You guys are missing the point... this phone is made for the people who like the simple phones from the past, but it comes with some features from these days (like the 4G and the camera). It's targeted to them. Because there's people who dont like smartphones (they think they are too complicated for them). That's why this NOKIA is great for them - basic phone with basic camera, 4G (so you can check the forecast for example) and some google apps that can get you into the present days, so you can learn how to browse the internet, how to watch videos on youtube and so on. That's the target group of people for this phone. EDIT: Also you CANT expect to have even average camera! The audio is made just to be loud so you can hear when someone calls you. Basically its for old people who dont like new tech, but want a simple cell phone.... Even the 4G is a lot :D
I don't think this phone is for seniors. Smartphones can be of use to seniors. This phone requires fast typing, it has small keys and the browsing is veteran stuff. There are some people who are fed up with smartphones. It seems phones like this are designed for them.
I disagree. For this use, there are phones that costs 20 bucks. There’s no reason to have 4g and wifi without a messaging app like whatsapp. I don’t care about facebook etc, but come on. i want 3 things. A browser, a mail client and a messaging app. I don’t care about camera and speakers.
I have one (black also), they really need to fix the laggy contact app. Things that were not mentioned in this review: *It can import contacts from Google contacts or Outlook *It has WiFi hotspot *You can't talk with the slider closed because it will end the call *You can kill some time making it spin on the table :-)
Typing is also garbage, I can't type a single normal i"i" I always get one with two dots. Also space ends up as zero most of the time. And pushing the delete button to fast deletes your whole message. Now you can rewrite that whole message for the third time! Don't remember my dumber, older phones being that annoying to type on... And forgot, also garbage games that were suddenly installed without permission, not being able to get rid of them...
Fewer social media apps means less time staring at the screen like a zombie and more time paying attention to the world around you. Plus having a "unique" phone is a conversation starter... So you can talk to more real people instead of trolls on Twitter.
I just bought this. I was really inclined to get the yellow but just couldn't bring myself to it,plus the black looks pretty slick. I get it Tuesday, I will make a video :)
Look fellas. Cool phone if you truly want just the basic functions. Due to the lack of technology I couldn't make a video (jk) I realized I wasnt ready to give up the perks of a smart device but more or less have limited myself . I returned the device not only for these reasons but also because the provider I would have to switch to in order to use this phone would cost me the same amount as I'm currently paying for my smart phone and the service would not work well in my area. Sorry for the lack of video but that is my review. Thanks :)
I've got one, have using it on daily basis, left my smartphone home. And love it. I can read mail, take phone calls, send and receive texts. That's essentially what I need while I'm at work and out. It is liberating.
"You can only shoot in one orientation, so you have to turn it sideways to get a landscape photo." Isn't this true on all phones with cameras though? And for that matter, all cameras?
Most early phones had their cameras mounted horizontally, not vertically, so you could hold the phone vertically and still get a horizontal photo. Of course, that's before the VVS kicked in.
I've had my 8110 for a few weeks now and it's perfect for me. I've never wanted, never had, and never will have a smart phone or a contract, so to find a phone that offers me 4G and Wifi calling (on Pay&Go but that is nothing to do with the phone) is tremendous. And this is my first phone with a camera so the fact that it's "only 2 megapixel" is completely irrelevant. It exceeds by far all featurephones I've owned to date, and the sound quality is exceptional. And I can pick up my email too. Highly recommended.

I am using the 8110 purchased Singapore for about a month now, and very happy with it. I got this device for my voice call sim card only with data switched off and the phone Battery lasts for over two days with medium heavy voice usage. I have my data on android smartphone whose Battery does not survive more than 12 hours and drops to under 30% with data on and all the background apps sucking up juice to maintain always on data connection when not using home wifi... In other words this phone is a great device for your primary sim where voice connectivity is important and data usage can be offloaded to a secondary sim card.
Are there other 4G feature phones to choose from? 4G effects the quality of the voice call, so I need it, but I'm looking for a simple talk/text option. The fact that this has Google Assistant is awesome.
I like the concept of a phone like this, and I think reviving classic designs is definitely a great idea for Nokia to set themselves apart from other phone manufacturers. However, I think I'd want a little bit more out of this phone. Maybe there isn't a huge market for this, but I think I'd really love something between a feature phone and a smartphone. Take this phone and give it better build quality, a bit faster processor, a little bit more storage (or just let me use a 64GB or 128GB SD card), and price it at $199. The BLU Vivo Air was a pretty darn good phone that sold for $199 and that was a full-blown Android smartphone, so it should be doable. I don't need (or even really want) full-blown Android, just the smartphone basics (like UA-cam, navigation, web browsing, etc). If they could offer that and address all of those issues mentioned in the video (nicer feel, nicer screen, better durability, smoother slider, no lag between apps), then I'd gladly pay a small premium for a high-end feature phone that is unique and functional. Durability in particular is an absolute necessity, especially since that was a hallmark of those old Nokia models. They just last so much better than modern phones, I don't understand why this phone can't bring that quality back.
Aw, I miss having Nokias. The 8800 was my last, and favorite. Wish they would remake it, but with modern components and applications. Stainless steel. Ugh, I miss it.
It's amazing how a tech review can miss the point so badly. This isn't a smartphone, wasn't trying to be, and it is cheap. Expecting iPhone build quality and support is outlandish and off base. Everything that was discussed as a negative about this phone in this review is, in reality, the positives.
The fourth day to use this new phone. The unusual good-looking bright yellow colour actually balanced out the dullness of a small non-touch screened feature phone. The sliding cover added a sense of delicacy to the phone even though the phone is made by polycarbonate. Glad to have google supporting the phone, we get google assistance, google search, google map and google contact sync. These guarantee one can survive in the city in this modern day. The number pad also became more solid, more independent, and more certain when using it longer and more. But I hope the phone can provide side volume adjustment keys, perhaps a better quality screen, and more personalization options for the homescreen shortcut keys, and homescreen display. Also, the screen and its peripheral is covered by a plastic-looking glass, I wonder if it can look more solid and strong. Nowadays, its hard to get and use a good feature phone with good support of internet and google service, as a good touch-screen android phone can be cost for only $110. And people usually feel strange and uncomfortable when they see people still carry a feature phone around. This phone has provided an opportunity for us, the minority, to live a different lifestyle defying a strong societal norm.
I think the review totally misses the point of the "dumb phone". Some people just want a functional, practical way of disconnecting from smart phone addiction. I assume (although I'm not sure this is true) that this is why there is a rise in popularity on these Nokia phones. There is a minimalist market.
Dude , the phone is awesome!!! Its actually a feature phone not a smart phone. For the generation who grew up with this kind of cell phones and not a smart one , if you have a life and you don't care about the social media bullshits or internet (because for sure you have internet at home) then this phone is the ideal. However , when you are not home it means that you have to do something and there is not any reason to have a portable computer with you. If you really need to be connected on internet 24h then this phone is not for you. If your profession ends when you leave your jobs area then you are gonna love this phone. Calls , messages , radio , snake and nothing more...Just enjoy the simplicity !!!
First of all get a haircut. Second of all you are completely missing the point. You are comparing it from the perspective of current generation smart phones. This phone is made for people who like simple phones. It serves its purpose without a drag.
Revisited new thoughts from me... I'm considering this as my lifestyle has changed drastically... If I'm away from home, I'm either working, driving or shopping... That's it! No time for socials or watching anything! I need a phone to make calls and send/recieve texts, The End! I'm surrounded in my smart home with ALL the crap from the 21st century (4 iPads, smart tv, lights, speakers and gaming), and I love it! Kidz today, have a phone bigger than my fist TV lol!!! I own the original Matrix Nokia, and I love this idea 5 years down-the-line!!!
I've been using a Samsung GT - C3520 for 6 years (flip phone with limited internet capabilities, sd card slot, headphone jack) and other than calls and messages, I've been playing music on it. Just today I saw this phone and I think it woulld be a good update since my old one's turning off randomly. I have used a smartphone but I like having a basic phone just for calls, sms and music. Good review but yeah, "smart phone perspective".
I've recommended this to people that want a non-smartphone with modern connectivity. Plus, it's under $100. The sound did seem too bad, and the picture looked pretty good.
This phone enables some of the best most emersive apps available such as family life, socializing with genuine human beings and not having a phone 10 inches from your face every waking second. This review is ligit pathetic
Every summer I go for a camping for a week or two - no electricity or anything, just nature... And now I am looking and these feature phones only because they have amazing battery. All I need for this phone to be able to is to do calls and to have whatsapp to have a communication with the rest and of course a great battery since it needs to stay alive for a week or two on one charging. Currently have OnePlus 6T which dies within a day or two, and I dont want to be left without any possible communication when camping so this phone (or phone similar to this one) would be perfect for me.
thanks brother for making this video...here is my experience with this phone I purchased Nokia 8110 4g but it's network connectivity is very poor and it's hotspot connectivity disappointing.. sometimes connected sometimes Disconnected automatically..I got fed-up with this phone because of Hotspot and network issue..plz check all before buying friends..time is urs money is urs... thik twice before ... good luck.
I’m looking for a dumb-phone to replace many years of iPhones. The thing is, that I want to be able to write text messages without the old style three-letters-and-a-number-per-button thing. No need for colour screen, games, apps or a camera, just a very easy to use device for calls and messages and a decent keypad. Any suggestions?
Ok I am 49 so not exactly over the hill. Yet I can still remember a time when I wasn't tied to my phone. I am as guilty as anyone at pulling the smart phone out at times I really shouldn't. Checking it when I really don't need to. Think I have hit a wall with smartphones and the one shop stop in my pocket. It's time to have a phone only function to carry around. Check my emails on a separate device twice a day and get some space. This will be perfect for a smartphone holiday for a while. I will probably miss the ease of browsing, internet banking etc but I have to try.
I am wondering if Nokia might release a 5G version of Nokia 8110. If so, I hope they will use better materials like the ones made for mid-range and flagship smartphonese, making it more durable, scratch-proof and also have a much smoother or spring mechanism. Also, are there any new software updates for KaiOS and for the KaiOS phones? From what I heard, you can use WhatsApp for KaiOS phones. That would be great. Hopefully, there will also be supports for e-hailling apps and e-wallets.
The storage could be somewhat bigger, the camera is alright as a picture notebook but a better one would not cost much more, and there should be a decent messenger app. Otherwise, I have not much to complain on the technical side. It should (almost) meet the intended market, with a little room for improvement. But the build quality? A slide cover operating by simple plastic friction, a soft and scratchy screen, that's not necessary. Because we don't need a 6 inch display does not mean we only need a turd.
Bought this phone couple of months ago. Still waiting for the Whatsapp app they promised. Also, the "app store" is about 5 apps and some games. Haven't seen anything new in there for months.
@@AB-td5oo I am as well. I don't get why a lot of the comments I read about the phone talk about it being much worse than a smartphone, because it is not! I'm thinking about getting one as a back-up phone, and might even consider getting a second line (a prepaid one) and keep both phones.
I am looking for a simple phone with NO touch screen, just call. sms and decent camera. dont mind simple google maps, but no other distractions please. How good is the camera on this one? And any other recommendations?
Bruh... You got ripped off, I got it for 3,299. I also saw, I guess, the non 4g version, which is 2999 or less depending on which seller you get it from.

I think you were born after the Nokia symbian era..We never wanted twitter or crapper in phones. We wanted it to communicate and play snake.. nothing less nothing more..I'm gonna buy this for my parents for sure.
I just want to know if the reception is good. The 3310 I bought was terrible for receiving calls and I had to return to a smart phone, when all I want is to make calls and text..
Thanks for the review but I think it's pointless comparing it to a smartphone as people would buy this for it's simplicity. I work in technology but I'm considering buying one as I'm tired of being joined at the hip with a smartphone. Message, Talk, Music is all I want any more and occasionally Google Maps. If I want to take a photo I'll use my camera
So a feature phone is not a smartphone? Missing the point much? Thanks for the quality review though. The lid really seems bad and makes me reconsider.
Don't get it, reviewer says no social media apps but Twitter - but the box has the Facebook logo (check out the unboxing sequence), and other comments on here indicate it's got WhatsApp...This review was published today so they're talking about up to date firmware. So is SM selection determined by region, or what?
gorpalm1 WhatsApp support is yet to be announced, but it's coming in short future. For Facebook, I think that is supported. For future updates you should check Nokia Mobile Twitter page or Support page.
The purpose isn't for this phone to be just like a smartphone. It doesn't need the same tech or programming. I want it to get away from phone dependency.

Lol people dont feel "strange and uncomfortable" because of your phone dude, it's not that special. Basic phones arent that weird..
nice stop motion tho..👍👍👍
You're missing it, why is everyone wanting to compare to a smartphone ...it's an old phone memorabilia ,not an iPhone comparer
I think the review totally misses the point of the "dumb phone". Some people just want a functional, practical way of disconnecting from smart phone addiction. I assume (although I'm not sure this is true) that this is why there is a rise in popularity on these Nokia phones. There is a minimalist market.
we are waiting for nokia flip phone.
The video was clearer than a CCTV.
Great idea for the unboxing! 👍
Can it play music while texting?
Facts
Emersive is not a word
@@pannonianbrute ...And sentences end with a dot.
so what featured phones you can recommend?
you have way too high of an expectation for a cheap 40$ feature phone
Will it be a review of xiaomi mi a2 lite?
Hi can you put an uber app on this phone?
Rainier Donor No, sorry.
the video you taken looks like some kind of 90s video...
so nostalgic...
Currently have OnePlus 6T which dies within a day or two, and I dont want to be left without any possible communication when camping so this phone (or phone similar to this one) would be perfect for me.
thanks brother for making this video...here is my experience with this phone
I purchased Nokia 8110 4g but it's network connectivity is very poor and it's hotspot connectivity disappointing.. sometimes connected sometimes Disconnected automatically..I got fed-up with this phone because of Hotspot and network issue..plz check all before buying friends..time is urs money is urs... thik twice before ... good luck.
03:42 i swear that bus looked more liked a cartoon and not real life
Unboxing was a lit.
Sir please reply me is 1MB action Games support in this phone like sony Ericsson k800i
The camera looks really good
I’m looking for a dumb-phone to replace many years of iPhones. The thing is, that I want to be able to write text messages without the old style three-letters-and-a-number-per-button thing. No need for colour screen, games, apps or a camera, just a very easy to use device for calls and messages and a decent keypad. Any suggestions?
i love my Nokia 8110 4G❤❤❤
Better camera than dslr :)
Are you guys in Bulgaria???
The storage could be somewhat bigger, the camera is alright as a picture notebook but a better one would not cost much more, and there should be a decent messenger app. Otherwise, I have not much to complain on the technical side. It should (almost) meet the intended market, with a little room for improvement.
But the build quality? A slide cover operating by simple plastic friction, a soft and scratchy screen, that's not necessary. Because we don't need a 6 inch display does not mean we only need a turd.
Price?
International ver? Or Thailand ver?
Bought this phone couple of months ago. Still waiting for the Whatsapp app they promised. Also, the "app store" is about 5 apps and some games. Haven't seen anything new in there for months.
Those pictures are really good
who is here after watching mrwhoistheboss and tech altar videos ?
Seriously I'm thinking of buying it after those videos
@@AB-td5oo I am as well. I don't get why a lot of the comments I read about the phone talk about it being much worse than a smartphone, because it is not! I'm thinking about getting one as a back-up phone, and might even consider getting a second line (a prepaid one) and keep both phones.
I am looking for a simple phone with NO touch screen, just call. sms and decent camera. dont mind simple google maps, but no other distractions please. How good is the camera on this one? And any other recommendations?
I purchased this cellphone 📱 today and it is awesome... Classic phone in just 10k rupees.. 13 March 2019
What??!!! Its cost is RS 2999. Go and check the price at Nokia.com
Bruh... You got ripped off, I got it for 3,299. I also saw, I guess, the non 4g version, which is 2999 or less depending on which seller you get it from.
@@0themanticore0 it's the 4g version. I bought it from the Nokia online store of India.
@@astronautonmars Exactly. Not sure how he paid 10k for it.
Can I use this phone as a mobile hotspot. Thanks.
Aaaand is it available in the US yet?
does this phone has conversation view in the messages, that you have an overview of all the texts from one person and don't need to open every seperate message? thanks!
Not bad as a backup phone, and it now has WhatsApp according to a tweet I saw the other day.
That makes a massive difference, thanks for passing that on :-)
is this bad boy spring loaded? if the slider doesn't spring out with the press of a button its a no-deal
It has a web browser? Can I download mp3s from a website onto the phone and playback with Bluetooth?
The Titans are back
Thanks for the review but I think it's pointless comparing it to a smartphone as people would buy this for it's simplicity. I work in technology but I'm considering buying one as I'm tired of being joined at the hip with a smartphone. Message, Talk, Music is all I want any more and occasionally Google Maps. If I want to take a photo I'll use my camera
Can this phone be used as a mobile hotspot?
i read it has whatsapp, does it have it? the screen doesnt break and it it does u can still use it like any other non smart phone right?
Can it run videos on my sd card
can u please add your gear stuffs like camera for shooting please add this in your description
Are you from Bulgaria???
Is it waterproof?
So a feature phone is not a smartphone? Missing the point much? Thanks for the quality review though. The lid really seems bad and makes me reconsider.
That’s the feature phone and crazy thing is Wifi
Don't get it, reviewer says no social media apps but Twitter - but the box has the Facebook logo (check out the unboxing sequence), and other comments on here indicate it's got WhatsApp...This review was published today so they're talking about up to date firmware. So is SM selection determined by region, or what?
gorpalm1 WhatsApp support is yet to be announced, but it's coming in short future. For Facebook, I think that is supported. For future updates you should check Nokia Mobile Twitter page or Support page.
does this have a micro sim card slot or a nano guys?
can you use hotspot on this??
The camera video quality is like from an 80's VHS camera
The purpose isn't for this phone to be just like a smartphone. It doesn't need the same tech or programming. I want it to get away from phone dependency.
Auto sync option for contacts not available....
Very slow when you open phone book, it takes more time to respond
Does this phone have an email and WhatsApp Messenger? Like seperate app
camera is good (considering feature phone)
does this phone have a wifi hotspot feature?
