Hey Denny, got a question for you. There's a video going around of Joey Logano doing burnout in pit lane which everyone wants him to get penalized for since there are women and children standing around, and it was awfully close to them. My question is, Why are there even women and children allowed on pit row on an OBVIOUSLY hot pit row with 38 cars all rolling down pit lane? Why does Nascar allow this? Should everyone not be behind the concrete wall until every car is fully stopped? I feel like Nascar is playing with fire for allowing this to happen.

Even if nascar considers people being over the wall safe and legal, IMO it seems like a terrible idea for any mother to be carrying an infant on a still active race track.
During Dillons interview with Harvick today he expressed some anger/frustration with Joey for the car being so loud that close to his wife and child.
Meanwhile I’m thinking, dude why is your wife holding an infant on a race track 🤦

Had a post race discussion within our friend group and it became pretty heated with the normal "whiner" comments which every driver can be guilty of over the 30+ years I've followed NASCAR. Thank you for the way you diplomatically handled your post race interview and providing your thoughts via this in-depth podcast today, including admitting you, too, have been guilty of bumps and runs but explaing the difference, as well as quoting the rule book fans rarely have even a glimpse of. It’s crazy how many commenters have blinders on either for their driver or against other drivers. Especially when you get into high level sports, *very* few people are innocent, and the best are even less frequently innocent. My take on watching the end of the race many times at speed and in slow motion. Logan’o heading for the checkered flag slowed/ lost traction for Dillion to be able to reach and make contact with Logano’s rear bumper. Dillion continues to accelerate to the finish line. While Hamlin pulls from the bottom lane up in front of Dillion looking like a move to block or not paying attention to his mirror? Making Hamlin’s car in the path of the faster accelerating/ better traction Dillion’s car making for unavoidable contact. It is the last lap heading to the finish line. All three should be going full throttle. You don’t get hit in the rear if you have the faster car.

In my opinion, the whole overtime situation needs to be gotten rid of. I understand the fact that NASCAR wants the fans to see a GREEN finish, but more often than not, more cars are destroyed in the excess laps than during the regular scheduled distance. You look at the past before overtime existed, when the scheduled distance was reached, the winner was decided. NASCAR wants to preach about saving the teams money, this would save money by less Carnage. The desperation of the 3 was uncalled for, yes. Without the overtime rule, the 3 would still have gotten the win WITHOUT tarnishing the overall great race we had

I feel as though if they want to keep a “playoff format”, it should be 12 spots. They can do the “elimination rounds”, but leave a 4 race bracket for the final four cars. Of possible, make it one race of each discipline ie 1 short track, 1 1.5-2 mile, 1 restrictor plate, and unfortunately yes 1 road course. Best driver of those final four by final race’s end would be champion. This at least keeps their gimic of wanting to feel like sports with playoff systems.
This also would take care of the “win and you’re in” as most seasons we have at least 12 winners so you would have to run well too.

It doesn't matter how good he ran during the bulk of the race. The fact is that he wrecked the 22, knowing he would never have made that corner if he hadn't hit the 22 car. Name the last time an overtime restart didn’t end in a shit show win and your in isn’t nearly as big of an issue as overtime. NASCAR always talks about trying to save the teams money yet every time there’s overtime a bunch of cars get wrecked. Without overtime this never would have happened

Suspend him for a race ...... and no waiver for the missed race. Rule says drivers must compete in all 26 regular season races to be eligible for the playoffs.

How about talking about the two idiot's Stanhouse and Cendrick causing the last caution!!! Dillon would have won the race legitimately, but they didn't want Chevrolet to win.

Denny is totally correct here. Drivers who cheat are getting rewarded. Austin was 30 something in points going into Richmond and now he leapfrogged 30 some drivers for a place in the playoffs. So if most driver’s compete each race according to the rule book and certain drivers throw the rule book out the window isn’t any good for NASCAR. This specific incident we have radio communications from Austin Dillons radio specific evidence explicitly stating this was a deliberate and intentional act. The Win and you’re in feature of the playoff rules is partially to blame here. Because just like in this instance a 30+ ranked driver / team intentionally wrecks two other drivers to win a race to secure a spot in the playoffs. Therefore blatant cheating is rewarded in nascar. The driver’s should have the ability to vote on penalizing other drivers and send the outcome to Nascar. An then Nascar needs to take the outcome of the drivers vote when issuing any and all penalties. Austin Dillons isn’t a top tier competitor each week/ year when he’s only managed to achieve 5 wins in 10 years in the Cup Series. Incidents like this are undoubtedly going to cause serious injuries and have the potential to kill someone at some point. Check Denny’s immediate reaction was about his his shoulder being blown out from the impact into the wall. This is a blatant disregard for the drivers safety and whole rule book and any sort of code of conduct or sportsmanship.

How is this different from the hail melon that they outlawed?! No wall but he just gassed a drove thru cars no matter the outcome.
