    Haven't even watched this yet, but yes it will as long as it has good contact! I stuck a 300lbs to a steel beam and strapped on a rappel harness and held me like a champ!

    I just bought one and I was messing around with it and it didn't feel like it was that strong so I took and pulled out my Sentry Safe and I put it on top of my Sentry safe and it held to it as I picked it up off the ground with no problem then I couldn't get the magnet off so I slid it to the side and as I was sliding it all the paint on the safe was just ripping off

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  6 років тому +3

      Yeah man they're super powerful, have fun but be careful. If you get it stuck on something again try to find a steel rod that will fit in the eyelet and pry it up on it's edge. That's how I got mine off that safe I found, thanks for the comment hope you get to put it to use in the water.

    I just got a 500 Lb magnet about 2 weeks ago myself. It's wicked strong. I was fishing off a dock that's supported by metal beams - the magnet locked onto the bottom side of the dock, and I almost wasn't able to get it off. You can hurt yourself with one of these if you're not careful, seriously.

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  7 років тому +1

      Yeah I know they're dangerous and super strong lol I know I may seem like I'm a little reckless or crazy but I try to always pay attention to where the magnet is in relation to metal objects and my fingers lol! Thanks for watching, and good luck on your next one!

    I'm not going to resort to any fat jokes because frankly, I didn't exactly walk off the cover of Men's Fitness or GQ myself either! :) I'm tired of Safety Police all over videos. Chill people! The man is an adult and is responsible for his own injuries should they occur. It's not like he's telling anyone to go out and repeat what he did. Although truth be told, I sort of want to test my magnets much the same way now. :) I simply want to say that was quite impressive! I honestly didn't think those magnets held as much as they claim to hold but this video just disproved my doubts. I just got a 250lbs holding/pulling force magnet yesterday but looks like I'll go out and buy this one now after seeing this video! Well done good 'Sir!

  • @philliportega3279

    what if you find something over 500bls. under water and you pick it up how do you remove the magnet ?

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  7 років тому +3

      Well if it was over 500 LB and if I could pull hard enough it would let go before I could pull it up. But most stuff in the water has mud, muck, rust, or barnicles on it all of those things reduce the amount of hold the magnet would be able to have on an item. Now if I hit lets say a freshly dumped large safe that was still clean I might have a lot of trouble getting it off lol I'd probably need a crowbar, tire iron, or hammer to get it free.

    I just ordered a 405# magnet and I'm a little worried I'll find a bulldozer or giant steel beam underwater and if it's only 200# rope I'll never be able to get the magnet back.
    Anyone ever have these problems?
    Thinking of putting ten or twenty feet of steel cable as a leader that way if it gets stuck and least I could swim out and hook a chain to the leader and pull it with my truck. 😂

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  6 років тому

      I wouldn't recommend steel because it's just going to stick to your magnet, but stainless steel would be ok. I use a boat anchor line that's rated up to 250# working load but the breaking limit is 1290# and I've never felt like I was going to snap it even when I had that big safe on the other end. Your magnet will probably let go before you break your line.

      Well... not really because most stuff in the water has mud, muck, rust, or barnicles on it and all of those things reduce the amount of hold the magnet would be able to have on an item. So weaker magnets would let go or not even grab some crusty items. Now if I hit lets say a freshly dumped large safe that was still clean I might have a lot of trouble getting it off lol I'd probably need a crowbar, tire iron, or hammer to get it free and if it was in deep deep water I might not be able to get to it.

    Just one problem. If the magnet can hold a greater weight than you can lift, you'll have to cut it free. ;-)

      Thanks a lot! Yeah that's the strongest I've seen before you get into actual industrial magnets that are like boxes that get hooked onto overhead trolley cranes that have a leaver on the side to engage/disengage the magnet inside. Those crazy things...I've seen them up to 2200lb and they're not even electro magnets!!! Check it out! www.amazon.com/VEVOR-Magnetic-Lifter-Lifting-Neodymium/dp/B01KZI1E9M/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1486448203&sr=8-17&keywords=lifting+magnets

      Jiggs Outdoors i was thinking man, hitting pier and jettys will get you loads of stuff, but have you tried tossing from the beach where people swim? May have more of a chance to get someting good. maybe sandy point

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  7 років тому

      I'm not sure if you could go magnet fishing at Sandy Point because that's one of the parks on the list on the MD parks and rec. list that you're not allowed to metal detect so I'd guess they wouldn't like that either lol but the concept is a good idea I could try it out and when I do I'll shout you out with the credit for the idea. I appreciate your idea it might turn out to be a real good one, although not sure what might be out there to find.

    • @JiggsOutdoors
      @JiggsOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      I could be if you ran across an item you couldn't lift. But chances of that aren't that high I'd guess, most Items I've found are covered in rust, mud, barnacles, or are not flat and all those things reduce how well your magnet will grab something so the extra power comes in handy a lot of times.

      Try looking on the internet for magnet companies that you buy directly from their website. I know there are some in the UK and Russia that sell powerful magnets for magnet fishing.
