool! Thanks.
Ah this pedal makes more sense now. At first I was disappointed in the drive mode cos i was expecting it to boost the sound abit
Wrong labeling leads to wrong expectations, I guess. I too was a bit confused at first. Glad it makes more sense now.
@thewetterbass sonicake are really doing well though aren't they. Would love to see their take on a klon or bluesdriver
@robdelabassist yes, it’s refreshing to see that they do want to offer their personal take on more common effects.
@thewetterbass gotta admit, I do like the pedals they do in big boxes, looks very nostalgic
@@robdelabassistthey have a blues driver type. I was considering this as an OD but will pass now. Thanks!
You can't hide the rawness of the intro! Sounds pretty fine that's half my pedalboard and a DI in one box.
Just found your channel. Im looking at some of these options, like this or the joyo sparrow. Love the intro 😂
I have it. Sound great. Beefy and thick with the overdrive engaged.
Exactly!
I like the soft touch switches too...feel more expensive...works great with my Acoustic Bass and even with my Strat on some settings...many uses!

Get the B Factory...it makes my Acoustic Bass come alive...recommended...cheers
@cm-kl2wx good to know!
Starting the video with a little tribute to Ennio Morricone? Didn't even need the review afterwards, the video was already perfect LOL.
Yes! 😂
Great stuff
Haha, love that Intro 😁
HOHA! 🤠
O compressor é bom?
Substitui um Bass Compressor Fuhrmann?

For a few Pedals More
4:27- I thought you’d never touch the gain control.
😅 yeah sorry about that! It’s more a set and forget control imho.
4:13 = Sold ☕️

Phantom Power?
Nop 😉
I feel a strange inexplicable urge to do a Russian kick dance
😂😂😂
Is there any line noise? I have an older pedal by the same company and I get this annoying hiss.

@@thewetterbass Thank you! It looks really great. I’m conflicted between my inner-cheapskate & my desire for good gear. 🤣
@@mikedproducer I hear you. If you have the cash for more expensive gear, go for it. But if you got a limited budget, this preamp is a solid option.
@@thewetterbassThank you for your guidance!
@@thewetterbass Have you ever used the Electro-Harmonix Battalion? That caught my eye and is within budget.

So true… 😅🙌
Change to amp sim and actually run a few different models. Something about the tone bothered me with this.
What was it?
@thewetterbass I don't know. I switched to the ampeg video and immediately it sounded good. This just seemed like endless fiddling for subpar sound. It just always sounded cheap
Oh, right. That’s comparing to the Ampeg. Well yes, but one is many times the price of the other. So all I all I think it’s pretty good enough value.
