    I have been using my MP10 for almost 2 years. It is quiet and continues to be the best pump i have ever purchased. Also the battery backup for the Vortech is a little pricey but it has saved my butt idk how many times. When the batter goes bad (like all batteries do) a 5 min youtube video and a trip to interstate batteries and you are back up and running.

      Couldn't agree more. The MP40 is about $150 over priced. Plus the fact that there legal department is more concerned about there patent... because, let's face it, turning a magnet shouldn't cost upwards of 400 dollars, and hydor knows it. But I digress... 1 year warranty is a joke. DO NOT BUY!!!

    Any follow up on a Reef2Reef post that stated that doing vinegar baths (which often is done in lieu of citric acid) for cleaning might prematurely cause Vortech magnets to fail. Supposedly idea is based on any old Randy Holmes-Farley quote that stated that the acetic acid (vinegar) contains neutral molecules which may pass through plastic, and since the magnets can rust, which is why they epoxy/plastic coating (I know, I had gen 1, where there was a clear coating of some sort, and those definitely did not work). So since this is one of your best selling pumps, maybe do a little experimenting and perhaps put warnings up to not clean in vinegar?

You can also clean the shells of clean up crew members with a toothbrush if there is any algae that you'd like to remove.

    I find it funny that so many people are willing to spend in excess of 840 for a single xr30 pro light, but when it comes to flow, they freak out over the cost of ecotech mp40's at less than half that price. Let's be honest, this is not a cheap hobby to get into. But some of the most important parts of the hobby is light and flow. So why would you cheap out on either of them? The other thing is, don't want to pay full price, then scour the ads and look for used equipment. Everyday i see people getting out of the hobby and selling off their equipment. You can pick up a lot of high end equipment for a lot less. There is a way to do anything that you want to do in this hobby, you just have to be willing to put effort into finding what you want at a price point you can afford. And for the record, I love my 2 mp40's. They are ultra quiet and i have two battery backups (1 for each of them), and i love them.

      Each one has very unique flow patterns compared to the other. The gyre is great if you need a sheet of water type flow pattern. If you have a tall aquascape or corals that have grown near the water surface, this is a solid choice. If you need to concentrate flow in a more specific area of the tank, the Vortech pumps are a good choice for that. Of course, the Vortech pumps also have the advantage of having the cords on the outside of the tank, which is aesthetically pleasing.

      BaileyQ i have no doubt they are good pumps. To me though the price point is that high because people are willing to spend that. This hobby is wild man. Its like the more something cost the better it sales because the majority of people think that because it’s ridiculously overpriced it has to be amazing.
      Lol and the reasons it got the best tag is because of personal opinion. No cords, easy to clean, and battery backup.
      I want a long lasting pump that is going to give me amazing flow. The ice cap gyre and jabeo pumps accomplish that i havnt spent what one mp40 costs

      I used jebao pumps before and bought some used mp40s for @$150.
      MP40s are much much better. Not even close.

      What i wish they would do is a brstv investigates on light photography diffusion paper and which one will work best for a LED defuser.

    Never would buy them. No directional control, so you would end up buying more to get the directional flow you require.

      @BRStv  4 роки тому +1

      That's a fair concern. If you need better directional control, take a look at the Tunze line of powerheads. How they mount to their bracket gives you a ton of different directional options.

    For $329 am i the only one who thinks that’s just ridiculous?

      Definitely not for everyone. If you're looking for a more budget friendly option, Tunze makes some awesome powerheads :)

    Way overpriced just like a lot of things we human recreated. Lots of people including myself are able to afford them but just can’t justify myself paying that much for them while there are plenty of options that costs way less.

    This channel is completely out of touch with the average person. And for what? To have an unnatural, freakishly colored, freakishly whipping in the current corals? I find fish much, much more interesting than corals. To see corals whipping around in the current makes me almost feel sorry for them. But regardless - the average hobbyist does not have the ability or desire to keep throwing money by the hundreds at this crap. And an Apex controller to monitor wave pump current? That's madness. And I'm a retired biomedical engineer. Just because you can do something doesnt mean that you should. Go back to basics, people - you'll enjoy your hobby a lot more

      Corals like flow like fish like water you might as well say you feel sorry for keeping the fish in a tank instead of the wild???!!!
