I watched this interview before, many times, but it's more meaningful to me now after the storm... I really admire Xiao Zhan. I salute his strict parents/family, XZ was raised well. He is down to earth, clear-headed, and well-mannered. I always thank God for Xiao Zhan and I thank God that he is finally back. He said probably they thought that he changed but he really cherishes his friends. He just became busier and more matured than before.
@@niyal4794 i am just really thankful he found a true friend in yibo. Which is why it was painful with the recent attacks, he was so happy and carefree again. Their bond you could tell really brought life/joy back into his life(actually both of theirs, they were genuinely bonded and happy being around each other). One of my favourite parts of this interview and is phrased so well by the host: Xiao Zhan is someone who "neither aims to be smart nor has disdain for the foolish. Not sure if many people will see this, but from comments I've read a lot of people are surprised if not saddened by how careful Xiao Zhan is with his wording. Though it may seem unfortunate, I think Xiao Zhan very much understands his position as a celebrity and how this distance between him and his fans is necessary. There is a huge cultural difference between the Chinese entertainment industry compared to, per say, Western ones. Much of it lies on the concept of "面子", or a conscience of one's reputation and how it reflects on both yourself and your loved ones, an element that is deeply embedded within Chinese tradition and culture. I think what makes Xiao Zhan stand out besides from his humility and eloquence is his ability to reflect on himself and his influence, and his constant awareness of "面子" in nearly every aspect of his life. I admire him for his lack of rashness that is so often seen in other younger idols - it's not easy to be a top star in the most populated country in the world, not to mention the harshness and over-analytical nature of netizens. But while his frustrations may mirror many of ours, I think he really does understand where the irrational hate comes from. For every fan he has, he will have at least two haters. That's just how it is. The most we can do is support him and not respond to the hate with hate. It is essential to know that our behavior as fans impacts his "面子" as well, so please always think twice when it comes to him. Respect his boundaries as a person. There has been damage done already. It's so rare to find a gem like him, so full of genuity and passion and thought, in an oversaturated industry.
I agree with you a lot, putting "distance" when communicating with fans is not every idol's way of communicating and expressing themselves Infront of the camera, after all they're like everybody else and no one is like the other, we all have different lives and experiences that we learned from and quite developed because of them, in xiao zhan's case, coming from his personality, it's a very rational decision to outline his distance between himself and his fan's, after all he's the kind of person that will not think of his fans and his friends as "same/one" thing, (especially, considering the experiences he underwent and his condition due to (Asian, and mostly Chinese) society) it's natural of him to be cautious of his actions, wording and the affect it has on people, his aware of these things and that's the reason of this needed "distance" that he's putting.

I love this guy! Granted, at first I was drawn by his looks, but the more I got to know about him, the more I liked who he is as a person. I like how thoughtful and smart he is with his answers here, and how cautious he is about what he say. He is intelligent in a quiet humble manner and you can really see how grounded and mature his view of life is. It's a shame he has to go through all this hate and scandals, but I'm sure he has the courage and the perseverance to come out stronger and wiser on the other side. I'm a person who doesn't eat chips, but watching Xiao Zhan eat makes me want some. It's out of mind why anyone would hate such a beautiful, humble person as Xiao Zhan. I have not seen anyone so thoughtful of his words and careful of his characteristic as much as Xiao Zhan. As interrogating as some of the questions the host asked him on this interview, he kept his composure and answered the questions with the utmost elegance and honesty. There is absolutely NOTHING to hate about him.

Indeed, he's certainly a complex person but with along some of his interviews that I had watching, he really thinks what would he'd say. And I love that about him, carefully and be sure with what would his words.
So here we are already 8 months into the awful beginnings of a new decade, and 2020 has not been kind to Xiao Zhan to say the least. Watching what he's been through in the last 6 months is utterly heartbreaking and maddening at the same time. Re-watching this video that I originally watched 4 months ago makes me hurt for him even more. He's refreshingly honest and humble and also at times emotional when he talks about how being an idol has changed his life in relation to his private life. He really is a "what you see - is what you get" kind of person...there's no "airs" about him. What he's feared has come into reality, mainly his "explosive popularity" that has made his life a vortex of unprecedented love and hate(which I can't grasp why) at the same time, but somehow he's managed to come out of the storm, a little battered, but brave enough to continue to balance his celebrity vs his "real life", mostly by helping others, donating his time and money and star power to worthy causes, like coronavirus at home, poverty and internet bullying. He's "still the same Xiao Zhan" and I respect that. To quote him: "Regarding people's impressions, or guesswork, I believe in the law of equivalence. It's a big world and if there are people who love you, then there will be an equal amount of people that will hate you. In their eyes, everything you do , even breathing, will be wrong, so why don't you work harder, so that people who love you can love you even more?" I think its hilarious when the interviewer was talking about the staff not letting her eat and told her she's too fat, XZ was looking off camera to the side in horror probably wondering if those are the same staff that made her cry and were so strict. And then when she was defending herself again all 'I'm 38, I'm at that age, it's normal!' she wasn't even looking at and speaking to XZ anymore. It felt like she was looking behind the camera and talking at the staff. 😂

Is Xiao Zhan aware of how insightful and wise his words are? I just got to know Xiao Zhan from his drama the Untamed, and this was the first interview I watched. I’m back here again because I feel a weird sense of satisfaction and motivation. After a few months have passed, I'm back here watching this interview. knowing the fact that xiao zhan was an honest person and so wise in every thought and action made me wonder why people could hate him. I watched several interviews, which he did and I found no difference in his perspective in dealing with questions and also fearing his personal life. everything is very well managed by him, he has a very warm way of thinking and everything can be very in accordance with how he runs his life, so I asked again what they expect from him while he has tried to be so open to the media and fans there. all the interviews that I have watched have really helped me see the world more sincerely and as it is. Now that he has begun to return, I hope that people can see more of the positive side he has compared to continuing to blame him for things he did not even do, blaming him for disappearing and locking himself in. I believe that everything in the future will go smoothly and well for xiao zhan . He is not an easy person to destroy, he is a truly extraordinary person with a beautiful mindset. Thank you for a translated version of this. I've only recently got interested in this actor after watching a series he starred in and have been curious about his other works. I've seen quite a few interviews with him now but this interview in particular I felt was the best one I've seen. The interviewer is very good and I get the feeling she's great at making people she interviews feel relaxed and comfortable. This really feels like a private discussion between two people over coffee. I really enjoyed learning more about Xiao Zhan. I was only recently made aware of certain things that have happened to him this year and I only hope he can derive strength from those close to him to get through the difficult time. He seems quite a genuine person, introspective and self aware. I admire his thoughts on the topics brought up here and his thoughtful nature.

I've never paid much attention to Xiao Zhan and only knew of him because of his friendship with Yibo, but this interview just made me a fan of him. To me, I don't stan unless I can appreciate and respect that person's personality, much like how I would make a friend. The entire interview was achingly sincere and genuine - yes, he was careful with his words, but in a way that was clearly more to avoid misunderstandings than to make himself appear in a better light. There was not a single point in the interview that struck me as him trying too hard or being insincere. He's unapologetically himself, because he knows that he has good intentions in whatever he does or says. The parts that touched me the most were when he got emotional - when he talked about his fan who wrote the letter to him, and when he talked about his friends who pulled away from him. That said, he was 28(?) when this interview took place, and had been in the entertainment world for several years already, so it might be a bit insulting to have expected less of him. I'm just impressed and grateful that he has remained so humble and genuine despite his meteoric rise thanks to The Untamed.

It's heartbreaking, really. I've only learned about him in May 2021, and I didn't know about 227 at the time. But I always noticed how cautious and aware of the industry he is. He is always careful and proper during interviews, and even in BTS from 2018. He is the one who always guided and warned Yibo about his phrasing about certain things. I don't think anyone on the Untamed cast is as cautious with his words as Xiao Zhan is. Yet, he is the one that got vilified and hurt. Humans really are the worst. But thankfully humans can also be the most loving and Xiao Zhan rightfully has a lot of our genuine love. I hope he knows that.
Both my biases Yoona and Xiao Zhan has similar personalities. They really are like the same person. I've been following Yoona for a long time so I know more about her personality, especially when she's having a hard time or when she's at the peak of popularity. I watched this interview before, many times, but it's more meaningful to me now after the storm... I really admire Xiao Zhan. I salute his strict parents/family, XZ was raised well. He said probably they thought that he changed but he really cherishes his friends. He just became busier and more matured than before.

Their bond you could tell really brought life/joy back into his life(actually both of theirs, they were genuinely bonded and happy being around each other). One of my favourite parts of this interview and is phrased so well by the host: Xiao Zhan is someone who "neither aims to be smart nor has disdain for the foolish. Not sure if many people will see this, but from comments I've read a lot of people are surprised if not saddened by how careful Xiao Zhan is with his wording. Though it may seem unfortunate, I think Xiao Zhan very much understands his position as a celebrity and how this distance between him and his fans is necessary. There is a huge cultural difference between the Chinese entertainment industry compared to, per say, Western ones. Much of it lies on the concept of "面子", or a conscience of one's reputation and how it reflects on both yourself and your loved ones, an element that is deeply embedded within Chinese tradition and culture. I think what makes Xiao Zhan stand out besides from his humility and eloquence is his ability to reflect on himself and his influence, and his constant awareness of "面子" in nearly every aspect of his life. I admire him for his lack of rashness that is so often seen in other younger idols - it's not easy to be a top star in the most populated country in the world, not to mention the harshness and over-analytical nature of netizens. But while his frustrations may mirror many of ours, I think he really does understand where the irrational hate comes from. For every fan he has, he will have at least two haters. That's just how it is. The most we can do is support him and not respond to the hate with hate. I love this guy! Granted, at first I was drawn by his looks, but the more I got to know about him, the more I liked who he is as a person. So here we are already 8 months into the awful beginnings of a new decade, and 2020 has not been kind to Xiao Zhan to say the least. Watching what he's been through in the last 6 months is utterly heartbreaking and maddening at the same time. Re-watching this video that I originally watched 4 months ago makes me hurt for him even more. He's refreshingly honest and humble and also at times emotional when he talks about how being an idol has changed his life in relation to his private life. He really is a "what you see - is what you get" kind of person...there's no "airs" about him. What he's feared has come into reality, mainly his "explosive popularity" that has made his life a vortex of unprecedented love and hate(which I can't grasp why) at the same time, but somehow he's managed to come out of the storm, a little battered, but brave enough to continue to balance his celebrity vs his "real life", mostly by helping others, donating his time and money and star power to worthy causes, like coronavirus at home, poverty and internet bullying. He's "still the same Xiao Zhan" and I respect that. To quote him: "Regarding people's impressions, or guesswork, I believe in the law of equivalence. It's a big world and if there are people who love you, then there will be an equal amount of people that will hate you. In their eyes, everything you do , even breathing, will be wrong, so why don't you work harder, so that people who love you can love you even more?" I think its hilarious when the interviewer was talking about the staff not letting her eat and told her she's too fat, XZ was looking off camera to the side in horror probably wondering if those are the same staff that made her cry and were so strict. And then when she was defending herself again all 'I'm 38, I'm at that age, it's normal!' she wasn't even looking at and speaking to XZ anymore. It felt like she was looking behind the camera and talking at the staff. 😂

Is Xiao Zhan aware of how insightful and wise his words are? People think he’s being diplomatic but no, I think he’s just a man with refined thoughts and articulate them in a way that will leave a long lasting impression on you. I just got to know Xiao Zhan from his drama the Untamed, and this was the first interview I watched. I’m back here again because I feel a weird sense of satisfaction and motivation. After a few months have passed, I'm back here watching this interview. knowing the fact that xiao zhan was an honest person and so wise in every thought and action made me wonder why people could hate him. I watched several interviews, which he did and I found no difference in his perspective in dealing with questions and also fearing his personal life. everything is very well managed by him, he has a very warm way of thinking and everything can be very in accordance with how he runs his life, so I asked again what they expect from him while he has tried to be so open to the media and fans there. all the interviews that I have watched have really helped me see the world more sincerely and as it is.
Now that he has begun to return, I hope that people can see more of the positive side he has compared to continuing to blame him for things he did not even do, blaming him for disappearing and locking himself in. I believe that everything in the future will go smoothly and well for xiao zhan . He is not an easy person to destroy, he is a truly extraordinary person with a beautiful mindset. Thank you for a translated version of this. I've only recently got interested in this actor after watching a series he starred in and have been curious about his other works. I've seen quite a few interviews with him now but this interview in particular I felt was the best one I've seen. The interviewer is very good and I get the feeling she's great at making people she interviews feel relaxed and comfortable. This really feels like a private discussion between two people over coffee. I really enjoyed learning more about Xiao Zhan. I was only recently made aware of certain things that have happened to him this year and I only hope he can derive strength from those close to him to get through the difficult time. He seems quite a genuine person, introspective and self aware. I admire his thoughts on the topics brought up here and his thoughtful nature.

It seems as though it'd be difficult to get through the to the head of someone who only cares about the destruction of someone else, but, I would just like to say to those haters, stop doing whatever you're doing. I've never paid much attention to Xiao Zhan and only knew of him because of his friendship with Yibo, but this interview just made me a fan of him. To me, I don't stan unless I can appreciate and respect that person's personality, much like how I would make a friend. The entire interview was achingly sincere and genuine - yes, he was careful with his words, but in a way that was clearly more to avoid misunderstandings than to make himself appear in a better light. There was not a single point in the interview that struck me as him trying too hard or being insincere. He's unapologetically himself, because he knows that he has good intentions in whatever he does or says. The parts that touched me the most were when he got emotional - when he talked about his fan who wrote the letter to him, and when he talked about his friends who pulled away from him. That said, he was 28(?) when this interview took place, and had been in the entertainment world for several years already, so it might be a bit insulting to have expected less of him. I'm just impressed and grateful that he has remained so humble and genuine despite his meteoric rise thanks to The Untamed.

It's heartbreaking, really. I've only learned about him in May 2021, and I didn't know about 227 at the time. But I always noticed how cautious and aware of the industry he is. He is always careful and proper during interviews, and even in BTS from 2018. He is the one who always guided and warned Yibo about his phrasing about certain things. I don't think anyone on the Untamed cast is as cautious with his words as Xiao Zhan is. Yet, he is the one that got vilified and hurt. Humans really are the worst. But thankfully humans can also be the most loving and Xiao Zhan rightfully has a lot of our genuine love. I hope he knows that.

They really are like the same person. I've been following Yoona for a long time so I know more about her personality, especially when she's having a hard time or when she's at the peak of popularity. xiao zhao did a great job filming the untamed ,the story of untamed is the answer that xaio zhan had already given to all the fans and even to the haters
i think people watched the untamed but sadly failed to catch the morals of the story .in many different stages of the story the actors ...i means the presenters really tried hard to make us know what is real what is fake . if i were to make you memorise then ''how to know what is black and what is white '' these lines from the untamed are good enough to bring the memory back to your mind .what is real and fake asking such question can change no one's personality .you cannot assume someone to right or wrong because is a relative question .for someone i can be god and for other be a devil. no one can study once's character deeply and completely .what we can do is to appreciate someone's love and hardwork because our heart in itself know if we are wronged by someone or not
