- I like Scammels. The official GDSF 2009 programme lists about sixty of them. You can see and hear a good dozen Scammells, also a selection of other heavy traction engines in motion, like AEC Militant, Antar and Rotinoff. Enjoy the great sound!

Nicely put together film. Really enjoyed it.
@RoryTrackrod Thanks, Rory(?). To be honest, I did not even know the name Scammell before the GDSF 2009 (I live in central Europe), but GDSF was the start of a 'love affair' to these giants. I like the lot of engineering know how, the sound and the typical Scammell-design.
Well I'm a real 'Scammellista' now!
Thank you for watching and the kind feedback! Greetings from Austria!
Your welcome. Greetings from Northern Scotland!
Great presentation. Wish I'd been there!
Die Scammells sind in unseren Breiten wirklich eher unbekannt, aber anscheinend sorgt Matchbox doch (glücklicherweise) für eine einschlägige Bildung. Danke fürs Anschaun & Posten! Grüße aus Österreich!
Yes, and obviously it's a good thing, saving classic technology and playing a little bit. Thanks for watching and comment!
These things were powered by a wide variety of engines. There was the Scamell-built side-valve petrol engine. There was diesel power by Cummins, Detroit Diesel and even Leyland opposed-piston diesel engines. There were early Scammell front-drive trucks made in France using the powertrain from a Citroen Traction Avant. The biggest truck they made, the Commander, used a 625hp Rolls-Royce V12 diesel tank engine.
Thanks for info and watching!
You are thinking of commer with the opposed piston engine or roots who made the engine and superchargers
Constructors are my favourite but I like Pioneers and Explorers, too. Also, was that Lawrence Fox at 5:29?
