I was eating better but then I started staying up late at night because of a game called Genshin Impact (not implying that it was the game's fault, it clearly was mine), which led me to overeat for around 3-4 months. I didn't gain mucj weight but it makes me feel so sick:( I'm trying to change that
Try drinking water or tea or snacking on peanut butter and fruits. Pair that with excersise. I used to be that guy that went "This won't work!!" But realized even just biking for 30 minutes made me forget about cookies and cake for a month now.
Try searching for low calorie, high volume recipes on UA-cam, that will do the trick for most people. Typical things like salad are an example of this kind of food, but that's surface level, there's a lot of delicious food that will keep you full for longer periods of time without weight gain.
Growing up my parents would always give me too much food and then force me to finish it with guilt trips or anger. So now I just take more than I need and even just eat for emotional reasons. Key is recognizing it.
Yeah thats true and even more true with Latino families, which is why their kids get fatter at a younger age in the US. If parents just portioned smaller and correctly, their child wont have a problem overeating.
I was over 110kg (242lbs) when I was 16 because of that but thankfully I managed to overcome it and lose 30kg in a year 30kg more and I'll reach my goal
Yes, I agree that eating quickly isn’t good. Eating slowly really helps your body (brain and digestive system, mostly) process what’s being put into it, allowing your body to tell you if you’re full before you eat too much. That’s what helps me; I used to scarf down a meal within 5-10 minutes and feel crappy after, but now I really make an effort to chew slowly and savor every bite…now I’m proud that I take at least 25-30 minutes to finish a full meal, and my body is much happier (calmer) afterwards! Watching a clock and doing puzzles or something to distract you from eating too fast really helps if you can do it. I know short breaks at work can be tough, but I still try to eat slowly, even if it’s less. I hope it works for you all, too!
It really sucks that nearly all of my family and friends pressure me to eat as quickly as possible. I also suffer with Crohn's and it helps me digest food if I chew it enough times (my goal is 30 chews per bite), but everyone pressures me to eat asap. It's so very annoying.
I was reminded of my dark past. I've been trying but I still get this bingeing tendency where I want to eat sth so bad, perhaps because I am stressed or bored. It is really hard to fight against it T-T

Shorter lunch periods do not allow slow eating, but rather encourages fast eating to the point of tricking your stomach into thinking that it's full, but in reality, you are still hungry and have to depend on snacks to make up for the tiny portions

I used to binge eat (I still have my slip ups) but I’ve lost 20 lbs and I’m still trying to lose more! I have to say I feel so much better and I’ve noticed that my stomach can’t hold as much food at a time because it’s shrunk down to the size it SHOULD be. My only issue is that I’m a fast eater. Always have been and I’m sure I always will be, but that hasn’t stopped me from losing weight! My food baby is also gone! I went from 200 lbs to 178 lbs, and I’m 16. If I can do it, so can you!
I worked a fast paced job for years with little breaks, I binge eat and I like my food hot. All three led to me becoming a very fast eater. It's a hard habit to break, but trying to be mindful of it. I also can't eat nearly as much, since losing 55lbs. I'm getting better at it, but it is tough to break out of. Best of luck on your continued health journey
Maybe it's just because I don't have anything delicious in front of me right now, but knowing I'm literally stretching my stomach and putting pressure on the rest of my organs is good motivation to not overeat.
It all makes sense now. I once ate an entire 18 inch pizza in just 1 hour. I had abdominal pain for 2 hours and had to rest on all fours in an upward form to prevent pain and erping.
@Fre Joorfelgen There was 8 slices total. 4 slices I ate easily. 6th slice was tough but I managed. 8th slice was really forced and took forever to eat. There was a pile of toppings that fell off that I had to save for later. I ate about 3,500 calories in 1 sitting. Never making that mistake again. Ouch
I've had2 large domino pizzas and 4cookies n half an hour or so on a regular basis this morning I excreted blood but am prepared to indulge again .with and gluttony are such vile sins I'm so sorry.....
Growing up, the only(and I do mean ONLY) time i ever received any parental approval was when my mom complimented me on overeating. Between that and the constant pressure and nagging to overeat, I was conditioned to eat through the pain. Now, I'm in abdominal pain every day, often unable to walk, no matter what I eat and I'm in slow, but unstoppable weight loss. Overeating sux
Same here!! I was praised for finishing off my plate/eating lots. Food would be given to me as a form of affection, also. Now as an adult i'm a binge eating bulimic with borderline orthorexia. Please teach our children healthy eating habits.
@@celesteniamh9196 I do. I ingrain my kids with the eat it, box it, or trash it for all foods. As long they do one of those 3, I mostly don't care which. Obviously, insist on a balanced diet with regular veg and fruit, but I let them decide when they are hungry. Once, while visiting my mom, my daughter, who was raised in believe in herself, reacted to the nagging to eat by eating less. My mom completely freaked out. I was so proud of my daughter for standing up to the pressure.
When I was little, I wasn't allowed to leave the table (or drink anything) if I didn't empty my plate first. Now I find it a habit to eat things in certain order and be "done eating" when the food is gone not when I'm full. Now I'm called a food hound by the people who did this to me, like bruh...
Same! At restaurants I was expected to finish my plate because it was deemed wasteful not to. But now, when I’ve gotten the habit of finishing off food, my family call me fat for eating something in a day.
The book "30 Days to Stop Overeating" by Harper Daniels takes an interesting mindfulness approach. Weight loss can be very psychological, tied to stress etc.
this made me realize I used to overeat at dinner almost every day a year ago, my stomach always hurt afterwards lol. I've changed my habits since though and it feels so much better!
I used to be obsessed with weightlifting and my obsession didn’t stop when I left the gym. I force fed myself chicken and rice and a bunch of other foods I thought would get me big for many years. To be fair I did get much bigger and stronger but at the same time my life wasn’t fun. I was miserable cause I was always stuffed and I felt like I never had time to do anything other than eating and lifting or I would get small. If you aren’t interested in becoming a roided out professional bodybuilder or strength athlete I would definitely not recommend sacrificing all the time in your life to getting big and strong. It’s not worth it. That’s such a tiny aspect of life and there is so much more to enjoy in life. I will still always lift weights and eat healthy foods but anything in excess can become unhealthy and the gym life is no exception. Have balance! I hope my story helps someone who feels like a slave to the gym rat lifestyle. Don’t be defined by your size and strength. Your self worth is not based on your physical body!
I totally agree with your comment. In my friend group of weight lifters I noticed everyone's diet is completely different and it really depends on how your body works. A friend of mine who builds muscle really quickly has a normal diet and consumes a very average amount of protein. Really interesting!

The past few weeks I've been feeling extra hungry, probably compensating for emotional issues - who knows, but this video is a good wake-up call to stop overeating and get to work. Great motivational content at the right time. Thank you, UA-cam algorithm

Better than actually eating slower, is eating but then taking a break after your meal is done. Works wonderfully and you will actually notice that you're in fact full. Hope this helps!

And here is my mum, forcing me to eat, until I am more than full. And when I don't eat everything, she is upset or says I am having an eating disorder..... So damaging, if your parents are like that, just tell them how damaging they are
Let her know you need smaller portions because you feel like vomiting. Or also put away the leftovers and eat them at the next meal. If mom isn't a douche she will understand
I feel lucky that my parents ain't like this. I eat once a day or maybe nothing, and my parents will try encourage me to eat but will never force me. I'm grateful
the thing i’m constantly going through this past week in my eating disorder is that when i do eat, i tend to look for more and more food until its too much food in my stomach then throw if up. its like i’m saying “if i’m eating, then i might as well eat as much as i can since i’m gonna throw it up anyways.” its such a horrible mindset, and i’m just so deep in restricting, binging, binging and purging etc.. but today, i felt too tired to throw up and have decided to just stop throwing up, but i ate A LOT. and even when i got full, i was still looking for more to eat. i wasn’t even concerned at the calories anymore, i was just concerned on weather my stomach’s gonna burst open or not :(
My parents always made me eat everything and said some kids didn't have anything to eat or that I was being ungrateful. Although they have broken out of that habit with my younger siblings.
Mine did too, they are from the Dominican Republic and would go hungry a lot, thank god I had a fast ass metabolism cuz I would’ve been an obese ass mf without it, cuz they fed me a whole bunch
My general tactic for not overeating it just to chatter a whole bunch through a meal. It may annoy everyone around me and mean that I end up eating cold food, but it means that I eat slowly!
I feel good to hear once in my life that eating slow is good. From my family members to my closest friends, everyone has always told me that I eat extremely slow and my friends also make fun of me. I take 25 minutes to finish my meal. Thanks for the video.
me too!! I always get somewhat embarrassed to eat with people because it takes me like 30 minutes average to eat a meal and I can't seem to eat as much either, and people laugh and get confused 😔 But this vid and comment make me feel less ashamed lol
I read the title and thought "You get sleepy." I knew that part about the brain getting less oxygen when you overeat. I rarely overeat myself though. When I do it's usually on family gatherings. Even then I don't go overboard. xD I don't like that feeling of fatigue afterwards, hence why I try to avoid it and eat slowly.
Anyone trying to stop binge or emotional eating, I believe in you! Don’t focus on your weight but instead focus on how you want to feel happy and find your happy place without food. You can do this!
I used to over eat almost everyday for years to the point of reaching type two obesity then I had other problems that came with it like pcos and muscle soreness, it was too much to handle and stressful to be bleeding all the time non-stop it felt so draining so I went through sleeve gastrectomy surgery last month to solve these problems. Now after losing 20kg the bleeding stopped, even a sip of water makes me feel full and it got me thinking how I used to binge eat to the point of nausea. I know the problems that led me to this but I couldn’t stop, self awareness doesn’t mean these problems get solved. I was so untrustworthy of anyone to seek help. Now I feel like I could trust people more like therapists, my friends and family and would like to seek therapy to talk about these problems. I’m motivated to lose weight and gain muscles but I’m also afraid of relapsing when my stomach will adapt and stretch big enough to handle carbs after two months so I will try therapy. I noticed that I can’t handle stress or anxiety very well without food, I’m a nervous wreck and I guess I used food to conceal it, I really love carbs, they’re comforting
I heard that it takes time, probably a few days, for the stomach to slowly reduce back to its natural carrying capacity once its over distended even by just one meal. This will make you need more food to feel fuller on the next meals.
I noticed one thing when I overeat I don't really feel as much hungry as I use to when I didn't overate that's cause my body needs less food to function now even though it's hard to move and gained alot of weight unlike those that binge eat everyday lol.
@@justfelix30same lol if i overeat i dont really have much appetite for the next few days, i assume it’s because the system is all backed up and needs some room to manoeuvre

Bro didn't just tell us what it is and how it works, but also gave a food option that will minimize overeating. Good person
I take 30 minutes to sometimes an hour if I’m on my phone
I sometimes eat too fast but the weirdest thing ever when I eat too much fast my belly doesn’t hurt.

This will make you need more food to feel fuller on the next meals.
takes my body a day or two .
I actually am not able to eat normally for a while after overeating. My stomach feels really sensitive, so I actually eat a lot less.
Having binge eating disorder is like actual physical and mental torture. You can't stop yourself from eating to the point of sickness and potential organ ruptures. It's so painful and the pain lasts for days.
