Sat in one of these at the dealership. Great build and very luxurious and comfortable and I'm 6'6". I don't know how much they'll sell even though the price has been reduced. I may go for the GX over this because I can actually configure the premium GX for $64k with a few packages and standard features that are upgrades that put the Lancruiser over $70k. That's the issue. If a 4 cylinder is pushing over $70k and I can get a v6 for less that's the exact same platform it's an easy choice. Understand that the new landcruiser in the US is the Landcruiser Prado elsewhere except outside the US the exact vehicle body, etc, mostly comes with a turbo diesel. The GX has always been the same body as the Prado hence the body similarity with the new Landcruiser. Before the Landcruiser and the Lexus LX were the same amd now the Landcruiser and the GX are the same so makes sense to get the GX.

@@toothnail605 I understand, the 4 cylinder engine options have historically been the "affordable" option. My father worked for Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan) for 17 years, in corporate accounting. He explained that Toyota is using the hybrid system in this Land Cruiser and Tacoma to justify the price point. Rather than just over charging for midsized 4x4s with 4 cylinders, like other manufacturers are. I think the price is reasonable with the hybrid system, but would not be otherwise

It is a large vehicle. It is not much smaller than the old Land Cruiser. This new Land Cruiser is over 5,000 lbs dry weight. It is built like a tank. The engine is outstanding and very quick. Well-equipped, the Land Cruiser Premium is around $72k-$75k. Outstanding Land Cruiser and much improved over the outgoing Land Cruiser.

With price difference in premium fuel here in Canada, the better mpg is negligible to my 2022 TRD Off Road 4Runner. I’ve added 285/70 AT C load tires x 5, and 700 lbs to it (roof tent, roof rack w/window panels, EcoFlow 2kWh pack, 12V 45L fridge, drawer set up, food, water, recovery gear, skin panels, 2 x 100W rigid solar panels, awning, etc) and did a road trip to Tuktoyaktuk (14,600 kms round trip in 13 days). I avg 14.5L / 100 kms pushing it at times, driving easy for most of trip. I figure Land Cruiser would use a bit more fuel with that weight added (say 11.5L / 100 kms vs 10.7L for stock wheels/weight) so this trip I would’ve maybe saved $50 Cdn, or about 1.5% savings in fuel cost.

the V6 4Runner will be better than this pound for pound. Only bad thing about the V6 4Runner is outdated interior and tech, but mechanically it will be the last great Toyota 4x4. If you're out in the wild, I don't see how having a hybrid is a good thing. Sure, probably 8 years down the road avoiding defects, but nobody prepares for battery failure 8 years down the road until it fails. You can't jump the hybrid battery, if its dead, it is dead. If it fails, hope you're not out in the wild in tough terrain or you're stuck with a 4 cylinder turbo to get back into town. I think when you're adventuring away from civilization, you want simple and robust. For city driving, there are way better options than the LC250.

This thing is claustrophobic inside like a old ford escape but with little gadgets fitted inside, a little lipstick of leather to “look prettier” with a slightly lifted suspension. And that battery is heavy making the gas tank smaller at that with needing premium fuel. I MEAN YOURE NOT SAVING MUCH WITH FUEL EITHER being a hybrid and the needing PREMIUM FUEL. Not the best value for the new generation here🙈

      1. Being narrow is a huge advantage for off road. 2. Regardless of fuel cost, the emissions are less to conform to USA standards and that's good. 3. 465ft/lbs of Torque is frickin' legit. I never needed 4wd low for trails I definitely needed it on before.

Regarding the hybrid system, which auto maker has more experience than Toyota regarding hybrids? The warranty that Toyota provides for the hybrid system speaks volumes: 10 years 240 000 km for the battery and 8 years 160 000 km for the hybrid system. I think we should be able to sleep well with these warranties!

I do not care at all for the rear passenger door window treatment, with that "upturn" in the window. Why does every damn car (except the Audi) have that swept up beltline, or the "upturn" in the rear passenger window, what I call "elfin ear window"? Every dad-burn carmaker does this, and I think it looks somewhere between goofy and just plain ugly.

My 2023 Lexus GX 460 Black Line in Nori Green MSRP was $63K new just a year ago (before dealer discounts.....). Here we see Toyota's adoption of their new slogan: you pay MUCH more, get way less. No KDSS, vast ocean of really cheap plastics, no silky smooth V8, no luxury, minimal insulation-much higher road noise, hilariously limited load rating in trunk, no 3rd row, no 3-zone climate, and I'm sure I missed half dozen of other things. These are the things that matter for 'everyday ride'

Another swing and a miss by Toyota.
Making this a 4 Cyl turbo hybrid , Toyota engineers messed up big time. Why? I currently drive a 4 Cyl Hybrid SUV that is every bit what this vehicle is, full time 4 wheel drive , locking diff. all the driving features and luxury interior, AND my SUV gets a Solid 37 MPG combined mileage every day.
I don't have to use premium gas either. There is nothing my current SUV can't do that this Toyota can.
Toyota engineers really seriously have a problem with the iforce max powertrain used in this and the Tacoma as far as they suck gas for no good reason, and the hybrid system is poorly setup. Why would they build a Hybrid that the fuel MPG sucks so bad. This is horrible! Also the huge premium price for this Toyota, is outside reason.

This is what Toyota has sunk to.. Tundra/Tacoma recalls…and now this $45k at best Land Cruiser with a $15k emblem…. After much anticipation and 2 test drivers in a base 1958, Toyota is in deep do do… let’s see… crappy hard plastic interior, sub par tech, rental car quality seat materials, NO POWER SEATS, a hood prop.. yes hood prop, anemic power train performance regardless what the hp/tq inflated numbers say, a battery pack plunked down in the cargo area that looks 100x worse in person and a 1970’s floaty Cadillac ride quality…. Don’t believe me ? Go for a test ride and report back and you’ll see that the LC is more of a farse than the CyberTruck.. Toyota should be ashamed for dumping another POS on the American consumer… right Tundra owners waiting for their replacement engines?
