Thanks for sharing your trip photos/drone video/commentary--it really helps tie everything together for a person that has never visited this part of the country that you are modeling! Well done on recreating this on your home layout!!
Daryl, those backdrops are gorgeous. I admire your effort to examine the actual terrain! By the way, the "I don't know" car is UPP 2055. It is one of UP's power cars. Even with diesels, let alone a steamer, the loco can't provide the amount of power needed by all the cars in the train. UP converted all the current "Heritage" fleet cars to 480v Head-End Power (HEP). With lights, air handling, electronics, etc the train has a pretty high energy requirement so UP has some cars that have big diesel generators. UPP 2055 was a former Ringling Brother, Barnum and Bailey power car. The other major one is UPP 2066 whicj has a notanle "hump back" appearance. Outside of brass, there is at least one guy custom building these with 3D printed body shells. Walther makes many of the cars in the train. The short (72') baggage cars can be modified from Rivarossi "1930;s" baggage cars. All of us are really looking forward to BLI's production of the UPP 119 "Kenefick" business car.
Very nice back-drops, Daryl! And very nice modeling! I’m not familiar w the area you’re modeling, so…seeing videos of the real ground, I’ve got something to relate to. Well done!! And the real Big Boy, I can’t believe that it was a static exhibit here in Pomona. So happy to see I alive again!!! Take care!
Daryl, the length of effort you go to improve your layout for us and yourself is simply outstanding and we get to see bits of the US we probably never will, so thanks so much, ( just finished watching Dallas v Cleveland game and are waiting for MNF ( 9.53 am Monday morning here in Australia) Thanks again and your layout just keeps getting better,Rusty from down under 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍
Looks good Daryl now to get back into it. Devils Slide and Croydon are next then Granger, Echo, Echo Pass, Emery, and Westvaco before Peru is tackled but the layout is almost done.
