Don't do parties at home if that is the case. Im asian and i know these stuff but hate it in a party setting. Will just stay at home. On a daily basis, feel free to do your rules or let's say you have a repair guy coming or a few friends then you can ask them to take their shoes off but also be considerate to give them disposable slippers. I personally do have foot ache when i walk barefoot on a marble or tile floor. I hate the cold feeling. You might also catch athlete's foot. And in a party setting, people wore their best and took time to dress up then at the end they will just be barefoot or wearing slippers?!?!

Growing up, going to other peoples houses I would immediately start taking off my shoes and when some one would say “oh, you can keep them on” I thought that was weird and that’s when I realized it was an unspoken rule at my house. However, when moved out of my parents house I definitely incorporated a ( very spoken) no shoe rule in my house and I do have slippers/socks or shoe covers if guests or the handyman prefers that. I wish you all would stop saying, “this is so American” as if all Americans wear shoes in the house 😒🙄Secondly, it’s just a simple difference in culture and ways of life. We don’t have a problem complying with your rules if you don’t allow shoes in your home, but you need to have something to put on my feet when I’m at your home because idk if your floors are clean or not. At least have disposable foot socks for guests to put over their shoes or on their actual feet so they can feel comfortable. That’s what I do. I learned that from experience. I had a friend who’s family does not allow shoes in the home, so I took my shoes off and end up with black feet. Therefore, if you’re gonna ask ppl to take off their shoes, have something for them to put on their feet…Since then I’ve invested in disposable socks and slippers. Got two big boxes of them stored in the laundry room entrance.

People be asking you to remove your shoes with no other options, while their floors are dusty and dirty. I'm the kind of person who never asks someone to do something if I don't give them an alternative to make them seelf comfortable. No one forced them to be in my house, therefore when I ask them to remove their shoes I always have to provide them with clean socks and slippers and be mindful to buy different sizes. I hate being barefeet or walking around only with my socks on, so I have to provide people with different options.

Why is it so uncomfortable for the host to ask?! It drives me crazy when you see how immaculate it is and walk right in. Makes me cringe😳

    I will respect house rules.
That said, I see both sides. It is much cleaner to leave shoes at the door. However, it's true lots of us do not want to walk around barefoot, especially in a house we're not accustomed to. If you're clumsy, you easily hit your toe or step on something. It's not good for the feet. Some of us are self-conscious as the ladies said, and sometimes the shoes are part of the outfit if there's a party. Some of my pants are literally the length for me to wear heels with them. So I just think it's nice to have shoe covers or give your guests a heads-up about house rules if they're new to your home. That way they can be sure to wear socks, get a pedicure, or whatever.

If you want that everyone inside your house follow YOUR rules of living just DONT INVITE PEOPLE 🤦🏻‍♀️ don’t ask that! That super rude and weird cause I don’t wanna see others people feet

I'm shocked whenever I watch American movies and they wear shoes inside the house; even going on the couch/bed with shoes. In Kenya, we remove them at the door including children

I’m 100% with Adrienne here. No shoes in my house but I’ll provide fresh socks, slippers, whatever need be but no outside shoes in my place.

I like the disposable shoe cover idea and will implement that when I get my own place. Its a win win for every one!
