I’m American and I saw Rema last July in NYC and he was a great performer!! It made me feel sad to hear what happened to him at this concert and honestly good for him for not putting up with it. I used to like American hip hop and rap but honestly just sick of it. African music, especially Nigerian artists and South African artists just do it better. I think there are more Americans like me who are tired of the same stuff all the time.

I fully support him walking off, they messed his sound up and therefore messed up the quality of his performance. Now, as far as if Dreamville fest was disrespecting African music.. that may be a bit of a reach right now. Idk about others but, the ones I know who have performed there have been Burna Boy and now Rema.. and I watched Burna Boy’s whole set last year and it was love from sound engineering and the crowd.

I think ur thinking too much into it , the whole festival had issues with mics and speakers , the sound production was suppose to be upgraded this yr and they still failed , shit half of the first song J COLE performed his mic wasnt on and it pissed me off , not to mention all the other issues regardless entry merch setup and vendors claiming they closed cuz they aint got food ready yet
