- Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen presents School of Flock, a journey through the art, history and alchemy of interior design.
In this lesson LLB discusses the overstuffed style of Victoriana, where the style originated and how it quietly fizzled out of fashion.

Within the first 3 seconds I knew i was gonna be binge watching this channel.
Hahaha Same here!
For me it was the phrase about the poor stamping their cottage walls between the bouts of diphtheria 😂
Obsessed with this man, I want to study him under a microscope
How have I only just discovered his channel!?!?
I've been pining for this kind of "history /interior design" type videos.
Loving it!
Big words, from a man in a purple tartan suit! i jest, i adore LLB and his stunning wordplay, as well as his sartorial magnificence.
I'm 37, so I was a teenager when changing rooms was on. You were always my favorite designer. Just hearing you speak feels like I'm home. I live in the USA, but I'm lucky to live in a neighborhood that has a lot of victorian references in the houses. I'm so happy you popped up when I was bored enough to look up victorian architecture! :) You definitely breathe life into a stuffy subject ! I look forward to catching up with your other videos and learning with style!
I actually like the Victorian cluttered style.
Same with me. The video was funny though.
I LOVE the Victorian style and all it's attendant clutter.
Yeah! Victorian style is the best style!
Mr. Llewelyn-Bowen. I don't have money for interior design school, but I'm learning so much from your videos, and taking notes. Thank you for sharing your incredible depth of knowledge in this way... egalitarianism at its best and sincerely appreciated.
New sub. This is informative and delightful! I dare say, I need to watch this again when I’m fully awake (been up since 3am).
It's always amazing how much stuff and detail they made back then. Now we have cheap plastics and can hardly afford a house lol
As always wonderfully entertaining and educational. Thank you.
I remember him from Changing Rooms! He looks amazing! Still as stylish and unapologetically British as ever.
Very clever. I am a long admirer of Victorian styles but still find your video both informative and witty. You do judge the era by its worst extremes -- and the same could be done with the same wit for the 20th and 21st c. styles.
I love this guy, Laurence. He puts things in perspective. This is my first time to this channel. Thanks, it's great.
So hoping you'll do more of these! I would love to see one entirely on the art nouveau period!
Honestly it’s the suit for me
Wow, can't believe how different llb looks from when he was younger, luckily he's the same..amusing, sharp witted and brilliant or I wouldn't have believed it was him. 💖
I swear during this entire video I kept thinking "Tim Curry!" in sound and sight, despite knowing he's not in either. LOL
I believe the model used for the illustrations at 15:00 is Evelyn Nesbitt, who captivated two men, one quite a bit older, married, and wealthy, and one, wealthy, dangerous, and completely off his rocker. Check out The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing for more of this sordid tale of debauchery and murder.
He's so extra, I love it
Wonderful as always! I must ask where do you get your dazzling suits? Are they custom made?
Thank you darling for todays interior design lesson. Never again will we swag and tassel a window into oblivion 🍾🥂❤💋
Maybe you won't Kate, but I will. I just finished replicating draperies for an 1885 house and the look is spectacular.
Do you write your own material Lawrence? It's colourful and clever 👍
Why have a feather when you can have a whole bird! 🤣🤣🤣 That was hilarious
I think the Victorians had he right idea. I want the whole bird on hats too !
Just fabulous! Why not more?
absolutely wonderful thankyou
I enjoyed that immensely! Although the Victorians went too far, you've got to love them!
THAT BOOKSHELF is EVERYTHING😛😍😍
Bring back Victoriana, Edwardiana, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco...
As I was scrolling images of Victorian Architecture I came upon something horrible, "Victorian Modern". It felt like a fever dream. It sent me into a indescribable rage, how could someone in the right mind so gladly destroy an absolutely work of art and incredible display of craftsmanship. Or how some of these "restorers" get marvelous surviving victorian mansions, and paint all of the perfectly preserved woodwork white. Goddam it that pisses me off so bad. Anyways, great video on the subject. I learned a great deal.
What-ho! "...females dressed like the furniture of the day!" That was a priceless statement and will be weaponized by the fashion police in my large boisterous family. Your videos are wonderfully instructional and lashed with wry humor.
What an enjoyable video
LLB Gold
I have the eclectic Victorian Country style in my house.
I love all of it though
Ah, a quick romp back through my degree here. Morris was right though, purpose and beauty are all you need.
Makes you wonder where all that magnificent,furniture,knick-knacks,and fabric went to!?
Yes, sad to think most of it went to the rubbish heap. Or destroyed.
love that suit he is wearing...
The suit 😭
Is it correct to say more darker?
No. When comparing an adjective with one syllable you add an er and that's all.
Nice suit and hair!!
Perfection
I want to see pictures, lots and lots of pictures.
That suit though...
Me-ow
💀 😂😂😂 and I like it 😂😂😂
I wish I could love the absolute $&it out of this but, alas, it will only get a thumbs up.
William morris? 😏
Dyyyying
They didn't have tv or cars, no more farming or many places to travel to so they we entertaining themselves there was nothing else to do.
He cant pronounce Rafael! Really...
Chitti man I came here to see some actual designs.... you gave a chiko lecture... because you are a chiko man...
What does Chitti man and chiko mean?
Biased and incorrect! Victorian design was amazing
I totally agree. I never tire of looking at Victorian homes, furnishings and architecture not to mention clothing. Where is that magnificence today?
Horrible suit!
My God one Flower!!!!!
