i remember a time when children would be told to "offer it up for the Holy Souls", if they were sick or experiencing any kind of difficulty. We need to bring this practice back. Only a week ago I reminded my adult daughter to offer up the pain of broken ribs following an accident, and that some souls in purgatory would be helped on their road to Heaven by her suffering, and they in turn would pray for her. This seems to have been forgotten by many people.
So true. I never knew abt it actually until last yr when a priest told me during confession. Otherwise I wouldn't have known if I did not start going to frequent confession. To add, any suffering can be offered for the souls in purgatory and even for the conversion of sinners, healing of the sick, help of the poor, etc.
Not praying for poor souls is such a missed opportunity. I pray for the dead in my family back several generations. I don’t know their names but I know they had to live. Those poor souls will be praying for anyone who prays for their release. Thanks Nuala for the message. So important.

I'm glad I found out about the offering of one's suffering for the Holy souls in purgatory. I offer my pains and suffering to God. However, I recite the prayer of St. Gertrude the Great many times a day for the Holy souls in purgatory especially when I pass by a cemetery. ✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏
Chilling to my heart and soul! Years ago I was awakened early in the morning and was inspired to go to mass . I did not even know it was the feast of Our Lady of Knock. I attended a church outside of the town I lived in , a stain glass window of Our Lady of Knock . The window was cracked went outside to have a better look and I appeared the church had been struck by lightning. I knocked on the door of a nearby building and what was once a retreat center. The person who answered seemed unaware or concerned. The whole event made me wonder what spiritually might be going on there. I did look for a rectory and there was no answer . I went back to pray for the people and parish and religious of that church . I never found out why I was lead there but I prayed with my whole heart that Mary and Jesus would intervene . So much of the spiritual life is like the mystery of silence. And all we can do is pray.

Thank you for this video. My grandmother was born in 1898 and from Ballyhaunis near Knock. She immigrated to the U.S. when only 12 but maintained a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary her entire life. My grandmother passed away on November 1st, 1966. Our family went to Knock Shrine when I was a teen, but I only lately have been feeling more and more an intense urgency to pray for the poor souls. Grateful for this channel to continue learning about the souls in purgatory!
I’m hoping and praying especially to the Holy Souls that were dedicated to Our Lady to please help me get my sister’s ashes from her Guardian in Alaska. My sister and I were very close as two sisters could be. We traveled to Knoch and Medjugorje 3 x Guadeloupe. She got Alzheimer’s and totally turned very negative towards me. She wanted to go and live in Alaska. She died in 23. Her guardian did not call me until a week later to let me know she had died. I live in Upstate New York. So now I am praying to the Holy Souls to help me get her ashes.

@ my sister is in heaven already. We had many Gregorian masses said for her. She also had spiritual gifts The Holy Spirit gave her. She was well loved by many.
Thank you Alvaro for this video and for all im learning in this channel. I have been a mediocre Catholic, but im trying to amend that. Since the recent pandemic, my spiritual life has changed, thanks to the graces from heaven and our Mother's intercession. My religious instruction was poor during my childhood, however poor as it was , it has led me to where I am now. God is so good and merciful. I cannot get enough of Him. I have been led by the help of my guardian angel, to find channels that help me in my journey of faith, such as yours. I have been praying the holy Rosary every day for the past 5 years, and my intentions are for the holy souls in purgatory and the conversation of all sinners. However, it was in your videos that led me to make this act of mercy, praying for the suffering souls this month in a more charitable way. I love God and Christ our saviour and my love for our blessed mother is all encompassing. The rosary is my most valued possession. Keep the faith and nurture your love of our Lord and Saviour. I’ve been to Knock and touched my Rosary to the Gable end. This was many years ago. It was x a privilege to visit the Holy Shrine. I was saying in Dublin for a short holiday before going to Lisieux. When I made a visit to see the Rosary priest, Father Gabriel Harty. God rest his soul.
Knock is so beautiful. It is holy ground. The genocide of the Irish started with a failed potato crop but 2 million died because of English brutality. So true it was a holocaust. Well presented and very informative video.

Im irish and have been living in UK since my teens and I am ashamed to say I wasnt aware of Knock's connection to the holy souls until quite recently. You are absolutely right in every thing you say here. Anyway, i have a little story for you. Some years ago when I was passing Knock in the evening, i stopped just for a brief visit. An old man from the village of Knock itself, spoke to me, saying that he has visited the shrine every day since he was a child, and as he put it, 'to speak to Our beautiful Lady and pray the souls in purgatory'. The encounter humbled me. After what you said in this vid, i can only imagine the old man was a relative of one of the visionaries.

The Irish people or peasants ate the same food as the animals: potatoes. The more expensive crops like wheat, barley etc went to England. My great...great-grandfather who lived on Aranmore Island, Co Donegal at this time met the captain of the boat that was to take the grain from the island (leaving them to starve). He only spoke Irish and was trying to convey to the captain that it was a bad idea to take the grain. The captain could not understand so Dan aka Mad Dan Green grabbed his beard and picked him up and lowered him over the side of the boat up as far as his neck. Then he lifted him back. The captain finally understood and left. However the constabulary soon arrived and took Dan into custody and he ended up in Sligo jail. However he befriended the cook and ended up in the kitchen helping out and came out of prison about 2 stone heavier (28 lbs). Note this was during the famine. There are many other stories too.
The apparition at Knock occurred on the exact same day that the Basilica in LaSalette was dedicated to Our Lady of Salette. Our Lady of La Salette spoke of potatoe crop failures and famines.

The Irish did not die of plague they died of starvation in 1847, previously having been subjected to many, many, many years of brutality and severe persecution for their faith.
He did say that it was a potato plague (some people called it a potato blight) then went on to say how this potato famine killed the Irish along with England starving them.

It’s said that the blood of the martyrs strengthens the faithful. I’m not Irish, but I love them because all my good & holy priests were Irish. They taught about their poverty and big families and beautiful green countryside. I bet there’s many Irishmen in heaven. 🍀

There is a big shrine to Our Lady where they pray continuously for souls who enroll or are enrolled and you can enroll the souls of your relatives - in France. It is called Our Lady of Montligeon - NotreDame de Montligeon.

I read a while back that the potato famine is also connected to Our Lady of La Sallete. She warned of a potato famine because of 2 main sins; one being taking the Lord thy God's name in vain and the other I can't remember exactly but it may have been working on Sundays. If anyone else has heard about this connection please comment.
Yes I have heard that too. Our Lady of La Sallette also confirmed the Holy Face devotion. Both these apparitions are about sins against the first three commandments.

The South of Ireland along with all of Ireland were wiped out, thise sent om coffin ships to Australia only a handful made it.

Interesting take - personally I don’t think Knock was about purgatory. Penance wasn’t asked for and no warning was given us - unlike other Marian apparitions. The Irish had and were willingly already living a life of Penance without being asked for it. We were at the hands of the same murderous occupiers for centuries - the crown was conquering, Protestantising & colonising across the world but her nearest neighbour a tiny Catholic island nation wouldn’t fold and were proud to be martyred for the 1 true faith and at that time living through attempted Genocide because we wouldn’t renounce our faith. Personally I believe Our King and Our Queen appeared with St Joseph and St John and countless Angels to show solidarity and strengthen our resolve and to reward us for our love and life of faith. Knock was warning of what was coming and what theyd do, it’s the only apparition site which shows the Novus Ordo in front of the true altar. At Fatima she warned not to change the Mass. The people of Ireland lost the faith and it’s because of Vatican II. They changed all the sacraments . The enemy is at work . The new is a disgrace. They also removed the statues the seers worked with artists to create and put modernist statues in its place .

What people often miss is that this apparition is unlike any other globally. Look up Isaiah 6 and you will see the throne of God, surrounded by Seraphim. You cannot see their eyes and faces, exactly as they saw in Knock. Next read Revelation 4-7, that is why you see the lamb, as though slain, on the altar. This apparition is a Pure Eucharistic apparition. That is why it is silent. There is no equal to this apparition, anywhere in the world. I live within 45 mins of the shrine, and go there often.
Love when ppl educate on Irish history. Just to be clear - there are still British landlords ie Lord Meath or Duke of Devonshire - who own masses of prime land in Ireland. Also you say Southern Ireland wasn’t as badly hit because there was industry???? Do you mean the soup kitchens? Any Irish who went into the soup kitchens went to their deaths. Mass graves are throughout Ireland the most recent being that of a soup kitchens when Irish voluntarily went because they got food if they worked… all died. The last mass graves uncovered… we’re all of children. Their bones revealed they had died of scurvy, typhoid and dysentery which is all caused by malnourishment and bad water. The famine in Ireland was used to cull the population… it is unofficially recognised as an act of genocide. The Irish government has done nothing to help with getting it recognised.

My great grandfather, John Mackey, born in County Clare, emigrated to Australia about 1860, as did many Irish people. In 1960 it was estimated that about half the population of Australia had an Irish ancestor. I note that images shown on this video of an altar setting unfortunately show a picnic table, not traditional altar of sacrifice for Latin Mass. Maybe. Ireland should return to Tradition Attending Chapels of SSPX . 🙏

Aw you would be missing out for sure. The altar is right there front and center and the tabernacle is just behind to the left. They cannot put the Tabernacle directly behind the altar because they are showing the apparition. Sometimes we have to look beyond what we think is the holiest thing and realize that there are holy things right in front of us. Missing out on mass there simply because one thinks there’s no altar and that the tabernacle is in the wrong place would be doing oneself a disservice. ❤♥️ He clearly shows the altar in some video cuts, even with the simple monstrance and candles on it -many blessings 🙏

That's the basilica the original church is still there. Beautiful altar and has the marble altar rails. But of course they don't use them anymore. Sadly.
Speaking for myself, I do not feel that the Knock apparition was started by purgatory. Fr. Cavanagh performed a tremendous act of charity by offering one hundred Masses for the Holy Souls in purgatory. I truly believe he was protected from harm by them. The Knock apparition was a consolation for the suffering, starving people reminding them of heavenly reality through symbolism. The Lamb on the altar is the sacrifice of the Mass. St. John, dressed in Mass vestments, wrote a Gospel stressing the real presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread, and the Book of Revelation in which we see the Lamb on the altar. The Blessed Virgin with her uplifted hands in prayer assures us of her constant intercession for us. St. Joseph is silent, strong, protector of the family and the Church. He had recently (1870) been proclaimed patron of the universal Church. Although no one speaks the symbolism speaks powerfully, an amazing scene!
I saw this tableau when I visited knock. Just wondering what is written on St. John's open book. Can't figure or read it. It could be the key to the message of Knock. Anyone knows what is written there?

Im saddened that people stand talking and laughing and dress indecently while visiting the house of god , theres no reverence or respect. It should be quiet and peaceful where you can sit and enjoy the silence and focus talking to god without distraction. 🙏

My sister and I were very close as two sisters could be. We traveled to Knoch and Medjugorje 3 x Guadeloupe. She got Alzheimer’s and totally turned very negative towards me. She wanted to go and live in Alaska. She died in 23. Her guardian did not call me until a week later to let me know she had died. I live in Upstate New York. So now I am praying to the Holy Souls to help me get her ashes.

I’ve been to Knock and touched my Rosary to the Gable end. This was many years ago. It was x a privilege to visit the Holy Shrine. I was saying in Dublin for a short holiday before going to Lisieux. When I made a visit to see the Rosary priest, Father Gabriel Harty. God rest his soul.
Knock is so beautiful. It is holy ground. The genocide of the Irish started with a failed potato crop but 2 million died because of English brutality. So true it was a holocaust. Well presented and very informative video.

Anyway, i have a little story for you. Some years ago when I was passing Knock in the evening, i stopped just for a brief visit. An old man from the village of Knock itself, spoke to me, saying that he has visited the shrine every day since he was a child, and as he put it, 'to speak to Our beautiful Lady and pray the souls in purgatory'. The encounter humbled me.
After what you said in this vid, i can only imagine the old man was a relative of one of the visionaries.

The Irish people or peasants ate the same food as the animals: potatoes. The more expensive crops like wheat, barley etc went to England. My great...great-grandfather who lived on Aranmore Island, Co Donegal at this time met the captain of the boat that was to take the grain from the island (leaving them to starve). He only spoke Irish and was trying to convey to the captain that it was a bad idea to take the grain. The captain could not understand so Dan aka Mad Dan Green grabbed his beard and picked him up and lowered him over the side of the boat up as far as his neck. Then he lifted him back. The captain finally understood and left. However the constabulary soon arrived and took Dan into custody and he ended up in Sligo jail. However he befriended the cook and ended up in the kitchen helping out and came out of prison about 2 stone heavier (28 lbs). Note this was during the famine. There are many other stories too.

The apparition at Knock occurred on the exact same day that the Basilica in LaSalette was dedicated to Our Lady of Salette. Our Lady of La Salette spoke of potatoe crop failures and famines.

The Irish did not die of plague they died of starvation in 1847, previously having been subjected to many, many, many years of brutality and severe persecution for their faith.
He did say that it was a potato plague (some people called it a potato blight) then went on to say how this potato famine killed the Irish along with England starving them.

There is a big shrine to Our Lady where they pray continuously for souls who enroll or are enrolled and you can enroll the souls of your relatives - in France. It is called Our Lady of Montligeon - NotreDame de Montligeon.

She warned of a potato famine because of 2 main sins; one being taking the Lord thy God's name in vain and the other I can't remember exactly but it may have been working on Sundays.

Interesting take - personally I don’t think Knock was about purgatory.
Penance wasn’t asked for and no warning was given us - unlike other Marian apparitions.
The Irish had and were willingly already living a life of Penance without being asked for it.
We were at the hands of the same murderous occupiers for centuries - the crown was conquering, Protestantising & colonising across the world but her nearest neighbour a tiny Catholic island nation wouldn’t fold and were proud to be martyred for the 1 true faith and at that time living through attempted Genocide because we wouldn’t renounce our faith.

What people often miss is that this apparition is unlike any other globally. Look up Isaiah 6 and you will see the throne of God, surrounded by Seraphim. You cannot see their eyes and faces, exactly as they saw in Knock. Next read Revelation 4-7, that is why you see the lamb, as though slain, on the altar. This apparition is a Pure Eucharistic apparition. That is why it is silent. There is no equal to this apparition, anywhere in the world. I live within 45 mins of the shrine, and go there often.
The Queenship of Mary was May 31 not Aug 22, until after Vat II. TLM still honors her on May 31. Our Queen of Heaven!

Also you say Southern Ireland wasn’t as badly hit because there was industry???? Do you mean the soup kitchens? Any Irish who went into the soup kitchens went to their deaths. Mass graves are throughout Ireland the most recent being that of a soup kitchens when Irish voluntarily went because they got food if they worked… all died. The last mass graves uncovered… we’re all of children. Their bones revealed they had died of scurvy, typhoid and dysentery which is all caused by malnourishment and bad water.

My great grandfather, John Mackey, born in County Clare, emigrated to Australia about 1860, as did many Irish people. In 1960 it was estimated that about half the population of Australia had an Irish ancestor. I note that images shown on this video of an altar setting unfortunately show a picnic table, not traditional altar of sacrifice for Latin Mass. Maybe. Ireland should return to Tradition Attending Chapels of SSPX . 🙏

Aw you would be missing out for sure. The altar is right there front and center and the tabernacle is just behind to the left. They cannot put the Tabernacle directly behind the altar because they are showing the apparition. Sometimes we have to look beyond what we think is the holiest thing and realize that there are holy things right in front of us. Missing out on mass there simply because one thinks there’s no altar and that the tabernacle is in the wrong place would be doing oneself a disservice. ❤♥️ He clearly shows the altar in some video cuts, even with the simple monstrance and candles on it -many blessings 🙏

Speaking for myself, I do not feel that the Knock apparition was started by purgatory. Fr. Cavanagh performed a tremendous act of charity by offering one hundred Masses for the Holy Souls in purgatory. I truly believe he was protected from harm by them. The Knock apparition was a consolation for the suffering, starving people reminding them of heavenly reality through symbolism. The Lamb on the altar is the sacrifice of the Mass. St. John, dressed in Mass vestments, wrote a Gospel stressing the real presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread, and the Book of Revelation in which we see the Lamb on the altar. The Blessed Virgin with her uplifted hands in prayer assures us of her constant intercession for us. St. Joseph is silent, strong, protector of the family and the Church. He had recently (1870) been proclaimed patron of the universal Church.
Although no one speaks the symbolism speaks powerfully, an amazing scene!

John wrote the book of Revelation. The apparition is all about this book, in particular 4-7
