2:01 Wow it looks like the entrance to those underground metros of New York! But this goes to show that constructing underground metro is very feasible in Nairobi! 😊 A city like Toronto, Canada has underground walkways and streets that shelter pedestrians from the elements of extreme weather like blizzard etc and it’s good to see Nairobi thinking of something like this! Kenya 🇰🇪 to the world 🌍💪🏿👊🏿
The Haile Selassie pedestrian underpasa is set to be the biggest and most advanced underpass in East Africa. The underpass is also one of a kind in the region being equiped with 5 elevators for persons with disabilities. I recorded this video to showcase the progress and deaign if the underpass. kumbe! i was wondering what the hell they were building there. But I'm 100% sure tuta kua na mjinga who insists on running across the road like a mshamba
Underground Tunnels are going to be of grave safety concerns of they don't have permanent police presence. Let us not fool anyone. The best proposal was thrown out the window once again: to do grade level tunnels and lift the roads that little by 2m and allow safer free flow of pedestrian traffic. Our love affair with cars in the cities blinds us to the very first reason the city exists in fact: to serve and shelter people, not cars.
Your question on security is vid but don't forget we have learnt from failed Flyovers which have become Sokos.. This underpass will be flooding with CCTV cams, patrol officers and of course Kanjo..

Well detailed updates i was like 'what's going on ' when the contractor started excavation but now am fully informed based on your content❤
Good update, looks to be 80% done. They need to get the railway and BRT project running to max out this investment.
Good job bro, videos like this keep us positive atleast we know something tangible is going in this country
Thank you.

Kenya needs such videos more and more in the Era of mis information and Reject Spirit
That drainage beside the walkways they can deepen the trenches and cover them up so that they increase the walking space for pedestrians.

They should place a small police post down there to improve security and discourage vandalism

What about the security aspect.
Will it be safe for the pedestrians to Cross the underpass without worrying about the insecurity.

This idea is very brilliant congrats to who invented it.
Hiyo church itolewe hapo jam ni.
After 50 years Kenya now uses their brain question is kumbe mukenya anajua kujenga skyscrapers and roads and so on why is Kenya still underdeveloped ?
Underdeveloped compared to which country? We are among the leading countries in Africa

It's not built by Kenyans,it's Chinese contractors. The design was done by KENHA.

They look a lot wider in the design which is cool, but what they are building is too narrow.

Eyes can be deceiving.
That is how underground facilities are done. Just like the underground metro the entrance is always narrow but space under is much wider.
Ngeta apo chini nayo c niriski
Now a metro can be commenced from here. They need just bring in TBM and start burrowing for the metro line
Nice idea

Part of railway city master plan
When will the project end
Most of the hard work is done, if they put in the work, probably before the end of the year.
They said March
Hapo tutaibiwa mpaka maini ngojeni mtaona cheza na vijana 😂😂😂😂

The lift will collapse in the first week😂
At first we were to told it's underpass for vehicles, even thought so ,if it's pedestrian it will have very minimal impact
Not so. The underpass goes to and from the bus terminal. It's a major impact to both pedestrians and traffic flow.
