  • A couple weeks ago I posted my initial setup videos for Daytona & Talladega for the Winston cup series on here. Between then and now I've played and completed the game released before it, NASCAR Heat 2002, and of course made Daytona & Talladega setups on there too, which I hope to have up tomorrow as I've already recorded & edited them. But I had to drastically change the setups on there compared to what I initially made on here first in order to achieve the results I got. So I figured I'd come back to this game and see if the changes I had to make for my Heat 2002 setups would benefit here as well. And low and behold it did, but only for the Winston cup cars for some reason. Could not for the life of me get anything more out of my Daytona trucks setup so there won't be an updated setup video for that. I'll be deleting my outdated Winston cup setup videos.
Ultimately compared to the truck series, I had to make some changes, especially to the final drive ratio. While the truck's peak power RPM was past 8,000, the Winston cup car prefers running way down around 6,000 RPM. That's good though since as a result of this, it can handle much more grill tape without the oil temperature climbing too high. Plus it should get better fuel mileage. Ran a best lap here of a 45.461 averaging 197.97 MPH with a top speed of 202 MPH (325 KM/H). Over 2 tenths faster than my now outdated setup, and also 1 MPH faster, and it handles better. The improvement over the default setup, compared to the truck series, isn't quite as much. I think mainly because in the truck series the default spoiler angle is at 55 degrees, whereas in the Winston cup car it already starts at the minimum setting of 45 degrees. My lap times to begin with here were somewhere in the 46s. Stay tuned for the updated Talladega setup.
