That ending, I knew you guys would eventually fall for the strange mans charms before the video was over lol
At first we were confused, but by the end we were smiling from ear to ear. He was super cool :D
"and they were wisked away by the strange man and never heard from again. Some say if you visit a katsu shop you can here faint, ' that's a sanddon't' echo in the store if their sause soaks through the bread."
I hope I get to see him some day. He is a perfect accompaniment to a sandwich in the park.
Simon and Martina where did you buy kogi the travel pig?
Midori Bolduc it's called poking fun, they weren't being mean
I love that you felt it was necessary to clarify that that was, in fact, his music and not yours.
I wish we had that song in our library. We'd use it ALL THE TIME.
Simon and Martina I can hear it now, playing in the background as Spudgy trots happily away from a fresh poo
I was going to add that they'll probably search it online when they get home... but Martina already confirmed it... LOL!
MetalOfHeaven777 I actually like the song
auttoautaut95 I liked it too! Can’t beat Japanese street performers!
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! Please tell us where you're from and what's the best sandwich in your area. We travel a bit, and we always want to check out good food :D
Simon and Martina my best Sam which place is Shloztkys
Simon and Martina London! There's a bagel place called Beigel Bake in Shoreditch that changed my LIFE ( granted I'm usually drunk and any food potentially does that)
Simon and Martina Does a Nova Scotian donair count as a sandwich?
In New Zealand, we’re a little (lot) odd... potato chip sandwich... I don’t know why, but it works :P Love your hair and outfit in this btw Martina! :)
TAIWANNN we have a steamed bun with meat and fried scallion eggs in between (if that still counts as a sandwich! )
You know... my family has a term for the kind of bites of Simon’s ‘nibbles’. And we called them dad bites. Because whenever dad would ask for a bite or sip... reassuring you he wouldn’t take much... you’d say sure... but a part of your soul died... because you knew that whatever it was... half of it has now been sacrificed 😓😂
Genevieve C same for my siStEr
Oh my god my dad does the same thing! I thought it was just me!!
My dad also had a opening tax. Which means he got a bite of something when he opened it for me.
Here in US, we have the "hambaga"
the performer stole the spotlight lol, poor sando
Wow that dude is doing devil sticks when Simon and Martina first notice him! If you don't know what that is I suggest looking it up because it's really cool. I'm guessing when he has the ball on his head he's doing contact juggling which is also really cool
Xenlith he is also doing chinese yo-yo or diabolo. didn't expect that in Japan, but is pretty big in Chinese culture and was popularized in the Tang Dynasty :)
That dancing man kinda looked like Dan 😂😂
That sounds like a cool song, haha "Dan, Dan, the dancing man..." :D
Plot twist it was Dan the whole time 😂
Jennifer Villarreal deadass
My god *Im salivating* is not even a good description of my feels right now.
🇸🇪Swedens sandwich: Smörgås. And other popular type of sandwish is ”knäckebröd” which is crispbread, a mix of wheat and grains, you put butter and many things on, delicious!
vad gott!!!
is it super unusual to see street performers in japan??? where im from its very common and i assumed that was true for most urban areas around the globe tbh
+RJ14 I really haven’t seen many at all!
I really thought the same, that it was just as common everywhere else!
Same
Same
In Fujikyu there’s a small cafe and they have this as well, just with fresh salad added, and it was amazing.
😮 But... what if juggling man was building his own ladder the only way he knew how?
+Serenity Wicked then he was doing a great job because the people watching him loved it and we came around to enjoying him at the end too! 😊 but it still won’t change the fact that I don’t like clowns and circus stuff and especially circus music 🤡
In my city in the U.S, we're famous for our Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, I love them so much!
And to everyone that is 2017 offended with Simon and Martina's comments towards the street performer, you need to chill.
They even warmed up to him in the end and that was damn cute lol.
PHL represent
Owh god. I miss cheesesteak so much. We don't have it here
MrDamakable Ahh, that must be HARD. I love cheesesteaks. I try not to eat them often to stay healthy lol but I sure do love them a lot. It's sad that you don't have as much access to it :(
Long time listener, first time caller. Great video as always, team, and I just wanted to say Martina you look especially beautiful and happy, girl! Esp. the hair. Werk it
that song is now going to be stuck in my head for the rest of my life.
also i need those tiny sandwiches.
I like how the crusts are cut off the bread. I think it makes the cutlet more whimsical and picnic picture perfect to eat.
I actually like crust on my bread.
That magician is bound to be a star!
Hi S&M, if you ever return to Sweden, or rather, Gothenburg, Sweden, you have to, absolutely, have to try out the Räkmacka (Shrimp sandwhich). It is an open sandwhich, either on rye bread or a round white bread, piled with shrimps, over a leaf of lettuce, with a boiled egg on the side, some mayo, vegetables and garnished with dill... trust me, my city has the best seafood in Sweden (together with the rest of the west coast), don't even bother eating seafood in Stockholm, we get ours fresh, they have to wait a few hours.
Glad you changed your tune on the strange busking man -- we weirdos must be supportive of one another in living our best lives.
Of course! Weird at first, but the more you watch the more interesting and entertaining it gets :D
Martina’s cat ears hairdo is killing me 😍😍😍 so so cute!
LMFAO 😂😂😂The guy in the park. Doing his clown tricks. Your reactions are priceless. Now. You gotta make a video and interview him
Am i like the only one who likes bread crust? 😂😂
I live in nyc and there are a couple Japanese cafes and bakeries etc that sell sandwiches like this and it makes me so happy bc they cut all the crusts off and each piece has different stuff if in. It’s literally one of my favorite things. No crust 4 lyfe
In Argentina we have three types of sandwiches you should try: a choripan (an Argentine sausage sandwich, usually grilled and smokey with chimichurri, that tends o be a little spicy), a sandwich de bondiola (which is a grilled and smokey pork neck sandwhich, usually served in the same spot you get the choripan), and a sandwich de miga (endless varieties of giant crustless sandwiches. I highly recommend these. Every foreigner I know loves them)
Cool! I like your video 😍😍😍😍🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
You guys are so wonderful at describing food
Porkchop/cutlet sandwiches are AMAZING, NO ONE should question this video! 😂
Just saying Circus Park Man kinda looks like Dan in 10 years...sorry Dan.
In Tunisia ,one of our signature sandwichs is called Kafteji which consists of fried chillies, fried zucchini, fried eggs and french fries all mixed up and cut then filled into a half baguette .
In my country we have the vegemite sandwich and people are incredibly patriotic about it here in Australia. I used to go to primary school everyday with a vegemite and cheese sandwich.
Mexico’s Torta Milanesa is the best! It’s our version of Katsu sandwich but no katsu sauce and 1 billion other ingredients in it lol
I want to travel to Japan. All thanks to you guys:)
Am I the only one that really loves the crust on bread? Whenever we have slice bread laying around, I always go for the two end pieces.
Grilled cheese sandwich for America. They're my favorite! I always try one if they offer it at the restaurant I'm trying. My husband and I also had them for our wedding reception. It was a big hit!
I'm Taiwanese and we have that delicious white bread here too (known as milk toast). When my family was living overseas, every time we came back to visit, my brother and I would just eat a loaf of bread, crust included, like it was cake... it's THAT good!
Milk toast has higher sugar and oil content- and uses milk instead of water, obviously.
in argentina we have CHORIPAN. It's chorizo with chimichurri (a really spicy sauce made with spices, vinegar and oil) between two slices of what we call "felipe" bread (it's like a mini baguette)
I love how any time the weird guy came on to the video with his music my cat would give me a death stare. Even my cat thinks he's weird.
In Argentina you have to try the choripan or a good meat sandwich like vacio one xD
Mica López Paz o sanguche de milanesaaaaa!!! con tomate y lechuga!!!
I just arrived Tokyo today , hungry AF, so went into bakery and grab whatever I saw, and it is the katsusando! It was a-ma-zing!!! The weirdest part is, ur new video is about katsusando! This is a sign from the god of katsusando!
I'm loving that top Martina.
The sandwiches also look super good.
Martina is literally saying all of my thoughts here. Breading sliding off of a non-Japanese cutlet? Wonder Bread getting stuck to the roof of your mouth? YES! I KNOW ALL OF THESE THINGS AND THEY ARE AWFUL!
Pambazos from Mexico!! Its a salsa-dunked sandwich that’s traditionally filled with spicy chorizo and potatoes. The bread is then griddled or fried in a bit of oil until crisp, and then stuffed with a generous amount of crispy cubed potatoes, refried beans, the lettuce, cheese, and sour cream 😍
That guy was awesome, Who needs jokes when you can do cut off scenes with his guy do random shit 😂 made my day 👍
it's cute, so small.. in my world a sandwich is as big as Simon's hands .. i love the crust of the bread more than the middle :)
My favourite Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snack food! (i.e. All the time is Katsusando time)
that's just some street acrobatics :/ hope someone tips him.
I don't think tipping performers is that big of a thing here. I didn't see anyone tipping him or him having a place for tips, either.
i think he just practicing
I want to know what his little whiteboard says.
Looks like he is practicing a Chinese Yoyo routine. Our college has a Modern Chinese Yoyo performance team, and they are AMAZING and super cool.
Simon and Martina 👍
From Texas with love, you should find a torta de milanesa. Sandwich on bolio bread with a breaded an fried cutlet of pork or beef.
Malta is famous for its "ftira". It's a crunchy sourdough bread with a filling of tuna, beans, capers and tomato paste (it might vary from shop to shop but these ingredients are the standard). It is usually really cheap and is my go to for whenever I'm hungry ^_^
Hey! don't make fun of the weirdos juggling talents. Remember you guys are weirdos too. Can you juggle sticks to weird flute music? Well? Can you?
BTW Martina I love your hair nub ears. Very cute. 🐙
Ungaloo you're weird too.
Ana Carolina tru dat! 🐙
Memories of sports anime. Katsu can also mean "to win". So in these anime, they eat tonkatsu dishes for good luck before a match. One of them is katsudsando.
I laughed so loud at that guy 😂😂😂 Great video guys, the sandwich looks amazing!
Simon and martina. I love you both guys❤❤❤
When ever in Belgium, try a 'martino', this was put together in Antwerp a long time ago. Tis a typical French bread with a refined type of steak tartare, Worcestershire sauce, peppersalt, gherkin, ketchup, onion and some Tabasco sauce. A lot of variants exist now
I don’t know why I torture myself and watch these videos when I’m starving
Your Vietnamese neighbors have a really nice sandwich called bánh mì. It has soft pork, cilantro, and pickled carrot strips. They’re popular in Cali too
I live in in Western New York and we have what's called, beef on wick (alt. sp: beef on weck). This is thin slices of roast beef (usually served rare) on a kimmelweck roll (this is a roll topped with caraway seeds and coarse salt) where the top of the bun has been dipped in au jus.
In Argentina we have a couple. Choripán, and Lomito, might be the most local. Choripán is a sandwich made with a grilled pork sausage, chimichurri sauce (another local sauce, it's garlicky, vinagery, spicy gloriousness) and some chopped vegetables, tomato and lettuce in general, but you can basically slap anything you want to it. Lomito is a big brute, consisting of a very fine slice of "lomo" beef (it's a very tender cut), tomato, lettuce, cheese, fried egg, ham, and the option of other ingredients. It's typically made with a mayo sauce, but not the tasteless crap you get at the supermarket; the good places will make their own with their own mix of spices.
+anyjen yummmmmyyyyyy!!!
I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
I love the crust on the sandwhich! I never understand why people cut it off! To each their own I guess! Loved the video! :D
Waah! Martina you got the Sailor Moon GU dress! It's so fabulous I'm almost distracted from the katsu... almost *drool*
It's not DON-KATSU . It's TON-KATSU
For Australia it's gotta be Bunnings Sausage Sizzle! You can generally find someone making them outside most Bunnings Hardware stores on weekends.
Now I've got that guy's song stuck in my head - DANGIT XD
If you guys ever come to the Navajo Reservation, check out the flea market on Fridays for local foods, being cooked. Lots of mutton and frybread :3
The guy that’s throwing stuff around is a flow artist. Usually we work with fire but police don’t always like that lol. I spin poi. He looked like he was doing juggling sticks and regular juggling. There’s also staff, s staffs, hoop, and double sticks. :P
While visiting family in Chicago tbis past September my aunt took me to a Japanese restaurant and they had a Donkatsu Bento Box and a Chicken Katsu Bento Box options and I chose chicken because I love chicken....my first time having Katsu and I loved it. Last month I went to a Japanese restaurant here in KY and I had the Donkatsu (not a huge fan of pork) and I loved it! I wish there were Japanese restaurants closer to the town I live in because I could eat their food all the time!
the very quick text saying "that's what she said" hahaha
That man's got some serious street clowning skills! And look at him flirting with those girls while spinning the diablo lol!
Loved this video! In Egypt one of the most popular sandwiches beside Shawerma is Fava beans (Fool), and Fava bean-based falafel (Taameya). If you’re ever in Cairo, I’d love to invite you to a nice food tour 😋
That guy in the background is my spirit animal.
finally, someone else feels the pain of sandwich filling spilling out of a hard breaded sandwich
In Portugal we have a special sandwich called Francesinha, but is covered in sauce so you have to eat it on a plate.
If you're ever in the states be sure to try our national favorite. The Big Mac 😂😂😂
We make the bread like you showed at work, we call it shoku pan. Since I am pastry we make it for the cold section of the line. It's so yummy, and definitely not as doughy as wonder bread.
@Simon & Martina
In Switzerland we have also Special Sandwiches i call them ROS (Ripu-Offu-Sando).
They are expensive and taste pretty bad (old?).
You can buy them at Suisu-konbini Migrolino or Coop Pronto.
They usually cost between 3.5 and 7 CHF (400-800¥).
If you ever come to Puerto Rico we have whatbis called Tripletas which is a half a pound of loaf bread with three different types of meat stuffed into it and special sauce.
I'm not Czech, but I live in Prague and they love their Chlebíčky!
If you ever come to Iowa, I'd say the ubiquitous sandwiches here are the pork tenderloin and the "loose meat" sandwich popularized by Maid-Rite. They're kind of like a sloppy joe but without the sauce? They're pretty delicious.
In Denmark We have smørrebrød whichis basically an open faced sandwich with excessive amounts of toppings- on top of a ryebread slice. Literally Danish ryebread is the BEST
If you ever visit sweden again, you should try the smörgåstårta (=sandwich cake). Comes in different varieties and it's a must on any seniors birthday haha
i went to the east coast once and had a sandwich called the Chicken Vermonter... it was quite delicious
I would say it is the Skagen sandwich or shrimp sandwich with eggs. We are big on seafood here in Sweden so yeah. :)
I can get jiggy to that guy's tunes.
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago. In Trinidad we love Bake and Shark..don't know if it counts as a sandwich 😅. Bake is a fried dough and shark is...well, shark. Lol. It's seasoned, dredged in flour and fried then served in the bake with your usual lettuce, onions, tomatoes and condiments like creamy garlic sauce, mayo, pepper sauce, culantro (we say bandania) sauce and so on. It's divine.
He's awesome. It's literally a free circus.
This is one of my favorite videos :)
we don't have a specific sandwich we have lángos in Hungary its a pancake like savory topped with sour-cream and cheese and garlic its very delicious
Didn't finish the video yet, gotta comment on the lovely Sailor Moon x GU dress Martina is wearing ❤️❤️
I came for sandwiches, stayed for a man doing cool tricks....
Love Maisen! The very first time I came to Japan in 2010 I ate there. Katsu is very common in Hawaii because we have a lot of Japanese influences on our local food here but when I ate at Maisen, I was blown away! Can you guys do a video on WagyuMafia gyu-katsu sando? I meant to try it when I was in Tokyo last month but I completely forgot!!! Kalua pork sandwiches I guess is a specialty in Hawaii and once in a while Taco Bell in Hawaii will have Kalua Pork tacos and burritos. Local taco shops will serve it as well. Great video!
I enjoyed the Strange Busking man since the beginning hahhaha
"Broodje Kroket" in the Netherlands!!!
I’m not sure about the entirety of the US, but in Tennessee, quite a bit of people, including myself, like tomatoes, mayo, and black pepper on white bread.
Those sandwiches looks so good
I'm laughing, that man is awesome on his skill. 😍👏👍 he's the best vid bomber but in a really good funny way. It made the vid more humorous. 😂😂😂😂
If you go back to Mexico and go to Guadalajara, order the tortas ahogadas! Go for the spicy sauce, you guys can handle it. Mexico has tond of sandwiches that are unique and almost always on baguette or individual small sized loafs of bread.
What a beautiful Duwang!
We have a Ren Faire near us so in the spring if you go to parks you'll see people performing getting ready for when it opens, it's really neat! Also, you're filming yourselves eating food and *he's* wierd? 😂
it must be good. that is the faces of a happy person.
