Just a note, Standable is not FBT. It doesn't track anything related to the legs. It estimates the position of the legs based on headset and controller movement. It's great at what it does, fantastic compared to implementations in other games, but calling it full body tracking isn't accurate to what it actually is. The best comparison is the leg estimation in games such as VR chat where no trackers are being worn. Great video otherwise though, and I'm very happy to see Standable getting some traction, the developer, I3Llamas is doing some fantastic work.
I just thought that would be the easiest way to put it to make it understandable. It's like it's estimated full body. So not necessarily tracking but more like full body estimation. Hope i didn't make a mess of it 🙂
@@TheMysticle It was easier to understand, but a bit misleading since you didn't show the "not a tracker" sections of the video demo (Lifting leg irl and it not happening in vr because the system doesn't have that information)
Since the Quest Pro controllers are compatible with Quest 2 and they have seperate cameras for tracking, that means that meta could release some accessory that attaches to the legs and uses the same cameras for leg tracking. Edit: Guess I worded this weird, I meant the accessory would have its own cameras, but they would be the same type of cameras as the pro controllers.
That might be difficult because i don't think the controllers have enough processing power to track both themselves and legs or wirelessly transmit low-latency feed for 3 cameras.
You would still have a lot of occlusion issues. Example, waving pose with hands above shoulder, sitting down with legs below knees. I think Meta's best bet is still outside cameras or cameras on trackers. If they don't, they'll NEVER have full body tracking comparable to laser tracking.
I can tell you that the Pico neo 4 is the best stand alone headset. Everything looks so good and it feels so light on your head. The tracking is AWESOME! It might sound a bit dramatic to say this but you will never touch the quest 2 every again. Its that good. The controllers feel nice and iv yet to get any drift. Unlike the quest 2 where I got a controller with drift right out of the box. The part that touches your face feels nice and cool and I find I do not get the marks on my face like I did with the Q2. Everything about it is fantastic

I still love my Quest 2 and dont think it is worth upgrading to the Pico. Definitely when knowing that the Quest 3 isnt that far away and is probably going to have a CPU that is twice as good as the Pico 4.
The Pico's software and software compatibility is far inferior as well. Quest 2 is the one i do get if i had to pick now, then sell it once the 3 comes and buy that.

Pretty sure Index still on top. Waiting for some Index 2 or anything like that where they add a feature to have it wireless without losing quality, add higher FOV, better lenses and some sort of maybe full body tracking, since they already have base stations for flawless tracking of arms. Pretty sure they can go up with full body
Dude, the Index hasn't been on top in like forever. Best sound and the lighthouse tracking is good, but the image quality is awful and there's quite a few other downsides. It would be a good buy if you can get the full package for like $500-$600 (controllers, 2 base stations, headset), but for $1000 it's just way too overpriced compared to what you can get for that money.
@@NicolasSilvaVasault The fact that index is not on top 5 does not make it bad. It just cost more than lets say oculus quest 2 which is far behind index, but more affordable sacrificing many stuff like mic quality, headphones coming up with it's own not too accurate tracking that you can not always relay on and also you'll need to have your lights on all the time. While I can even play at night without lighting up my whole room. Plus I do not need to login into Facebook and create an account for that. I think standalone leg tracking can be improved by using the new Quest Pro Touch controllers' cameras. I'm sure that's possible through software modding like what' s currently going on. Any programmers able to verify this possibility? I only know how to code basic things.
won't the camera's on the controllers be all over the place though? like you tend to swing them around so most of the time they won't even be looking at your legs.

Has anyone else experienced serious stutter of the Passthrough environment when using 2D apps since the v44 and v46 updates? I have two headsets here which are having the same issue even after repeated factory resets.
The leg tracking maybe works as they might use the extra cameras from both the controller's as to capture the locations of both legs. I might be wrong.
Allowing browser use for other apps is really going to help with modeling and game development, no more looking down at my iPad at an image then going back on vr to add a single detail then repeat, this is going to be super helpful!
You don't really look much at your own legs but other people's, that's why it's so stupid that they omitted them, doesn't matter if it doesn't match your own posture!😤
I was watching the Meta Connect when it was on air. As good as some stuff was to look at, it also was partially pretty ridiculous. They spoke in a way their product was such a mindblowing breakthrough. Stuff what already was in a way better state released by others. Then the meta full body and new avatar presentation... the same. And what I noticed too was a pretty low framerate of the avatars. I mean the animation of them. It looked a little like they ran on a kind of 25 FPS or so. The grand finale for me was the thing where you simply can scan your real body with your mobile phone and make a super realistic avatar of yourself. What sick technology can do such a thing in such a good and fast way? In terms of quality I only know the Unreal Engine 5 what can do such stuff. I could say a little more. But I don't want to blast the comments. It's just my opinion. You people can share another one. No problem.
I think there is two good option for full body tracking for the future 1- forget the controllers and only use hand tracking and the controllers will now go to your foots 2- use hand trancking and attach one controller to the hip so the softwatre will be able to know where are your hips
Can't wait to get my Pico 4, getting it forwarded to Texas by a buddy of mine in Europe. 😊 I hope not to get stuck with that delay in Europe. 😢 I did buy it the moment sales were made available (crossing my fingers).
Honestly, id like them to have both estimation and the FBT trackers, because one could be for the poor people, and one for the people that love vr enough to spend money on it, and meta could definitely make good profit from doing that. Options could help them, and either way both work.
I bought the Pico 4, but I had to return it because there was too much light leakage on the side and it dug into my nose. I'd consider buying it again if they release a fit-kit.
Honestly I don't believe the Pico 4 is a big enough update to warrant a purchase if you have a quest 2/Pico 3. It's definitely the one to go with (for now) if you don't have a stand alone VR or a great option if you don't have any VR. The XR2 chip is the same the refresh rate doesn't support 120hz(not a big deal, also think it's because of the lens type). So stand alone games will run the same as quest 2 just with a slightly better resolution(hopefully with the same fps). But PC vr will look better if you have a decent gpu. The pass through is no different then using your phone camera(Oculus gear/cheap VR has this feature) so AR on it would be no different then a phone. It has no 3.5 audio jack so charge and play with headphones isn't an option. Not a deal breaker though. So personally I would wait to see what the Pico 4 pro has to offer or the quest 3 before jumping the gun on an upgrade.
I don’t understand why meta doesn’t do something similar to how the Wii remotes worked. They could easily have a puck that contained three or four different sensors that got recalibrated every time it had a line of sight to the cameras. The camera should see it often enough to mitigate drift.
My Pico 4 will come at Friday. But sadly Saturday I give a VR Music Workshop for the Deutsche Telekom. So good Work, good Money, but I cannot make a Pico Weekend.
LOL sorry, can't resist some Apple jokes. :-P Apple's headset does not have a headphone jack. The charger is sold separately. (And no, it's not USB-C.) Only compatible with iPhone (required for setup). There is no sideloading, but app dev tools (available on on Mac) cost only $100/yr.
There was no "sort of" lied to, we WERE lied to. There was no clear specific that said "This is not the final model" or "Made with CGI to show what could be done" no clear disclaimer like that. They really should just make trackers and release them already. I'd rather prefer they made trackers that were based off the Quest 2 cameras/Quest Pro controllers. It doesn't seem like it'd be difficult to do, they just choose not to do that.
When I turn on my Quest 2, my controllers are outside of my guardian boundary and the quest will only do hand tracking. I think I changed something in my settings as well, either on the Quest or through Sidequest? And then as soon as I pick up the controllers and bring them within the boundary they activate.
I wish hand tracking could detect my almost full arm, missing at the palm/fingers. 'Lock' digital controller spaces to that area. I can hold and play VR just fine with a controller, but tracking can't even detect.
Meta lying about leg tracking is 🤮 That being said... I can't find another headset that fits someone with 55 IPD. It seems the Quest Pro is the only one 😞 I don't want to support Meta as a company, but it seems I have no choice if I want a VR headset.
So when do we get to use the OCULUS QUEST 2 in bed, like when I'm sick, or I spent 14 hours at work, and all I wanna do is lay down and play a game. I only know of one app that does this, and it sounds like they had to build it themselves.
I want to be able to dance in an MMO like Ilysia. Honestly, I want better graphics than Ilysia. But it seems VR games can't handle being better graphics than Ilysia for now.
I've just ordered a Pico 4 headset today sadly I won't get it until the end of November. And as for the leg tracking on the Apple VR headset I'm pretty sure it won't work very well for either fat people or women with bigger breasts.
read some chinese reviewer on pico 4, the tracking and software is not on par to Quest 2 AT ALL. and there are more heat coming from headset hardware. I dont trust PICO a chinese company will provide a better support / software than meta.

No problem.
I think there is two good option for full body tracking for the future
1- forget the controllers and only use hand tracking and the controllers will now go to your foots
2- use hand trancking and attach one controller to the hip so the softwatre will be able to know where are your hips
I watch all your videos in vr 😐😐😐
I thought the legs scene was obvious that it was cgi
Can't wait to get my Pico 4, getting it forwarded to Texas by a buddy of mine in Europe. 😊 I hope not to get stuck with that delay in Europe. 😢 I did buy it the moment sales were made available (crossing my fingers).
Honestly, id like them to have both estimation and the FBT trackers, because one could be for the poor people, and one for the people that love vr enough to spend money on it, and meta could definitely make good profit from doing that. Options could help them, and either way both work.
5:50 both, one would be free but the other would be better
Apple's headset does not have a headphone jack.
The charger is sold separately. (And no, it's not USB-C.)
Only compatible with iPhone (required for setup).
There is no sideloading, but app dev tools (available on on Mac) cost only $100/yr.
Isn't the Pico 4's tethered PCVR experience garbage, though? It doesn't gave DP.
We need valve to save us all, from Meta, in a "standalone future"... Help Somebody X86 chip set now!!🥳🥳
If apple can release their headset, although unlikely, for £600 or less then im gonna have a huge dilemma between it and the PSVR2
I wish hand tracking could detect my almost full arm, missing at the palm/fingers. 'Lock' digital controller spaces to that area. I can hold and play VR just fine with a controller, but tracking can't even detect.
Meta lying about leg tracking is 🤮
That being said... I can't find another headset that fits someone with 55 IPD. It seems the Quest Pro is the only one 😞
I don't want to support Meta as a company, but it seems I have no choice if I want a VR headset.
Not first
read some chinese reviewer on pico 4, the tracking and software is not on par to Quest 2 AT ALL. and there are more heat coming from headset hardware. I dont trust PICO a chinese company will provide a better support / software than meta.
