Was there any concerns for predators? the tractors seem a bit vulnerable. I have 18 Cornish cross brooding right now and want to build a good tractor before they go outside.
That's always a concern! But the only way I could see them being an issue would be if they could get under the tractor and to do that they would have to dig under hard ground to get through. I don't think we will have a huge issue with is this year but we will see!
This is an awesome video! Just so I can try and sell my better half on this doing 40 chickens, including the price of your food and water, chicken tractors, and your chickens and brooder (not accounting for your time) How much do you think they cost you and Wayback when We had someone that would process chickens on the halves, which meant they kept half the meat for the processing do you know of anyone who does that at this point?
A chicken costs us $9 to buy and feed not including the chicken tractor, brooder, etc.. If I included that for the 40 chickens we did and we only did it one time it would be more expensive than it would cost us to buy them. The tractors were $200 for both and the feeders / waterers / etc... were probably another $50. Where do you guys live? I wouldn't give up half the meat for someone to process them for me either. I would find a friend like we did and have him help us!
Good info Bill. Where is the next video on the barn?
We are working on finishing it up
Really enjoyed your video. Lot's of helpful information. See you on the farm during harvest time for garden items.
Can't wait! Thanks for your feedback on the video, we are doing a series weekly on our new batch of chickens too!
