True, it’s a shame that AI wasn’t created that sophisticated that time when the game was made. It would just send very predictable waves of troops, still fun tho.
I did this. Quickly laid down stockpile squares, hovels, bought stone (didn't wait for it to fill) laid down barracks, armory, market and bought enough maces and leather for 25 macemen. Then I rushed piggy to the south. Pulled back remaining troops. Two towers + moat in the middle of the rock piles to the south, and one at the end of the path near Saladin to the SE. Moat at pass to the NW. Do not build any structures initially to the NW near the Wolf. This is so that he will not attack from that angle. Build all support structures to the far NE. Stay defensive and then build trebs to slowly seige Saladin from within you base. I usually build one tower to the NW, but out of range of Wolf, purely for more defense and to kill his farm plot in that corner. After Saladin starts to go down, place two more towers at the end of the rockpile and iron deposits. Kill Saladin and build a moat from the SE tower all the way the front of the two new towers. Build up supplies of stone, army, and engineers, and spam towers to the NW. Load the spam towers with archers, crossbowman, and a mix of mangonels and ballistas. Slowly blast Wolf in the NW with these towers. Easy from there.

Buy wood if needed and buy 40 maces and leather armours.. place barrack and make macemen as many as peasants available... send those macemen to break lionheart gatehouse.. no need to send 40 macemen together.. send them as and when you prepare them. While the macemen are travelling you need to place a square tower to defend yourself from caliph and put as many archers as you can.. its okay if you have 0 gold.. but troops are more important at the beginning than gold.. once you kill lionheart, you will get gold.. sell everything whatever is not needed early on and defend yourself.. crossbowmen preferably.. Till the last group of macemen reach.. the gatehouse would be almost broken... once the gatehouse is broken send all macemen that are left together upkeep to kill the king. You will atleast require 3 trys.
You can also you "bad things" to keep your production up so you can max out inn, church, and food, and right at the last minute when you've built up enough gold. Switch out to max "good things" and build your army, and overrun the enemy. Great tactic for multiplayer games as well. Especially if there is a peacetime.

@@aleksandarmarinkovic6456 Bit late reply, but no, you need to manually put the shields and the troops on the same place (group 1 shields group 2 archers) for example, if u put them all at once, the shields will stand outside and will pretty much not do anything
Finally did this mission, still havent done mission 33 tho. Tried rushing, but your tactic worked better cuz smt always went wrong when I tried to rush wolf and pig.
Just got'r done. Final mission is great. Positioning towers appropriately cripples Saladin, Pig, and Wolf, but the mission isn't exactly easy because Richard and Rat are constantly throwing waves of troops our way. Now on to the Warchest missions. I think I will install the Unofficial Patch for these ones.
you made it look easy. in my game the computer attack so fast. sent 30 cross bow + some bow men to the tower they got wiped out so fast. shields didn't help. don't even have time to build the wall to block them off.
You could have done this much faster. You got a little overexcited about your defense. Once you smashed Pig and Saladin, you could have deactivated half of those archers. Especially after you dug your moats.

I've noticed that you managed to have the date in-game be something like "Jan 0" or "May 5" instead of being somewhere like "May 2184." Is there a way to modify the date in the game? I would much prefer the method you're using instead of having myself reach Mission 50 before the year I was born, heheh.
Is it possible to beat such missions without shitty tactics like towering next to enemies' castles and throwing archers on them but to build a normal castle (more defensive i guess) and so on?
I have seen Comnputer players build Towers and walls on top of their units and those units getting on the wall instantly but I can't build over them. Is it possible to do that?
The easier way is you need to destroy pig village asap when u start the game with assassin, after it your village will be safe and free to take the stone and iron to build stong defence and army.
So the best way of NOT running out of food is by making bread? I usually use apple orchards, and I have to build more and more of them in order to not run out of food
One thing you did that I never considered in this last mission, is just turning down the game speed. I thought this was in fact the hardest mission, because it's the only mission I can't just spam horse archers and kill everybody. No matter how fast I was, I wasn't fast enough to build my defenses in time, before they eventually just picked me apart. I believe turning down the game speed for at least the first 15 minutes, is the only way to possibly beat it. You say it is easy, after being forced to play unconventionally slow to beat it, must not be THAT easy. Probably should of kept a few horse archers or macemen on the outside to take care of their artillery.
Also you give too much respect to Caliph. His pitch pits can be triggered with a small band of knights or marauding macemen. You also should have taken over the farmlands on the far right bottom of the map.
Hey Sergiu do you really think plains of autum is the hardest 1-50? I think Thunder Hill took me the longest. Took me like 10 tries to get started cuz that damn Lionhearts Catapults lol.
If you play Plains of Autum you will have a hard start and it will also be hard for you to develop and gather resources,it will take a lot of time. In Thunder Hill, if you get the beginning right,you are set for good. Indeed, Thunder Hill was hard for me too,but only the beginning. :)
I actually beat plains of autum first try. I guess my usual strategy was good for that stage. Yeah you're right about the start on Thunder Hill but its soooo annoying lol
Kinda but I weaken them with towers and magonals. I put them at the right distance and make them lock onto the lord and after about 10 minutes they're usually weakened enought to attack ha ha. Plus i would make a couple of fire balistas to catch the snake on fire then rush him.
Lol just finished it. My towers always got destroyed so I rectracted my castle so much the treasury was the furthest point, so no mengenel and no catapult can reach anything before my ballistas from the towers with 60 crossbowmen directly next to the treasury. 😀 No iron, no stone, I put down 4 wheatfarms 3 mills and 10 bakeries in that small place and got money from selling and eating bread. First I killed the wolf so he stopped bothering me from the side and I could focus on the main enterence which you just closed in the first seconds 😂
I don't ever remember the menu down below being so small. It filled the entire bottom of the scene. That bottom border is just weird looking to begin with.

In thunder hill, you can rush lionheart with 40 macemen.. they are enough

Do you want to have no annoying sieges happening?. Drop an ox tether on the enemy gatehouses or any opening that will lead to their castle.

Naphta fire throwers can too activate pitch pits in front of your advancing forces.. Tiny range, though.

No iron, no stone, I put down 4 wheatfarms 3 mills and 10 bakeries in that small place and got money from selling and eating bread. First I killed the wolf so he stopped bothering me from the side and I could focus on the main enterence which you just closed in the first seconds 😂

Strange thing but in 50 missions this trail there is no balance between dificulties
I don't ever remember the menu down below being so small. It filled the entire bottom of the scene. That bottom border is just weird looking to begin with.
+Knights2theEnd it's because of resolution, you can change it on your settings and you will see the difference, but i don't like it either :)
