This is one of the best video I've ever watched, I do have a question though.. How do you control the descending temperature along the column..?
Dick Cavett had a talented cousin named Robert, I believe. Now, Robert was a chemical engineer. He conceived of the usefulness of isothermal distillation - or else the Cavett problem was presented to him fully formed and all he had to do was solve it. Well. the solution is simply to place a compressor in the vapor transfer stream between every two adjacent trays. One can adjust the output pressure of each individual compressor to match the temperature profile desired.
