I just used grenades, can chuck them from a bigger distance, and they're a lot cheaper to make, although I think I got all of mine from drops.

You know if you chuck eggs on the ground and look at them with your awesome spyglass before they hatch, it'll tell you if it's gonna be a male or a female. I try to put 3 males and 3 females of each in my fridge, but they may be all stacked together. That doesn't apply to the older eggs in there tho. Pretty much all the eggs that have the timers down, ready to hatch I didn't look at the sex, I only started leaving the full timers later on so you could check before they hatch.
