Between the 1870s and the 1990s, Canada's federal government took more than 150,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit children from their families and forced them to attend Residential Schools designed to strip them of their languages and cultures. These schools were operated by churches. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada found evidence that at least 4,100 children died at the institutions, but said the true total is likely much higher. The last residential school in operation closed in 1996 and the impacts of the government-sponsored and church-run cultural genocide of Indigenous peoples are far greater than I can communicate in this comment. The slogan "Every Child Matters" has become synonymous with this advocacy movement, and the hand logo on Jaylene's dress is the imagery associated with this slogan. Andy Emerson, who Jaylene had the blessing from, had created this Every Child Matters logo in 2015. Since 2021, September 30th is a day of observation in Canada called "National Day for Truth and Reconciliation" and is also known as "Orange Shirt Day". Peoples all across the country wear orange shirts on this day, and sadly many companies have tried to rip off Andy's design to profit off of what they view as a something they can profit off of. As such, it was wonderful to see Andy getting his deserved flowers on national tv in this moment. Seeing Jaylene wear this finale dress was one of the most beautiful and powerful moments she's shared with us.

The big stumble this season, in my opinion, was production not giving a good "winner storyline" for any of the final four. They completely forgot about Helena, and they treated Minhi's track record as though it happened by pure luck. Even with Virgo and Makayla, it felt like they were emphasizing their negative moments (doesn't help that their wins were the first half of the season and bottom placements were the second half). Overall I think the right queen won. The Virgo Queen was arguably the most well rounded & elevated of the final four. Makayla & Helena will make a great All Stars pick in a few years. Minhi too once she gets more performing experience.

The Virgo Queen was my favorite since Episode 1 and I'm so happy she won! I've seen online people already discredit & hate on her which upsets me. Sure, she didn't have the best track record, but I feel like Brooke and the producers don't care about about it. "Track record" really is a made up concept, they just crown who they think deserves the win, which is something I love about Canada's Drag Race. Anyone can win! Only one winner had the best track record, Venus, the rest didn't and it shows that any Queen can have a chance, which I actually love. So proud of Virgo though! I knew she was a winner after her "exes" lipsync, which was my favorite of the season.
The last two seasons of Canada have lowkey been the same for me. The season starts off strong and the drama is there, but the season kind of falls off 2/3 the way in and I get bored. This season didn’t have a roast, Rusical, or acting challenge so we didn’t get as much comedy as a usual season which I found strange. Weird that 4 of 9 challenges(including the finale) were singing/performance challenges
I was annoyed that Minhi was not one of the final 2. If there was an acting challenge this season, it might have been a tad different. I think Minhi and Helena would have done well, and Virgo and Makayla might have struggled. Now having a winner who’s not a strong performer would have been a choice, but it has happened. And if Minhi had more performance experience, she might not have stumbled as much at the end. But again, if we had had a rusical, most likely Makayla and Virgo would have done well. Overall, we should have a season with a few more episodes and challenges. The Virgo Queen was my early choice for a winner. But I quickly jumped on the Minhi Wang’s train. Now the best thing about this finale for me was Jaylene’s dress.
She posted a few days before the finale that her original look fell through and she had to do something different last minute but I feel like she probably had something in her closet that looked better than that. 😬

The Final top 2 should be a culmination of their track record The ENTIRE SEASON not the final challenge IMO! no way, none out of the 2 with the better track record didnt even get to make it to the final lipsnyc (even if Mini wouldnt slay the lipsync) it would be the correct thing to do!!
LOL, I swear YC is the only damn UA-cam reactor who keeps it 100% real and honest. This season was mediocre, and so was the finale. The music tracks sounded AWFUL, like they were whipped up on Garage Band in 15 minutes, same as season 4. Doesn’t matter how hard the queens try when they don’t have adequate backing and support, the end product will be lacklustre. Also, not the winner being someone who coasted for the majority of the season and suddenly pulled out a winning final performance. I dunno, I just don’t think this season is memorable at all, and YC’s reaction encapsulates that for me 😂😂😂
You are so right about saying the finale shouldn’t matter more than the whole season. I always see people say they think the 2 best of the finale only should be the top2 and I just don’t get it. Helena and Minhi did the best in the ssn and didn’t really have a bad episode, while both makayla and Virgo had 2…. Idk who exactly I’d put in the final2, but Helena would’ve definitely been there. She had the 2nd best track of the ssn and did great in the finale on top of that

I really did not like the second half of this season. After Jaylene went home, the only reason I was watching was because of Perla and she was getting robbed literally almost every single week. Most of all, Makayla made me so mad each time she was going off. As a singer as well, I could tell she was lying about the whole "I haven't sang in years" thing because the voice is a muscle that needs to be exercised. She lied a lot for like no reason and it was so annoying. I'm sure she's a lovely person outside of the show, but she is probably one of the most nerve-racking queens to ever be on drag race imo. Virgo winning to me felt like... uh okay... sure. She felt nonexistent throughout the season even though she was apparently doing good? To me, Perla felt like the main character even though they tried to snub her from the edit for some reason. I'm honestly happy it's over haha. Definitely the worst Canada season for me.Also it felt like they eliminated the interesting queens in reverse order.
I think Makayla meant she hasn’t sang publicly. She wasn’t my favorite. Sometimes she had too much to say but I’m like that myself so maybe that’s why I found it off putting. The Virgo Queen was a safe choice having done very well in the finale. I’m not mad about it.
I'm gonna disagree with you about the song for the final lip sync. We've seen Virgo and Makayla do stunts and tricks and up tempo songs multiple times so to have them do a ballad felt more like a real challenge.
The lipsync being a ballad isn’t the problem. They just love to pick songs from the 90’s by Canadian singers. That song is nearly 30 years old. Pick something more current is what I’m saying.

I think based on the finale episode Makayla deserved it but I’m very happy for Vigro cuz she came in my 2nd place for the finale. I know a lot of people like to take track record from the whole season into it but here and there we have seen that you can eat the season up and fumble at the finale.
