My mom used to tell me that it doesn’t matter your speed, you’re still running laps around the people on the couch. And just this past weekend I ran my first half-marathon at a 12:00 min/mile pace and it feels awesome. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can not accomplish!
@@mehaslimediseasebs2421 Not true at all. Many runners can run a 19-20 minute 5k, but even going slow 10 miles is a struggle. 13 miles is really impressive
@obiwankenobi117 many runners can't do a 19-20 5k, what you're saying is untrue, it's way way way harder than you think. however i do agree that people shouldnt discredit huge accomplishment. even a 5k at 12:00, is still a 5k. you're doing something positive with your life and having fun and celebrating this accomplishment which is good.
Alright you may have convinced this ex-dancer to go on a run Monday 👀 I appreciate the comment about how running slow was the best way to get distance starting out!
@@haleypham hi I have a question are you related to Mai Pham since you guys have the same last name she is Canadian are you Canadian or American I’m Canadian I’m from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦
as someone struggling to get things together recently, this video was incredibly comforting and motivational at the same time. the whole structure of the video served such a good purpose in firstly, showing that you can do something as long as you put your mind to it. and secondly, that it is going to take time, patience and effort to complete what you want to do. gambatte Haley! hope to see your race update any day now!
I honestly love when Ryan is in your videos! It’s so sweet to see you guys interact ❤ also in so proud of you for taking on this challenge! I can barely run 1 mile without passing away 😅
thank you for the REALNESS in this video! not doing the PM runs sometime, leaving the house in uggs, etc. it’s great motivation and helps us understand everyone’s human, even though we (your girlypops) look up to you!
lmao she went through a lot of things a runner experiences in just a week, showing up to the run without trainers, done that, saying "yeah imma just recover today" and then still running, definitely done that, and then not being able to tell if the pain is just pain that will go away or a potential injury is very relatable I run into that a bit too
I’m so grateful that God has led me to your channel, Haley. You are hands down my favorite and most comforting UA-camr, and have not only encouraged me to get back into reading, but now you have also inspired me to incorporate running into my weekly routine. Thank you! ❤
I love your mindset throughout this whole video. As a runner sometimes I feel like I failed and just give up on a training plan if I miss a run or don’t do a run as far or as fast as planned. I love that you didn’t push yourself too far and also that you kept going even if you missed a run or took a rest day.
It's great to see you go from mostly walking to running! I have been told that running actually gets easier for people in their 20-40s! I've been running more too and it's a great way to improve mental health and build confidence!
This is what i love sm about you Haley , you never make me feel bad for being human , your real and the way you always still try is inspiring . Sm love !

Haley! I just wanted to say every time I come to your channel your always growing and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. You allow me to see how things take time, but results occur. I love how you are always challenging yourself and looking for ways to grow. It’s really inspiring ♥️ keep being you especially with the books omgosh hopefully I can reach that level of reading one day.
The fact that I had your channel already opened and this is the first thing that I saw when I unlocked my phone 😃 honestly relationship goals, both of y'all are too cute
As a distance runner who has injured their knee really badly before I am dying inside watching you attempt to run through knee pain. There is no way this ends well.
I personally have been running as a competive high school athlete for around 3 years now, and I always just run through pains like this. I know isn’t a good idea, but I still haven’t gotten seriously injured somehow.
Wow this is the first video of yours that I see and I just so happen to be training for my first half marathon! As someone who also struggled to run more than a mile in the past I totally understand your shock when you fell in love with running. There's something so addictive and rewarding about pushing yourself and accomplishing a challenge!
I totally relate to what you last said about having 0 background in something but being able to go through it and get better. I used to be someone who hated being active and hated running but I took a shot at cross country and I’ve found my passion. Running is for life.
Haley's videos are always really motivating. She motivates me to read, to learn how to cook and bake and now to start running (as a soccer player I need to get back into the habit but I've been slacking lol)
You can just tell how much she loves and respects Ryan and when he looks at her u can see the love in his eyes I just love these videos when they both in it
I was surprised by your husband's running credentials and background. Seriously Impressed. I never knew he was such an avid runner and ran for a D1 school. That's really awesome. I have much more respect him now that I know he was a runner, and an amazing one at that. I wish to be as fast as (or faster than) him one day and to hopefully run in college as well (I'm a sophomore in HS.) I can't imagine what it's like to run 90 MILES IN 1 WEEK!!! THAT'S LIKE A HALF MARATHON EVERY DAY!!! Anyways, keep up the good work and don't stop running. 👍
I really love watching you🥺 You inspire me to move out of my comfort zone! I always watch you when I need a little motivation to get something done. Love you, Haley💕💕
running is great I actually just ran my third half marathon yesterday! once you do a race you always crave more :) that will be so fun, a nice comfortable pace is the best!
The snail at the end LEGIT made my day. Snails and slugs are tied as my second favorite animal, and I haven't been able to see them in person for a while because of where I live right now.
Great work. As a cross country coach I will just say that some of my best runners are former dancers. dancing builds the achilles and ankles like no other sport and those are REALLY important for running. It takes an untrained athlete 8-12 months to build ankle and achilles strength for running you already have that strength!
The ending had me laughing, I would love to start running but I don't have a treadmill I also have toddlers which makes going for a run difficult, my husband is usually working long hours so yeah, maybe one day I can start!!
even 5 minutes of running is a good start! it doesn’t need to be super long, if you don’t have the time. i use the nike run club and it makes it super easy bc i can just pick whatever time can work into my schedule.

You prolly won't see this - but your knees crash in pretty hard when you run so to keep healthy if you plan on building up mileage you should do things like SL RDLs and SL Squats through varying ranges of motion to build the glute support it will take to not get hurt as you build mileage (as a dancer Those ranges of motion should be easy but the repetition will stress you a bit)
When you said you were getting addicted to running it made me happy knowing someone finally gets it. All my friends consider running a punishment and tell me im wasting my time with cross country and football is better but the people who hate running will never get that feeling when you beat your last time
Im a dancer and I know you dont anymore but when you dance you loosen your muscles, when you run you tighten your muscles. Like you said at the beginning the pain could be coming from the difference in training. Love your vids btw!
