Lyrics:
Lucy Liu
With my girl, Drew
Cameron D. and Destiny
Charlie's Angels, come on
Uh, uh, uh
Question, tell me what you think about me?
I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings
Only ring your celly when I'm feelin' lonely
When it's all over please get up and leave
Question, tell me how you feel about this?
Try to control me boy, you get dismissed
Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills
Always 50/50 in relationships
The shoes on my feet (I bought it)
The clothes I'm wearing (I bought it)
The rock I'm rocking (I bought it)
'Cause I depend on me if I want it
The watch I'm wearing (I bought it)
The house I live in (I bought it)
The car I'm driving (I bought it)
I depend on me (I depend on me)
All the women, who independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys, who making money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas, who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies, who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Tell me how you feel about this
Do what I want, live how I wanna live
I worked hard and sacrificed to get what I get
Ladies, it ain't easy being independent
Question, how'd you like this knowledge that I brought?
Bragging on that cash that he gave you is to front
If you're gonna brag, make sure it's your money you flaunt
Depend on no one else to give you what you want
The shoes on my feet (I bought it)
The clothes I'm wearing (I bought it)
The rock I'm rocking (I bought it)
'Cause I depend on me if I want it
The watch I'm wearing (I bought it)
The house I live in (I bought it)
The car I'm driving (I bought it)
I depend on me (I depend on me)
All the women, who independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys, who making money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas, who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies, who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Destiny's Child, what's up?
You in the house? Sure 'nuff
We'll break these people off Angel style
Child of Destiny
Independent beauty
No one else can scare me
Charlie's Angels, woah
All the women, who independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys, who making money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas, who profit dollars
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies, who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Girl, I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that?
Lol here bc somebody on TikTok said 2025 sounds like the beginning of this song and I forgot how much I liked this version 😂
SAME lmao and had to bump it
No fr tho
I prefer part 1
OMG ME
Same 🤣
Same
Couldn’t tell my young self NOTHING when this came on
ME TOO 😂😂🤣😙🤣
@@god563616 had my neck rolling and the finger wagging singing in my room to my radio to a non existent boy giving his ass a good laying out 😁😁😁💀💀💀💀😁😁.
Me & my cousins used to blast that album all the time. & My mom got salty when my boy cousin was with me & his sister singing this lol.
Same 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
this track clowns on how financially dependent I am
This song was ahead of it's time.
I love this version. It sounds so fun and makes you want to dance.
Got the cartoon effects in the background. My fav too.
Produced by Rapture Stewart & Eric Seats who also produces a lot of songs on Aaliyah's last album.
Me too ❤
Im scared and confused of this version
@@CRISFILMMno fr i feel like mickey mouse is behind me with a knife
This and Nasty Girl, by far my favorites on this album
I don't care how much criticism this gets. It's experimental and I love it. People talk about the cartoon sample but don't discuss the melody of the verses sound like 'Entrance of Gladiators'.
My 10y.o self looooved this song,it reminded me of looney tunes. Like the BGM of Sylvester chasing tweety
I thought I was the only one (and I was ten YO as well)! This version is so cartoony, and it's a toe-tapper. 😊
Me three! I was also 10 yrs old and this song made me think of Bugs Bunny 😂
It's actually the intro to a cartoon🔥
Can somebody bring this era of music back pleasssssse!!!! They talkin bout gettin the bag minus the showcasing and vulgarity.....
Omg yes!! 🙌🏾💃🏾
If I start making music , I would definitely do that !!!
you need time machine 😅
@@sodeyroth9611WE ALL DO! This current "music" ain't it.
Y’all so blinded by nostalgia its actually sad
the opening alone sounds kinda funny i like it
Sample is "Theme to Peabody's Improbable History (Version 1)" by Frank Comstock.
Love the looney tune vibe
it gave me flintstones back in the day.. I love this song.
The vocals on the bridge are harmonized so well. The layers of head voice & lower to higher register is beautiful.
Idc what anybody says, this version slaps too!!!!
Right
This song is just an overall masterpiece & goes so hard to this day! Especially the second verse with those production sounds SHEESH😮💨
Heavy on the "Do them boyz how they used to do you"
They killed that doo wop melody in the background. Damn near sounds like the Supremes.
Right!!
This is the better version!! It bangs!! No one can tell me otherwise!!! :-)
Ugh the nostalgia! The way I used to play this song out !
This song is why im a diva to this day
Still bangs in 2025
This song is still outta this world.... Voices ✨🥳🥳
Independent women pt 2 >>> pt 1
Fun Fact: This was supposed to be the ORIGINAL version of the song
It was the original, recorded in late April of 2000 in Honolulu Hawaii. Final version was recorded in June and July 4 (vocals) in Houston.
I didn't know that! WOW
I’m glad it ended up NOT being the final version lol
@@craigjones1946 Me too
I tell people this all the time.
I miss when the girls used to talk about getting your own bag and not begging and depending on a man to finance your life. This is way more aspirational than tricking off a man for a bag
But this same group sings “Cater 2 U” tho lmfaoooooooo
i LOVE this version!
This soundtrack came late 90 to early 2000 and I still love it💖
2001
what a crazy track!
Eric Seats & Rapture Stewart- Key Beats production.
I really wish this could have been the lyrics for the first part of the song, and this to the beat of the first song. I am. independent. no Charlie needed in my story.
Better version hands down 🗣🗣🗣
this is an under rated jam
So I've only just heard this version now 2020
they basically called y'all clowns in so many different ways
The melody of the verses is the circus theme, go figure!
Still my fave ladies and jam. 🎉❤
Why dose the intro sound familiar like it’s from a classic cartoon show
Because it is
Sherman and Peabody Improbable History intro from The 60’s cartoon.
I love this version better than Part 1.
Nostalgic..
shit music
❤❤❤ love this Beyoncé really telling the truth about be independent my favorite song on this album
This is a bop
Still play this from time to time
wow. i never knew this version existed
This song was originally Part I
pt 2 was the original and pt 1 was a remix but it was so popular they used it as the main version
@@aydenlucas8904 I know that and I just said that this song was originally part 1
yep😊
This was recorded in late April 2000 in Honolulu while opening for Britney Spears. In June 2000 the instrumental for the soundtrack version was produced and recorded by DC3 + Farrah, on July 4, 2000. Farrah left weeks later.
Cherished memories of this song in my childhood ❤🎉
I can’t believe people really pay this album dust. whew, the delusion. Every DC album🔥🔥🔥👏🏽
Shout to Rap Critic for making me aware of this masterpiece
This album came out my Junior year of high school and it stayed on repeat......the entire album
I had all the business at 5 years old playing this in my pink hello kitty cd player!!!! 😂❤
For some reason my brain told me this music was Dexter’s Laboratory
Finally!!!
Fun Fact: This was the Original Independent Women Pt.1, but they went ahead with Pt.2 Remix which is now known as Pt.1
I never understood why there was a part 2 to this
This was actually the original version of the song, and PT.1 was a remix until it blew up and gained traction
Back in the days (90s) songs had remixes. This is another way to say remix.
@@amarerearden Im glad that became part 1 because this one is garbage
its the same song.. just a different beat... a lot of their songs had pt 2 and one even had pt 3... go back and look ...
This was originally part 1 but the people at Charlie’s angels didn’t like it so they made another version
This is my favorite Destinys Child song ever...I do love them all though. So much talent.xoxomarianne
p.s.imma always be an independent woman😊😎🎵💖🥰
Lmfaoo the beat
who’s here because they saw a tiktok video😂
Girl, me that beat is disgusting, but they slid tho, lol
Lol. Clock me.
Me
Me 😂😂
Me😭😭
I seen an interview with Beyoncé and she said she wrote this in 10 or 11 minutes
Sounds like it
@@tspopstar512 I literally was about type the same thing!
Its Nell Bell
Ok. Lady GaGa wrote her first song, “Just Dance” in 10 minutes.
@@official_ravemusiccharts Who cares
I think Beyonce was trolling with this song.
The message is clear ☺️💅
The beginning sounds like Willy Wonka
It’s from the intro to rocky and bowinkle. A 1960’s show
Beyoncé is an Icon 👏
Peabody and Sherman's opening parade marching to this.
Wasn’t a fan of this song to begin with, but it’s grown on me ❤
2024?
This the best version in my opinion. Like if you agree! Side note real fans know this version lol
Same
👌👌👌👌👌clocking ittttt
This version being song by an independent woman is crazy 😂
Love this song so much 😻
Farrah franklin vocals
This has always been my favorite song but people crap on it cause of the beat like what?
My favorite
The intro reminds me of Looney Tunes
It's from Peabody's Improbable History.
I love ❣️✨
They was warning us and we wasnt listening.
Imagine downloads from Limewire and you hear the intro to this song for the first time 😅
"What the...? Did MF DOOM produce this?"
-Rap Critic upon discovering this song's existence and hearing this beat
OMG! What is going on?? THEY ARE COMING!!!
I really see the vision Beyoncé this version slaps 😂
Love it 🎉
Rocky and Bullwinkle
There were a lot of parts to divide between members in this song too bad they didn't make it dynamic
Do y'all hear the other members? Cause I feel like there's a lot of vocal layering going on from one person
That opening is cheesy asl even for 2001 pop music standards. It’s hilarious😂
🐷"That's all folks!"
I thought I was the only one that thought it sounded like looney tunes
Peabody: "Quiet you...!"
All you hear is Beyoncé 😂😂
That’s because this is the original and Matthew pitched it to Sony behind Beyoncé’s back for Charlie’s Angels. The song was reworked to a more refined version known as Independent Women pt. 1.
Yeah what about Kelly and Michelle
Yes, that's how things were 😂😂😂 you must be new to Destiny's Child. B's parents only cared about her succeeding. She was a product to them, and they sold the heck out her.
Lol
@@SHANAYABuckery-hn8mgthey’re all doing the background vocals on the bridge including Farrah
The first time ever hearing this the beat is not giving lol
Carmen a hip hopera brought me here. What about you?
This is my first time hearing this song. I was wondering if it was a joke
💗
Tiec Tocc 🍪🍫🍮🍯
Is this a new song🥰
This came out in 2001
You know those Drake memes that make him seem like a cartoon character? This just sounds like that to me.

Lol I see what the TikTok guy was talking about. 😂
OMGGGGG
Like if you’re here from the TikTok video 😂
No wonder the first part was the only one I was shown...
This song was on their Survivor album along with Part 1.
This remix is good and the remix was actually meant to be the original
I feel this song 💯 but I ain't no pimp... I am my number one priority. I learned that junk QUICK. Nigga will leave you homeless wit 2 kids in a heartbeat....
❤️
😂👑😂Aye..........!
I'm so sorry but the instrumental is so goofy 😭
You just don’t understand and it’s ok.
Its brilliant and fun!!
You can hear Farrah
🤐🤭
Can you? 🤣 I thought she was only featured in independent women part 1. But I guess 😭
Am 🚢🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶😘🖤🍸
[Verse 1]
What you think about a girl like me?
Got my own car and spend my own money
Only ring your celly when I'm feelin' lonely
When it's all over, please get up and leave
[Pre-Chorus]
Please don't call me, baby
'Cause I'll call you
Don't mean to hurt you feelings, got a lot to do
'Cause I am my number-one priority
No fallin' in love, no commitment from me
[Chorus]
All my independent women
Throw them hands up at me
And all my sexy women
Throw them hands up at me
All my money-making women
Throw them hands up at me
All my baller women
Throw them hands up at me
[Post-Chorus]
If you feel it
Throw them hands up
Where them hands at?
If you feel it
Where the ladies?
Where my homegirls?
Where my females?
Where my women?

If you ain't in love, I congratulate you
Do them boys like they used to do you
If you pimp them, I congratulate you
