Hi Igor, I think the best answer for your homework is Nd4, and followed by b5 and c6 to kick the white quee away and take Bishop, if white play Bf7+. Just wondering how about white play Bf7+ and then Cxd4, @6:20. Thanks you so much!
You right about Nd4 but you have to know b5 only comes after bf7. I got the answer instantly because I remember getting my Bishop taken when I was 850 elo.
And the question for Bf7. white playing that is a mistake and you just have to move your king to the only square and you will be safe. then b5 to disconnect the queen and the Bishop and take the Bishop in the next move
recently, I’ve been doing well in the openings and middle games, but seem to have trouble blowing it during the end game. Your principles have really helped me get through openings in middle games with an advantage. But late middle game and endings seem like a big area. I need improvement. Any chance you could make some videos on those parts of the game?
For the homework: Push d5 2. exd5 Nxd5 3. Bxd5 Nd4 4. Qa4+ с6 5. Вхс6+ bxc6 They can’t take on c6 or d4 because they blunder the queen If they push: 6. c3 Nc2 and you fork the rook and you have a better position If they try f4 or Nf3 there passive moves because you still push Nc2 and win the rook Can someone let me know if I got it correct. Awesome video thank you for all the great content!
the right move is Nd4 from the get-go. white playing Bf7 is a blunder and you just have to move your king to the only square and you will be safe. then b5 to disconnect the queen and the Bishop and take the Bishop in the next move
At first I thought the solution to the puzzle was 1… Na5 2. Bxf7+ Ke7 3. Qb5 c6 4. Qe2 Kxf7 -+ However, then I noticed that white can play 3. Qa4 instead of 3. Qb5 and in that case black has just lost a pawn, and castling rights. So the solution is 1… Nd4 2. Bxf7+ Ke7 3. Qc4 b5 4. Qd3 Kxf7 -+ Also, in the last position in the video where you play h6 Nxf7 Rh7, it's also worth mentioning that Bxf7+ is met by Ke7, and white loses a piece by force. Their bishop is attacked by the king, but it's defended. However the defender itself is under attack
I'm debating back and forth and decided to check the computer. It recommends Nd4, but my original thought was d5 and if they take with a pawn or trade off with the bishop they will be down -3.60 points in advantage vs -2.20 with Nd4. I personally would play d5 despite the video indicating Nd4 is the move.
I was trying to figure out. …Nd4, Qe3 d4, Bg3 dxe4, Qc4 Qe7. And so on. Is there something better after Qe3 guarding c3? Edit: wait after Qc4 threatening mate black can play …Be6 and the queen needs to retreat to f1 or she’s gonna get trapped. Then black can trade bishops and c3 is hanging.
The move should be Nd4 to attack the queen and the c2 pawn. Then white probably plays Bxf7+ and black is forced play Ke7, then white must move the queen. The only move which deals with all threats is Qc4 which defends both c2 pawn and f7 bishop, but now black can play b5 to attack the queen and white will needs to move the queen away and allows black to either play Nxf2+ and wins a rook, or give up the bishop at f7
@@eclecticmusic123 Qe7 is very passive. Bxf7+ Ke7 is fine. The king is safe and it attacks the bishop. White has no other pieces in the attack and the queen is overloaded, she can’t leave the diagonal cuz it drops the bishop to Kxf7. And she also is sole defender of the fork on c3.
I guess 1. Nd4 to hit the queen, and after 2.Bxf7+; Ke7 and threats remans (knight tasrgets the white queen and depending where she moves Nxc2+ forking king and rook or Kxf7 if white doesn't blunder the queen)
What about …Nd4, Qd3 protecting c3? I was calculating lines after Qd3 d5, striking in the center. A few different lines to calculate there but I think black comes out at least up a pawn.
If 1. ...Nd4; 2.Qc3, Nxe4 threatening the queen, grabbing a pawn and 3.Qd3 or b3 to protect the c2 pawn, and then 4.Nb4 (for Qd3) or Nd4(for Qb3) and after 5.Qb3 or Qd3(to flee again) I don't see the following. And yes we have a pawn.
During Tip 3, after h4 I would consider playing Bf7:+, followed by Kf7: cd5:, ed5: Bg5 and white looks better. That would be another good example of a counter attack.
9:50 how about Bishop to H6, if knight takes pawn then we can let the rook hang and take the white bishop, and next turn go to A2 and capture the rook (meanwhile the white knight's trapped) And if white takes the pawn with the bishop, move the king to e7, and next move we exchange the knight for our bishop and capture the white bishop ? I'd appreciate feedback on this. (sorry, I don't master chess notations so I explained it in plain english)
Great content as always, and congratulations on your 600K+ followers, which continue to rise each time I visit your channel!!!!!! I hope that by this time next year, you will have 1 million subscribers!
the answer for the puzzle is pawn d5 this forces white to capture with the pawn and when they do knight d6 threatening a fork and attacking the queen. Alternatively if white captures with the bishop knight takes pawn takes and knight d6
I like the whole "keep the tension going" idea, but that only works if the other player also wants to do that. Faced with tension or exchange, 500-600 blitz players just exchange.
I have watched hundreds of tutorials, I've gotten a very decent opening knowledge (London as white, Caro as black) and I have an advantage in the opening but then my neanderthal brain comes into play in the middle and end game and all the of hours I spent on youtube, lessons, puzzles and games goes to waste I play 10 minutes rapid or sometimes 15, but it must be my stupidity stopping me from improving what's even worse is that about once or twice a month I can play really good, beating 1200 and even 1300 at times (my elo is currently 1208) to casually losing to 800 and ending up telling myself in the mirror how useless and stupid I am nonetheless I really enjoy your content Igor. you are really good at what you're doing! both at chess and teaching chess. I just wish I had the brain to actually put what I'm learning into practice
Great video again! The problem I am facing is that I have difficulty to find the great moves you are talking about. I pretend I have to imagine moves that are against my actual "narrow" vision. I also feel a little bit like Luke being told by Yoda to unlearn what he has learned 😄 One example is that someone said to complete the opening before attacking, what has helped me and what goes somehow against your attacking moves in this video. I am scratching my head about how I will address all of this from now on 😵💫. That's what I like about chess, there is always something new to consider; even things we took for granted. Thanks.
The key is to keep playing with all these ideas in mind. You'll probably make a lot of mistakes, but it will slowly make sense and become part of your games until you notice a big jump in your rating. I went from 700 to 1200 in less than a year following this method.
The thing to think about is not a fixed rule like "touch each piece one time in the opening until you are castled, Queen is off back rank, and Rooks are connected." That becomes like religion; fine on general principles, but problematic on details. Notice how Igor here compares the number of activated pieces at the end of each response, and chooses the one where your active piece count has grown compared to the opponent's, even though you might have moved a piece twice to get there? This is the key: respond to pressure by heightening tension with bigger threats than your opponent is making. This leads them to trading down to get out of pressure, and so, giving you a time advantage. You always want to gain time on the board. I am only 2100-2200 on LiChess, so not a Master, but hopefully this advice rings true for you.
I think the right move is a counter attack against the queen with knight d4, he cant actually checkmate you easily here with his bishop in front so knight d4 defuses the attack, takes center control and creates new initiative, once he moves then pawn d5 may get you 2 knights in the center.
pawn d5 to shut down the battery immediately. then follow with Nd4. if Qb5+ c6 followed by b5. in other cases there may be a liquidation in the center which favors black
Igor what should I do to reach level 2000 I mean things like tactical tasks etc that I can do regardless of ranking along the way. My current ranking is 1300.

Nd4 is the move though. You allow the check, move the king up, white queen has to move to c4 (she has to protect the bishop) and then I guess just b5 to kick away the queen. Wherever she moves she'll have to stop guarding the Bishop and/or c2.
move I think is Na5, bishop can still check but then after king steps forward, the queen must be saved and there is no place where she can cover the bishop, so the bishop is lost sooner or later ?
When you counter-attack the bishop, white can give a check by playing bf7. And black will lose the chance to castle, lose the tempo and also have a weak pawn at the flank. Any solution to this?
Total rookie here but is there a better move for the puzzle than queen E2? If he decides to attack you lose a pawn and a queen and gain a bishop and a queen. Plus he loses all development of his pieces. Sounds like a fair trade to me
I think knight d4 is the move because after bishop takes f7 check king e7 the bishop is attacked the queen is attacked if queen c4 b5 the queen cannot defend the bishop if queen c5 check king takes f7 the queen has to move to c3 to defend the c2 pawn then bishop b4 sacrifing the bishop to lure the queen away from the c2 pawn after queen takes b4 knight takes c2 after king d1 knight takes b4 and black is a queen up
I'm mid 1300s & I've been employing counterattack for some time now. I think Igor overrates 1500 players & underrates players of my standard. I've noticed in other clips. He seems out of touch with a large group of very good players who can't crack 1500. Incidentally, finding the correct move at the 7-min mark on the clip (Rxa2) was pretty easy to see for anyone on my rating. I won't go into detail right now, but I think Igor also gets it wrong at around the 11-min mark when he forgets that it's actually a rook-PAWN tradeoff for the knight -bishop, so if bishops are worthy a little more than 3 pawns, white is slightly worse off in material terms.
Isn't take free pawn on e5 with knight the correct answer? as white queen moved and blundered by leavinh hanging pawn? You only gaining half point by trading with white after bishop queen fork...

What if at 6:26 white first attack f7 pawn after king capture it white can take knight
Ive been watching igor a lot and finnaly after 1.5 years reached 1500, not stopping till 2750
Good luck man, just yesterday i hit 1500 rating in a year on and off
at 6:27 bishop can check the king and win a pawn how is it good?
I think Kd4 is the best move, it attacks the queen and threatens a fork on c2
Na5 to attack both Queen and bishop
Nice
It looks like the move is Nd4
Nd4 Bxf7+ Ke7 Qc4 b5
or
Nd4 Qc3 Nxe4 Qd3 d5
or
Nd4 Qd3 d5 exd5 Nxd5 Bxd5 Qxd5
…Nd4, Qd3 d5, exd5 Bf5!
And the queen is skewered to c3!
Always retreat. Except once in a while when a counterattack is better :)
I would say Nd4 looks pretty good to me
I'm mid 1300s & I've been employing counterattack for some time now.
Puzzle solution- knight d4
Isn't take free pawn on e5 with knight the correct answer? as white queen moved and blundered by leavinh hanging pawn? You only gaining half point by trading with white after bishop queen fork...
Puzzle answer: Na5
nd4,bxf7+
Ke7,qc4
B5,qb4+
Kxf7,
Attacking the Queen with knights fork and Bishop
are you guys nuts? still B x P f7+, and K can't take, and then very complicated. why not the simple Q-e7?
N d4 , what do you think
Sir Knight d4 ,Nd4
Na5 right?
Its a fork and it defends the b7 pawn
Rb1 and the xb4?
He fulfilled my request ❤
Can you make a video of SEMI SLAV PLZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 0:17 what does he say white is attempting? I can't make out the word... something mate
Scholars
I think the answer to the puzzle is knight to d4
N D4
I learned that you must not move your piece when attacked by opponent
