I get really irritated when nobody mentions the War on Drugs. The creation of black markets from this idiotic and unconstitutional policy are hugely responsible for the increase of crime and misuse of firearms.
I'm more irritated by shippers not following their own policy for shipment of ammo. When I can find reasonably priced rounds online I prefer to order as ammo here (Hawaii) can get ridiculous. I've got about a 30% success rate w/UPS, who likes to deny the shipment even though their site clearly outlines their ability to provide ammo shipment to Hawaoii. Can't get someone on the phone w/FedEx to confirm their policies and USPS won't touch it, but at least they're consistent.
Bill I have a pair of Red pad M77's With your barrels on them from before Ruger made their own. I've eliminated allot of farm pests vermin and punched a bunch of holes in paper at what some would consider beyond caliber ranges. Have hand loaded for them as well as test fired the latest factory hotrod's. I can't find projectiles I've seen primers for up to 200 dollars a thousand and powder for up wards of 60.00 a pound. When you said UNPRECEDENTED That's an understatement I'm an old man I may have enough components to last the rest of my time . If I was still shootin steel I could no longer afford my hobby.
My local gun shops have plenty of ammo (mainstream calibers anyways) stacked and overflowing their shelves and the prices aren't moving at all. I don't think the prices are going to come back down as much as we hope it will.
The increased cost of ammunition can in part be attributed to increased material and labor cost, but with an average cost increase of only 15% over pre pandemic levels the prices are only partially explained . So the 200% increase in ammunition prices is simple greed as ammunition companies have been reporting record high profit margins since the (shortage) began.
They are making record amounts of ammunition so they should be making record profits, if I worked more then ever before I’d expect to make more then before as well.

Here's the thing. The bravest cop, firefighter, soldier or anyone who wears a uniform can turn into a quivering bowl of jelly if you threaten their job AND pension, something he or she may have put years into. When their political masters say "Do this! Or else!" they all know what the "Or else!" means. Maybe they agree with the order, maybe they don't, but there's an old saying: "Money is a coward, and it can make a coward of anyone." It takes someone with a VERY stiff backbone to say "No, I WON'T!"
I hear ya man. I enjoy watching these gentlemen, but I disagree with their politics. Mr. Wilson doesn't mention that more people of color are buying weapons at unprecedented rated because of white nationalism. And the whole notion that "no one wants to go to work" is so ridiculous. No one wants to die. After almost 1,000,000 dead I'd be a little more sympathetic. Anything to please the market right. Fox news BS. This problem of demand isnt just tied to politics. COVID has been the primary driver behind all supply issues The firearms industry is not the only industry to be going through this. Meh, just my 2 cents.
9mm is over $30 for a box of 50 in southern calif if you can find it. I refuse to pay this rip off price. These ammo prices if they stay double or triple the pre pandemic costs is going to ruin the shooting sports.
Guns remain much more stable than ammo simply because they're durable goods. I have so many guns that I have some I've had for years and have only had out shooting once or twice, if at all. I've got shit (rifles) I haven't even really sighted in yet. I'm good on guns and don't see myself buying many (or any) more. I simply don't need them. Stocking up on ammo and parts is the name of the game for me, now.
Market soft as hell now everything available on Gunbroker my dealer has everything and is not busy at all wilson combat edc x9 and rifles are available at a discount on Gunbroker
Diehards take expensive training courses and expensive, top of the line guns. I agree, some of the new gun owners will continue to go deeper, most will not.
I won't consider the emo shortage truly over until I can walk in to the gun shop and buy any amount out of an assortment of power and bullets and cases and everything else in them not be ridiculously priced I mean I don't expect them to be pretty pandemic cheap even though cuz I know those prices are just gone... When I was a kid my grandpa always told me ammunition and guns are an investment because like gold there's always a market for them and they only go up in value because all of my of mine I bought for way cheaper than what they're selling for
So it'll be probably that long and then some for reloading supplies to be readily available like they used to be when in relation to how long it's going to take the ammo market to return to normal because everybody knows if you reload your last on the list when it comes to normalcy returning, which is why reloaders stock up when supplies are plentiful, unfortunately my stupid ass didn't start reloading until just the beginning of the pandemic but unfortunate thing out of all that is I've learned how to make my own primers and powder just not extrude cases because that is a bitch and something that I don't have the equipment to do
I like your information concerning the shooting industry, but I have never understood why people who ostensibly are better able to protect their neighbors, families, friends, etcetera are so often in favor of coopting the job to the enforcement arm of the very regime which seeks to undermine the natural right of self defense.

IMO: L.A. has gone downhill since Daryl Gates was forced out...

Hello Bill & Ken. Thank you. At the age of 63, I purchased my first firearm last July, an 9MM P320 M17. I updated the grip modular with a WC in October. Turns out I like the sport and I like to shoot. Just purchased my fourth 1000 round box of ammo. Just took my 4th training class. Will take some more. Next for me is a higher precision, concealable handgun. Perhaps a WC. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Skip the micro-9s and go for a decent compact carry. I recommend a CZ (P-01 is great).

Gentlemen as always you tell it like it is, yes we have a big problem in our country and I believe this will get worse, I understand the dilemma at Wilson Combat you built me a Hackathorn Special in .45 ACP I love it so much I had to buy the Commander version in 9mm I ordered it last June and I don't mind waiting for your product Mr. Wilson it is very much worth waiting for, just keep doing what your doing Sir keep your products and your customer service the way they are # 1 and you will fair out this storm, one thing you need to put those classes back on the calendar Sir and pass on your shooting knowledge. Take Care and stay Safe.
I ordered a Hackathorn commander .38 super in April last yr. It has recently kitted. So maybe that can give you some idea on your build timeline.
@@andrewbates6840 It really doesn't bother me too much I know when I receive that Commander it will be worth it I figure another 6 months.
My grandfather passed away and I remember him saying that they are going to get away with this by chipping away at it and lack of morals, accountability, and much more. 1982 was the year he said that after a Regan speech.
the most immoral times in america were likely in your grandfather's younger years. He just didn't recognize the gross immorality all around him. Or maybe he did.
@@calvinrobinson1023 I will say he noticed it we were far enough away from the big mess that he only would get into it when he was in town and someone was disrespectful, otherwise we stayed to ourselves and our friends and watched everyone do their stupid stuff. He was immune to it, he could roll in it and never got a itch.

Recently bought the P365 grip module. Looks great, feels great and great service.
The increase is probably because of million new shooters. The ammo companies definitely need to greatly expand their production lines.
Enjoyed that 👍🏻🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
I can find 9mm for $15/50 rounds all day long. .38 special is $23/50 rounds, and I have plenty. Decent hollow point rounds are much harder to find, and 3X higher than early 2020.
What part of the country? Even in midwest where there actually is some supply on shelves, even the crappiest ball is $18 per 50.
@@markinwa5884 I agree. Picked up two boxes of 115 grain Fiocchi for $18 each and I shop around a lot. I haven't seen brass ased 9mm under this price in a couple years.

Very good video. Wish the subject of primers had been discussed. The primer shortage has stopped reloaders in their tracks.
And likewise it's certainly NOT cost effective for a new gun owner/hobbyist to get into reloading at all simply the fact that all the components are not readily available it's just NOT worth it !!!
Thanks
Thanks for you great view of the situation .

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Matthew 5:9
As a commercial carrier I can tell you that freight has gone up very little at the carrier level
It has gone up substantially at the BROKER level, as brokers are now keeping record amounts of profit
Then don’t take the run, it’s either a price your willing to work for or not what the broker gets is not relevant.
Remember everybody #FJB had to put an end to the importation of steel cased ammo from Russia. That too helped to keep ammo prices on the lower end.
I get really irritated when nobody mentions the War on Drugs. The creation of black markets from this idiotic and unconstitutional policy are hugely responsible for the increase of crime and misuse of firearms.
Good discussion. And it's fitting that the video is 19:11 in length.
Great video! Thanks guys.
Thanks for watching!

Ammo- Academy Sports in my area are over flowing with ammo. 9mm on 3 different shelves.
What part of the country? Do you recall what something like Federal 9mm 115g American Eagle.ball goes for?
@@markinwa5884 Go to the academy website. You can find it all there.
$15 a box for 9 would be heaven
Bill I have a pair of Red pad M77's
With your barrels on them from before Ruger made their own.
I don't think the prices are going to come back down as much as we hope it will.
don't hold your breath waiting for ammo prices to come down
What part of the country? Still not seeing that on west coast, though ranges have 9mm ball at 80 cents/rd.
What is "greed?" Should ammo companies sell ammo for less than it's worth on the market?
They are making record amounts of ammunition so they should be making record profits, if I worked more then ever before I’d expect to make more then before as well.
you are very correct, it is only GREED!!!
@@facebookiseffedup What do you sell for less than its worth? Give us some examples.
@@66smithra what do you call gas prices now? “What its worth” .. The ammo is being marked up Because that’s what people are willing to pay… And the retailers know it. Personally, I call it price gouging!
Something wicked this way comes
Ammo shelves are stock full in all the places by me, Sale prices should be returning if they want to sell it because many people have plenty and will begin unloading some of it on the private market, Gun show prices will have to stay below gun store prices. This is a cycle that has spun many times over.

If I could get 9mm for $160 a case I’d say “I’ll buy 15 now”
If you find that deal let me know.
@@ronniebuck2691 I had a case back ordered for almost 2 years that I got for like 180. Had two other cases ordered (223/9mm) and they have been canceled by the company saying they have no idea when the orders would be filed and now it’s been over 2 years.. those were $200 for brass 9mm & $230 for 223 soft points
Vou good my friends
I definitely enjoyed buying 9mm steel cased/aluminum at $130 dollars per 1000/ct and brass cased at $169 dollars per 1000/ct versus $300 to $500 for either of the two which I won't pay so I'm reduced to only buying a couple of boxes here and there at the $14 to $19 dollars a box for either of the two then online companies charge way too much for shipping these days on top of that which is all anybody can afford and then not shoot much at all after knowing we can't replace what we shoot at a cheaper price or the same price !!!
Do like sig and other companies. Make your own rounds and sale them yourselves. Dont have a problem ordering online.
I saw a new model precision rifle at Shot Show to be released early summer and I want one. The problem is I can't find quality ammunition for it. What good would it do me to spend a few thousand on a firearm I can't shoot? I have to think that the firearms manufacturers should partner with the ammo manufacturers to expand and/or build larger/more ammo facilities to support firearms manufacturing/sales.
I support the police 10000%. They have a hell of a dangerous job. I've known many police officers through my life. If you are straight with them and respectful so will they. I ingrained that into my sons head. The police are doing their job. You speed and get caught just keep your mouth shot and be respectful to them. I personally have had guns for a long time and although I don't shoot all the time I do shoot on a regular basis. Last but not least any time I see a police officer I always tell officer be safe.

Sadly nobody in the industry will drop prices to where it was before the crisis/pandemic. It is pure and simple greed will keep prices up.
Fear not. In a free market it's IMPOSSIBLE to make prices higher than people are willing to pay. Every purchase is a vote.
@@66smithra I wish that was true but it basically is not. If enough people want something badly enough to pay the higher price then they stay high. People are selfish and do not care about the common good enough to sustain a no buy philosophy.
@@NighthawkCarbine then that means that prices are right! If people pay them, they are what the market will bear. The minute prices reach a point too high that most people pay, they will drop.

Forgive me for not chanting back the blue while watching highlights of Canadian cops stomping the skulls of old women at a peaceful protest, then texting back and forth mocking the people they are supposed to be protecting. That back the blue ship has sailed my friends.
Here's the thing. The bravest cop, firefighter, soldier or anyone who wears a uniform can turn into a quivering bowl of jelly if you threaten their job AND pension, something he or she may have put years into. When their political masters say "Do this! Or else!" they all know what the "Or else!" means.
Maybe they agree with the order, maybe they don't, but there's an old saying:
"Money is a coward, and it can make a coward of anyone."
It takes someone with a VERY stiff backbone to say "No, I WON'T!"

These ammo prices if they
stay double or triple the pre pandemic costs is going to ruin the shooting sports.
It will stay up, that’s what inflation does. Wages will eventually follow but it takes time, that’s why inflation is so damaging.
You shouldn't. Start reloading and break your dependence on the whims of the market.
If you live in a blue state, you get what you deserve.

Is there an actual brick and mortar Wilson arms store? I wanna go, please let me know. 🤣 I’ll make the drive.
I don’t understand why people are building arsenals. How long can any one individual wage war for?
Diehards take expensive training courses and expensive, top of the line guns. I agree, some of the new gun owners will continue to go deeper, most will not.
As with all things, it’s not for everyone. My wife likes to shoot but not enough to do it without me.
I won't consider the emo shortage truly over until I can walk in to the gun shop and buy any amount out of an assortment of power and bullets and cases and everything else in them not be ridiculously priced I mean I don't expect them to be pretty pandemic cheap even though cuz I know those prices are just gone... When I was a kid my grandpa always told me ammunition and guns are an investment because like gold there's always a market for them and they only go up in value because all of my of mine I bought for way cheaper than what they're selling for
So it'll be probably that long and then some for reloading supplies to be readily available like they used to be when in relation to how long it's going to take the ammo market to return to normal because everybody knows if you reload your last on the list when it comes to normalcy returning, which is why reloaders stock up when supplies are plentiful, unfortunately my stupid ass didn't start reloading until just the beginning of the pandemic but unfortunate thing out of all that is I've learned how to make my own primers and powder just not extrude cases because that is a bitch and something that I don't have the equipment to do
100% agree with Bill going forward. We need to get Republicans win this November, period.
I like your information concerning the shooting industry, but I have never understood why people who ostensibly are better able to protect their neighbors, families, friends, etcetera are so often in favor of coopting the job to the enforcement arm of the very regime which seeks to undermine the natural right of self defense.
