The GBU series is back! I am glad to share with you my Issey Miyake collection on a GBU style which was one of the most requested video and brands over the past few months... Thank you for all the inbox, emails and requested messages for this series. Let me know in the comments, which Issey Miyake fragrance(s) do you consider the best from the brand and also what other GBU's you'd like to see next?!? Have a great day!
Poxa, Max, faltou o primeiro que eu conheci, e que jamais saiu da coleção: o Intense. Mesmo assim, ótimo vídeo para que as pessoas deem valor a esta bela casa. Aqui no Brasil ela é super menosprezada.
Before I was into fragrances I smelled a really good fragrance on a person & asked them what it was. They said Issey Miyake. This was early 2000s and I still remember who I asked, where I was at, & who was there. My nose caught the Yuzu and I never smelled anything like it. 20 years later and I still look out for Issey Miyake fragrances.
That's because the sense of smell is the strongest sense tied to memory. I still have and wear L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme sometimes, classic fragrance, cheers.
Of all the expensive scents I have worn- nothing has come close to getting me the random compliments I get from Issey homme. Complete strangers have commented on it so many times it’s unreal- this is so unusual for me.
I just got Noir Ambre from Freagrancebuyca, I didn't expect this, it just blew my mind, right now it's my favorite fragrance of all time, it's a Masterpiece! Have to check the other dark fragrances. Thanks Max!!!
The L'eau d'issey pour homme, isn't exactly love at first smell for me, but it gradually starts to smell better after the dry down. It's also great for the summer, it's just super fresh.
My first perfume purchase was Issue Miyake Intense, when I had zero knowledge about perfume. This is the one that got me into fragrance game. Now own more than 50 perfumes. :)
Been wearing the Issey cologne since 94 and still love it. Issey also was very innovative Japanese designer that pushed the fashion industry during the Japanese designer boom in the early 80’s. Back when only the rich and famous could afford and dare to wear his clothes and was not for the average person. RIP Master designer Issey Miyake.
Nice! been waiting on this one, Max... thank you as always... only one that remains and has alluded me... Noir Ambre... have the alert and waiting to pull the trigger💥
The original L'eau D`Issey will always be a parr of my collection. Some may find it old or say that there are many other better sommer scents, but I absolutely love it.
The intense pour Homme is an excellent incense-y fresh kind of perfume. It has the Pour Homme yuzu citrus freshness, but more serious, a bit deeper, also lasts longer.
I've always enjoyed Issey Miyake fragrances but only recently got into building my collection. Been very interested in hearing more about this house. Thank you for this content and all that you do!
I know almost nothing about fragrances because I can be sensitive to them, but I came across the original pour homme and fell in love. Might be a bit behind the times, lol. Thank you for this video, I'm curious to check out some of these other scents now!
I'm surprised you didn't even mention well known ones like le bleue, pour homme intense, sport or eau fraiche. Btw to me, honorable mention for nuit parfum, i've seen almost no reviews about that one anywhere, worth trying for anyone who doesn't know it.
Great fragrance house overview 📹 and l enjoyed it and I like issey miyake original and wood and wood and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed day
You did it for IM at last! Sooo Marvelous! No ‘ugly’ and added ‘the favorite’ seems to show your appreciation to this brand, perhaps? Another big applause to your video, from a Noir-Argent-Lover in Tokyo..
I just got L’eau d’Issey on a whim since I saw so many fragrance UA-camrs talking about it and I have to say, I will be looking into Miyake-san’s fragrances. I was very impressed.
L'Eau d'Issey is good for the summer and that's about it. You really have to be into aquatics or freshies to appreciate it. After 40 years of collecting, I really just started appreciating them for summer a few years ago but I wasn't overwhelmed by it.
Nearly fell over when I got my In-Stock notification for Noir Ambre last week...After setting the alert over a year ago. My wallet still has whiplash. It's not every day you bag a unicorn
@@MaxForti all fine here and honestly it’s exactly this direction & content that you did with this video that is the very best in the entire community! So informative and genuine!
Thanks for putting out this video. Issey Miyake is a highly, highly underrated house! And I agree, we need more in North America! Noir Ambre sells out just like that as at the time of me checking your link... sold out! I would like to see you redo the John Varvatos GBU later once you have all the collaborations and the 2020 releases.
L'eau d'issey had been my favorite for 20+ years, I have to cycle it in and out of my collection so I don't go completely nose blind to it, but it wears well and doesn't permeate the entire office, but it does make it pleasant to walk behind me haha
Love this video 😍 I just got first year production original pour homme. It has an A in the batch number. Also bottle lettering is little different. Bingo 😄
Great review i've had some Issey Miyakes in my collection and I've been looking for another one to add to my line for the regular office day so definitely will be looking to get one
Just bought shades of kolam since i grabbed a sample and it really stood out as a great fragrance. Very classy well rounded and beautiful scent for 28 bucks. Unreal
Didn't watch the video yet but i knew you would make a miyake video some day. I recall seeing you more than one time appreciating the brand. I kinda wish it stayed kinda under the radar as it has always been cause you know, more miyake for us, but on the other hand here where i live (south america) it's hard to get any miyake other than the classic one since there are no importers anymore so i wish it gained some deserved recognition. Anyways thanks for the content.
Love your honesty and content. Bought the original way back and had it as my signature scent. Because of this , now a days I couldn’t go near the original. I now went over to the dark side. Or encens, Pulse of the night and noir ambra. Unbelievable and almost niche quality. Kind regards from Bonnie Scotland 🏴
Still one of my favourite designer brands. Lot of love for L'eau d'Issey Sport with that spicy nutmeg-vetiver twist on a freshie. Cavallier-Belletrud became my favourite perfumer partly because of his work for the brand. Always looking forward to their stuff, although it's becoming a little hit-and-miss lately.
Home run Max!!! I love this line! Just snagged Noir Ambre. Waiting for FedEx. Definitely agree that Noir Argent is highly under appreciated. This stuff is 🔥!! Can't say enough good things about Pulse, even the bottle looks good, therefore I won't give you crap about making it the most overrated 😉. Keep up the great work for us frag heads and God speed my man!!
Hey Firas, performance on Issey is pretty good - (the freshies are average of 6+) the darker scents are 8+ and some of the newer ones are even stronger like Or Encense, Noir Ambre and Noir Argent...
The issue with talking about performance, however, is that it is relative to the user. Yes, Max might get 6+ hours out of a certain fragrance, but your skin type and chemistry might be different to where you may get better performance...or worse performance. That's why sampling or getting decants are important, so that you can get a personal sense as to how something will work on you. The last thing you'd want is to be told "Nuit d'Issey is an 8-hour fragrance" but then you get it and it only lasts 5 hours for you.
I only have the very first fragrance from Issey Miyake and I absolutely love it. Now I really want to try out other Issey Miyake's fragrances, but I needed to be sure it would smell great.
Wait thats discontinued? I found it for 25 at marshalls today and its one of my most budget and easily my favorite scent sad i may not be able to get another when i run out
Hi Max, nice to meet you... I see you have a big collection of Issey Miyake, most of them I don't have, hahaha.... I always liked 1994 classic, but never bought it, until a couple of years ago. After that, I recently made a lot of blind buys. To be exact, last month and this week, hehehe I have seven fragrances from ISSEY MIYAKE, listed below: - classic L'Eau d'Issey, - L'Eau d'Issey Fraiche - Sport - Bleue edt - Summer 2016 - Intense - Nuit edt I intrigued with the NUIT line. I have Nuit edp in my watchlist, and now, as you reviewed the rest of them, and as you said some of them smells kind of like Parfums de Marley, I feel the curiosity and made some blind buys, lol.
I saw this review again, and I have to tell you this an excellent review of a fragrance and his flankers. A full content. The final section "Good, Bad, Ugly, Underrated, Overrated and Favorite" it was amazing. I would like similar review with Declaration Cartier.... Greettings
Thanks Max, I have 13 bottles myself. My Favourite is noir ambre which I have 2 bottles of followed by Encens and love them all, sooper dooper house.🇿🇦
Dude, your killing me! Have been trying to get Noir Ambre for some time. never available. Now I find a source but every time it is in stock, it sell out in minutes, even seconds. Now you and Ashton (Gent Scents) hyping it . It is on everybody's radar. I have to constantly check my emails for that notice it is available again. The original is a summer staple. The longest lasting summertime fragrance there is. I love it! The newest one I've tried is Pulse of the Night and it was fantastic By the way, the best summer flanker of all time is Aqua Fahrenheit. Criminally underrated.
I love Or Encens. I feel it's criminally under discussed (hate the phrase undervalued). Glad I managed to snag a bottle of Noir Ambre recently, can't wait for it to arrive.
I just recently dived into the house of IM, luckely a good friend of mine had couple of bottles of Noir Ambre and Or Encens and happily sold me 1 of each! Wow so beutiful scents.
I own and enjoy "L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme Intense" and "Nuit D'Issey P.O.T.N". "P.O.T.N." smells very similar to Nag Champa incense; I've found that it's best to spray it on clothing for best performance-it can last for a while on clothing, but I wouldn't spray it on the skin because it doesn't seem to perform well on the skin. I plan to buy more Issey Miyake fragrances; thanks, Max, for the help.
I love Issey fragrances. I hate their complete lack of customer service. I made my first inquiry back in 2019. They forwarded it to the location that handles North America. That is a black hole. I follow it up every couple months attempting to get a response and still nothing. Favorites are Noir Ambre, Or Encens, Nuit d' Issey Parfum.
Or Encens is my new favorite from Issey Miyake, amazing fragrance and different from the rest of the line, definitely "niche quality" as you stated. Another good fragrance from Issey Miyake was the one that came in the wooden bottle, supposed to be a woodier version of the original Issey Pour Homme (not sure if you've mentioned it). Great review!
Glad to see the GBU series making a comeback, Max! I have a good beginning experience with Issey (my father wore the classic L'Eau D'Issey and I've sampled Pulse of the Night, Bleue L'Eau d'Issey Fraiche, and I "think" Noir Ambre but I don't remember), but I need to look into the house more. Also I just tried a sample of Noir Argent last night and goodness gracious I love that fragrance...ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE! The leather in that reminded me of the leather in Montale's Fantastic Oud, to my nose, so they smell a bit similar, but FO is more dark. I'm definitely going to have to check a few more of these like Polaris, Wood & Wood, and Shades of Kolam. Awesome video, as always!
Max Hello friend, interesting review, I like the line of issey miyake but I want to complete my collection with more, I only have the intense and precisely those 4 that you selected for the last are the ones that I want in fact I have in my list a noir argent the original and polaris that For you I have it in this list the difficult ones to get pulse of the night and noir ambre I will see and I will continue looking to see if I get them at a good price a hug brother ✌😎🌞🌴🏄🌺👍.
Top 3 for me are Pulse of the night, the original and the Eau Fraiche. The Nior Ambre sample was amazing when I got It, I am not sure what is going on with it now so I will try again. Think I will pick up Polaris this year though.
Hey Max, have you tried L'eau D`Issey intense? Wondering why it's not in the collection? It's a really great fragrance and one of my favs from Issey Miyake.
How about the L’eau Majeure D’issey? Been using it the past 2 years and would love to hear a professional review on it. Also for which season is it good. Thanks!
Hi Max! How is the 2005 or 2009 summer flanker compare to Carolina Herrera 212 H2o Men? BTW have you smelled that Herrera? Is it worth to get any of the mentioned flankers? I also have 10 from Miyake. Nuit d'Issey Parfum is also an excellent one.

Nice Gibson!! Looks like a Les Paul standard.
Amazing video 🔥👍🏼
Great vid Max
Top 3 for me are Pulse of the night, the original and the Eau Fraiche. The Nior Ambre sample was amazing when I got It, I am not sure what is going on with it now so I will try again.
Think I will pick up Polaris this year though.
I own Nuit D’Issey ands it powerful. Smells masculine and good
Hey Max, have you tried L'eau D`Issey intense?
I'm not familiar with 212 H2O for men so I couldn't tell you... But some of the Miyake flankers are really good!
Hopefully you’ll get to try Sport and Bleu Astral
