I rode the “Discovery” from Belgian showman Stappers like 13 years ago, it was mental. Stappers was so skilled in operating this ride. He is known for selling and buying attractions every few years, always attractions with a special twist and fun to operate.
I went to a local park here in the UK and for that season they had one of these. My step brother and myself had each bought a wristband _for unlimited rides_ and spent most of the day on this ride. All good fun -- *Glad this series is back..!!*
Can I just say... I"m REALLY impressed with the improvement in quality on this video. Your narration audio (both in terms of how you speak and in actual quality) has improved dramatically. Very well done guys!
The KMG is exactly what you would expect from a KMG variation of this kind of ride, it is complete intense insanity that almost makes the original seem like a family ride
There were three Soriani and Moser Super Loop on Top rides in the US, they were named Crazy Flip (Conklin Shows), Flip ‘N’ Out (Reithoffer Shows) and Windshear (Mighty Bluegrass Shows). These were pre-Zamperla days. The Zamperla Windshear was named after the Mighty Bluegrass Shows model when Soriani and Moser split with Zamperla acquiring Soriani as a ride designer. I have rode all three of the Soriani and Moser Super Loop on Top rides in the US and I miss them.
Conklin toured in Canada as well, I remember being in queue for Crazy Flip in Winnipeg and wondering why the CRT monitor in the booth said "super loop on top". It was a really fun ride.
@@johnnylav i remember those monitors. Amazing for the time. I can’t remember though what it’s purpose was considering the degree of each arm and angle of the gondola would be on the control panel.
The Wind Shear and the Xtasy are, by far, my favorite rides. The Wind Shear I rode was at the Iowa State Fair in the US, and consisted of two rows of seats facing the same direction. The point of connection to the platform was under the back row of seats, creating a much more extreme ride for those in the front seats - the G-forces were enough for the restraints to leave bruises on my shoulders; it was great!
I regret being entirely too young for thrill rides the year my relatives took me to the Iowa State Fair, because I remember the Wind Shear looking *incredibly * intimidating. I also seem to remember it having its own theme song blasting out of the speakers, but I'm having a dickens of a time trying to find any evidence of it. (Mark that down as one of my lost media grails...)
We have one of these near me at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. Unfortunately ours doesn’t have the bending arms which makes it look so much more fun to ride
There is a Suspended Windshear called Wind Surf that appears at the State Fair of Texas and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It's insane and is run quite well. The best part is when they hold you while inverted at the top and tease you with water jets.
Correction: There is / was a predecessor model of Mondial's Roll Over called Hurricane (M.Y. 1991). It basically does the same thing but doesn't flip completely over. The last known (that i know) operated in Särkänniemi from 1991 till 2018 or -19.
I'm Australian, snd I have a few things to add. Firstly, it's DreamWorld, not Dreamland. Second the Wipeout was a tonne of fun, but even a few years into operation, the mechanical shark in the water stopped operating, and on the last ride, the whole mechanism felt much more rough, you could feel it shaking a little every time it started a new motion and the arms and axles must have loosened over time.
Didn't a super loop on top operate at Six Flags New Orleans? Before that it was at Morey's piers and then was taken to Six Flags New Orleans where it was called Lex Luther's invertatron, it's still standing rotting away there to this very day.
if u want to try this kind of rides, u can come to Dufan (Dunia Fantasi) located at Jakarta, Indonesia, they have same ride name Tornado, it is a one of favorite rides, u can come to the park for only currently $15-$20 ticket price
In indonesia, they have one that have 2 bending arm. Its on dufan jakarta, indonesia, exepct now the ride dont bend anymore because one of the machine exploded and theres many accident of it being stuck while the ride is bending.
I've ridden both the classic and the floorless Discovery, the first ("Nightstyle" of German showman Armbrecht) had a much more intense cycle with many flips in a row and very abrupt accelerations - it was crazy. But the latter one, "Pacific Rim" (operated by Zinnecker, seen at 5:19) wasn't bad either :)
I ride one but the operation was automatic and it din't flip at all lol, still pretty fun tbh, also there was a Soriani and Moser version i think, one is called Terminator and the other one viking show, probably i'm wrong cause i don't know if they are from that company
I rode the WipeOut at Dreamworld (I think you accidentally said 'Dreamland') many times & had to laugh when you mentioned them being _very_ noisy because that's exactly what I remember most about it! LOL You could hear that thing clear across the park, and it would feel weird if they'd closed it for a few hours because you'd become so desensitised to the _'vvvvVVOOOOMMMM'_ it would make with every swing!
Here's my current wishlist for future FROTW videos (unchanged from last week): Matterhorn / Flying Bobs & Trabant / Hully Gully - these were mentioned in a previous video, and I look forward to seeing them. . Round Up Rainbow / 1001 Nacht Paratrooper Flipper Orbiter Whip Miami 'Cuddle-Up' (basically an 'n'th-degree teacup ride) ... I'll never forget the in-the-dark "Iceberg" at Dorney Park
Really awesome content 👍 Seems like there is no extensive video about the Waagner Biro Magic Arms (Flying Circus) on UA-cam yet. A Flatride of the Week video featuring this obscure flatride would be so cool :)
I got to ride king chaos at six flags great america which was a top spin I believe and it was AWSOME!!!!!!! lot of broken days but it was Awsome when I got to ride it. It was unfortunately removed in 2017 or 18 I don"t remember and was replaced by mardi gra"s hangover which is a great ride but I prefer king chaos even though it was bad mechanically which I understand why it was removed
Why do English speakers pronounce Mondial as Mon-da-il instead of Mon-di-al?!?!? Still nice to see video's on these rides, the Roll-Over from Snep was an epic machine!
Ah, found out that the verb dial is pronounced that way and therefor we have the mon-dial pronunciation . . . Mondial in my opinion reffers to world or global and therefor should be pronounced as mon-di-al :-)
@@rene7975 You'll find that English speakers who are exposed to languages like French & Italian will tend to pronounce it with 3 syllables _Mon-di-al..._ also those of us who know of the famous jewellers or motorcycle company or Ferrari Mondial 😉 But some English speakers, particularly Americans, tend to read it as 2 syllables - _Mon-dial_ - because 'dial' is a recognisable English word. Just depends what you're used to!
that dreaded D word... discontinued! companies should keep the legacy of these bending arm machines and still produce them! but also!!!.... (very important) deliver them to the UK, we never get the all the cool rides! at least, not enough of them anyway.
I love the concept of these videos but I hate there are two people telling us info and the 2nd person sounds like they are talking on a Xbox 360 mic with their head in a barrel...
these ride look so similar to a ride that was at charleston one year, i believe it was called hard rock. here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/7qY4aa7TJU0/v-deo.html i rode it that year. it hasnt returned since then.
you guys produce awesome content - thanks so much for that. If I may add to this - I didn't see this covered here : I believe there is another version of rollover existing which has fixed arms but can still rotate them independently due to a flexible hinge in the gondola. One of them is traveling in Germany and it's called Nightstyle: ua-cam.com/video/0e9VP47xCyk/v-deo.html

@@CoasterCollege very unique and fun for sure. To ride all three that were in the US for me was an achievement.

Me neither. I'm going to go with my hunch that it was there solely to entertain my teenaged nerd self for several seconds for a few years in a row.

There was one at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa. and at the Bloomsburg Fair, Pa.
Love this ride!!

I remember when i was young at Tusenfryd in norway and a handicaped guy fell out of the «roll over». The ride was closed/shut down after that

A Moser loop on top comes to my city's fair every year. It's called Top Gun, there are quite a lot of videos of it on youtube

Corrention needed at 1:00, its dreamworld as a heads up, not dreamland just wanted to clear that up
These look pretty intense
Thay used to have 1 of these at Kings Island. It was an indoor ride called Tomb Raider.
You are thinking of the Top Spin, very similar rides. We covered that ride here: ua-cam.com/video/jgvk8U1Py_w/v-deo.html
DREAMLAND BAHAHAHAHAHA lost it !!!! lol I loved the wipe-out at dreamworld !! was one of my favorite rides

What model was the Crypt at KD?
I rode a Zamperla Windshear called Windsurf at the OC Fair 2 times. I believe its the only ride of its kind in the U.S.
Nice, I hope I can ride it someday!
The one in my home park got removed in 2019
do a video on the hurricane/rambazamba models,downdrafts,hurricanes,saturn 6s etc
I saw on your Instagram that you were accepted at BGSU for Resort and Attraction Management. could you make a video talking about that program?
There are plenty of official BGSU videos highlighting the program, I can send you some if you are interested.
Mr. Schäfers Old Flying Machine ❤
1:01 it’s dreamworld, close enough tho!
KMG Discovery is nice, sadly they don’t travel in the Netherlands anymore :(
They look great, wish I got to ride one.
I was never game to ride Wipeout for fear of vomiting. To be fair I haven't been to Dreamland since my teen years
Wipeout was my favourite ride when I went to the gold coast.
Pretty much a top spin if they had arms that bended
I have riden a 2e version kmg discovery. They’re fun!
