- Meerkat paint job not included Today I tear into one of my bluetooth speakers, The Monster Rockin’ Rambler ! I have been using it for a few months now and really enjoy it, Even though this is an older product now the new-old stock is still available at an awesome price. In this video I give you a quick review and take it apart to show the components as well as add some acoustic foam to the cabinet for a smoother bass response

Meh that battery in there is decent. SLE (sealed lead acid) batteries are old reliable batteries. Sure you could probably put a larger battery in but that's already a decent battery. (typing this from my work, at a battery store with 4+ year experience)
Lol yeah I have been using it in the freezing Canadian winter sitting in the snow and have not had a battery issue ! I have many like it if I need to replace it sometime, I was worried about it being on the shelf for 4 years but works great

I looked up the specs and yes the Galaxy S5 Neo does support NFC but it appears on his phone it is disabled.
And that rotary encoder is very prone to getting yanked apart just from normal use of the volume control. It is not a robust part and is not built for use as a front-panel control, especially not one that is going to live the hard life of a portable speaker/amp like this. I just finished taking one of these apart and piecing the encoder back together so the volume would work correctly again. So word of caution, operate the volume knob GENTLY.

Hello. Thank you in advance for any help you give for my queries. I'm tired of looking for the same battery in india. There's no such size available. Now that my monster RR3 doesn't retain any juice even while plugged in. I don't need the battery in fact as I always used it in plugged mode. Can you help me how i could ever do that by removing the battery and just giving power directly?

Given it has a lead-acid, those things are similar to a car battery, although, while those handle discharge cycles a bit better, best not to leave that battery near dead for long periods of time.

Mine can't stay connected to BT overnight.. stops playing. Instruction Manual didn't even mention that the FM radio presets are EQ presets when not in FM Mode. QUESTION: What types of foam can be used for the demonstrated mod?
Dude great video. I bought this for $40 as is display model from Frys electronics. It only works when plugged in. I researched and found the battery is a regular problem but is solved by replacing it. Now i know how to replace it. Thanks so much
Ah cool! Yeah that battery is common and might I even suggest making a 12v car lighter plug for it or even have a connector on the side to be able to plug in a full size car battery or something fun :P I since got the much bigger version of this boombox but the one in this video is holding up strong after being lost in the Canadian winter under snow and totally submerged underwater for a week or so from someone leaving it face up outside, I banged it around work sites doing construction and it still sings

Step one to using nfc: make sure your phone has it and make sure it's on! Step two: take off any thick cases. These can block the nfc from working.
3. If it still doesn't work, awkwardly move the back over the nfc tag until you've covered the whole area of the back if your device.
Great post. I just bought one at Shoppers. Glad to see this mod. I'll do it as soon as warrenty is off. I'm also happy to see the EQ presets that you showed. I tried to find this in the lit that came with spkr. enjoying very much.

Just bought this for someone, It doesn't specify on the box, but could I load a thumb drive with mp3's and plug it in and have it play from the thumb drive? Could you test that out?

How would one go about modifying the usb port to play mp3 drives? Lol. I was hoping to be able to load a drive with their favorite music but I guess that's not going to work now unfortunately. May have to velcro a ipod mini or shuffle to the case and plug it in to aux and usb for power haha

Eww another Monster product! They make terrible cables. Decent speaker though.
12V 2.3 amp-hours means you could draw (at least) 12 volts from this at 2.3 amps for an hour before it drops below 12 volts... or if you draw 1 amp instead, you could draw that 1 amp for 2.3 hours before the voltage drops below 12V... does this make sense? Amp-hours are a unit of load over time.

hey, it is a DC input jack at the rear, comes with a small 12 volt power adapter plug but one can be found easy to replace if lost they are a common adaptor

To use the near field or nfc swipe down on a android phone into the settings tab then swipe across then tap on nfc make sure you speaker is on once you hear a sound it means it connected

Not bad at all. Sounds good (listened with headphones) and it's not even clipping at max volume isn't it?
it can clip but I never needed it that loud, that test was it cranked right up to check for noises and see how solid it was, I should have done a test at a normal volume I do find the highs get harsh when using it at its peak, much more balanced when not pushing it

lead acid battery?? that one is only 28Wh so you could run that thing only a couple hours at full blast... if you wanna modify it you could change it for a lithium-ion battery, some circuitry would be needed though
ive used it for nearly a full 8hrs before blasting in a snow bank freezing the amp must take f all

That woofer is very interesting. Very big magnet and voice coil for a 15 watt power rating. Very rare to see something conservatively rated. Another company might rate that speaker 50 watts and, ehh, maybe? it might handle that.
One of these days I should upload a video of my modified Welton PS94SH towers playing 5th gear. I added insulation and new crossovers, and those speakers have *bass!*
