    Can remember hearing operation blade in a club for the first time back in 2002, when that bass dropped so did my jaw, so many great tracks back then like blood is pumping by Voodoo and Surrano and Warp Brothers Phatt Bass.

    hands down my favorite if i had to choose… never enjoyed music like his sets, he reignited the spark for me bringing back somewhat that hard trance sound but with tech-trance and it was a wrap! his selections of tracks and remixes / mashups are just above and beyond gold and jus about everytime he does a new track or remix / mashup it’s a track that makes ya say , wow he knows how to pick the good ones and do his magic when so… bless that man for he def showers audiophiles / tranceaddict / musical minions with nothing but musical magic. godspeed MARK!

    I did an engineering session with Mark many years back and remember asking him did he have any bad experiences at gigs. He didn't have much to say, except told me about when Operation Blade was at its peak, he was doing a DJ gig somewhere where his best moment of the night would be dropping that track because it was the one song everyone would be waiting to hear. Unfortunately the warm up DJ beat him to it as he dropped the track right at the end of his set before mark came on. It completely ruined his time to play it later in the night he said lol:D

      Haha oops! I have a similar story with Solarstone. Several years ago I did join him to a trance classics show at the Matrixx in Nijmegen. The DJ who did perform just before Solarstone did end his set with “Seven Cities”... oops 😂🙈

    Always wondered how much they'd paid to clear that sample, on the basis that the sample is the whole tune really. Wonder if the warp brothers had to pay for their rip off of the pump panel "melody" too, that formed the basis of Phat Bass. Remember how big both tracks were in the local clubs at the time.

    • @muzikxpress

      According to Mark's reaction, it wasn't cheap haha

    • @mikemarino5762
      @mikemarino5762 3 роки тому

      Phatt Bass altered the melody whereas Operation Blade did not. Personally, I did not like the Public Domain track because it sounds off in certain places. The best version is Razor Blade by Domi Nation.

    Hey man. I'd really love to hear the story behind Johnny Shaker - Pearl River. It was a huge track in the UK when it was released and is still one of my favourites!

    • @muzikxpress
      @muzikxpress  5 років тому +3

      I have a few "rules" for interviews I do;
      - the track needs to be known in at least a few different countries;
      - it must be possible for me to interview the artist(s) / producer(s), so the must live near me or they must come to The Netherlands for a show / performance, since I don't have a travel budget
      - I need to know the track myself as well and like it, otherwise I don't think I should do an interview about it ;-)
      Since I don't know this track (from what I see it only came out in Germany and the UK back then) I don't see this happen, sorry, just being honest ;-)

    • @MissDolcenGabbana
      @MissDolcenGabbana 5 років тому

      The vocal mix is absolutely superb! It's a real shame, as the track is huge in the UK and is considered one of the great trance classics

    • @muzikxpress
      @muzikxpress  5 років тому +2

      @@pryda001 Oh I'm sure the track was huge in the UK, but as I wrote before, I want to do vlogs about tracks that have been big in several countries. I mean, i'm Dutch and I can easily do some vlogs about tracks that were big here, but not anywhere else. In that case I know those vlogs wont get as much views as normal vlogs and tbh it takes a lot of time to make a vlog, especially interviews. So I decided to only pick tracks that have been big in at least a few countries. And besides that, I don't know this track, which makes it harder to do a good vlog about it in my opinion. And last but not least, the guys that made this one don't live in The Netherlands and I don't see them touring a lot here as well ;-) Hope this explains why I make some "rules" for myself when I do interviews. But no worries, more to come! This week I did an interview with a Dutch producer who had a #1 in the UK Dance Charts somewhere in the 90s. And this track gets covered every once in a while still :)

    What a fookn legend!! An absolute pioneer of the harder, trance sound. Does it all production wise, and unlike a lot of producers, myself included, can actually play the keyboard/ synth. it's just my humble opinion, but there is nothing special about the success of a release which contains almost the entirety of the original track as main sound.. that's why most people mistakenly think it's the original Blade OST.. I know it was made with license but it's more like new version of the original - 'Confusion Construction 2000'..

      @@muzikxpress - Haha, I just had to listen to both tracks and yep you are right. However, Acid Ego uses the exact same 303 bassline but a 5th higher... Plus about another 10bpm in tempo... Still, those versions are timeless and while Mark's version is good, it does annoy me that not enough people know of the original versions
