My First Custom Trout Rod Build time-lapse into 10 minutes!

- Hi everyone,
Welcome back to the channel. I finally built my first custom rod. I have been looking for a new fishing rod to pair up with my new Daiwa Luvias LT and noticed the prices were pretty high. A lot of of Ultra Light rods from Japan were in the $200-$350 range. I really like the build and style of JDM rods but did not want to spend the money for it. I chose to build my first custom rod for the same price (without the rod build kit) and have it built to my liking. I hope you all enjoy this rod build. I will probably build a few more for personal use and maybe for sale.

Yes it would. I will probably build another one for my BFS wheel.
I have a feeling we won’t be seeing the daiwa gekkabjin anymore :(

Did your winding wrap epoxy still feel tacky after the curing period? I notice that this happens sometimes to mines. I was careful in the correct mix. When this happens, I use a clear acrylic varnish over it to give the epoxy a dry to the touch feel.
After 8 hrs my wrap epoxy was sticky but after a 24 hr period it was good to go. I also added a second layer of clear just to make sure my wrap will stay on. This was all a learning experience. 👍

I'm trying to learn to build my self. I just ordered me some JDM UL blanks. Hoping to build me something nice. You mentioned you have a Luvias, I also have a Luvias.
I've noticed alot after the Area trout guys remove the magseal on the Luvias. Have you done this to yours?

Hi, I leave all my magseal because I don't have extra mag oil. I prefer it to stay sealed also. Good luck on the build! It will definitely turn out great.
Legit build , never built a rod but how is buying the reel seat and guides sizes determined? You go by size of tip or but cap? Motivated me to get a blank looks like my TETRA WORKS react

Nice build, what reel seat is that you used?
Fuji SKSS/SKTSS reel seat. I had to order it from Korea. Going to try and order some more for some other builds I want to do. I couldn't find any color reel seats here in the US. I may not be looking at the right place for fishing rod parts. Hopefully I can find some parts local in the US so shipping won't take long.

What did that run $ you in materials total ?
Material alone was around $250

This was an expensive build. It would be around $350 for this custom build from most custom rod builder's.

How often do you re-spook your Phoenix iron feather braid?
I usually re-spool after 1 season since the braid is thin and can have some loose/cut threads.
